2011-2012 Boston Bruins (Offseason)

BDL, you are so lucky you get to see them BOTH on TV and at the GAMES!!!!

We are from Boston, moved to SoCal in 2008. We cannot see them at all. :sad1: I wish wish wish there was a way to see them????

Will you be taking a camera tonight? If so would you please take some pics and come back and post for me!!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

My DS (27yo) lives an hour south of me in La Jolla, he has the exact same BRUIN you have in your siggy on his profile pic on FB!!!! :woohoo:

Neat story; the day after they won the Championship, my niece, (23yo), who is an Agent with the Boston FBI had a luncheon at some hotel in downtown Beantown. When all the Agents got to the hotel for the luncheon they were told by concierge that they would have to move their luncheon to a different function room (that they usually use) as they needed that room they usually use. FBI agents all say, FINE, NO BIGGIE. So they are in their function room having their meal and conference and in walk ALL THE BRUINS WITH THE CUP. My niece about lost it AS did all the Agents. The Bruins came to say TY for bumping at the last minute to a new room. AND then the Bruins STAYED in that room with them and stayed and stayed and took tons of pics with them!!!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I don't know what kind of cable company you have out there. But the games tonight will be broadcast on Versus network (or NBC Sports network depending on if they changed the name yet). NBC bought Versus after they saw the success Versus was having with the NHL last year.

If you have satellite, maybe you can get CBC?

:dance3: HOLYYYYYYYY TOLEDOOOOOOO, I have THAT channel. Just set to record!!!!!!!! WOW, thanks so much. We have COX. I wonder if I can see more of them? This was the channel we were able to watch all the playoffs on!!!! :dance3:

Enjoy the banner raising tonight Bruins fans. You may not see another for a long time.

:lmao:

Just got my tix for Bruins vs Carolina on Oct 12th...woooohooo. Decent seats...4 tix for $85 with a parking pass on Stubhub. First time I ever had to pay for tix though. My company has always had season tix to Carolina and I always get the Bruins tix but this year we arent doing the season tix so I had to buy them...will be said not to sit on the blue line 14 rows up...but no way was I spending $125 a tix...

Can I tell you how much I love you? DD12 has been begging for Bruins tickets for Christmas. She is a huge fan. I looked on the Bruins website and decided that because of the prices we would stick to Dartmouth hockey games (love to watch the women!). :scared1:

Then you reminded me of stub hub and there are lots of reasonably priced tickets. I can't believe I didn't think of it.

ETA - now I see why. I didn't notice they were away games. DUH. We'll be watching tonight!

Hi all:

Sorry for the delay. Damn work kept getting in the way. But opening night was incredible. Seeing the B's skate on the home ice with the Cup over their heads. Looking at the video montage on the jumbo-tron and the curtain at center ice. Having that curtain drop to reveal the new banner. Hearing the different players and management address the crowd (I'll get to Cam Neely later). Seeing Tim Thomas get emotional whenever the camera close in on him and the crowd would erupt in applause. Hearing the "Recchi... Recchi..." chant when Ferrence gave him the Starter jacket for helping to lead them through the playoffs last year. And watching the current Bruins and the '72 Bruins + Milt Schmidt walk the banner over together to be hung from the rafters.

Unfortunately, the game itself wasn't as much fun. Though the B's came out flat, they did manage to score the first goal of the night. Marchand score on a pretty good feed from Seguin. Too bad, that was where the scoring ended for the B's. The Flyers scored 2 goals, almost right on top of each other, right before the intermission. By the way, am I alone in my disdain for Jaromir Jagr?

The one thing that helped alleviate the pain was that during the 1st intermission, I got autographs and my picture taken with Ken Linseman and Reggie Lemelin. Reggie was a great guy. He even started talking to me more when I mentioned that I watch the Young Justice cartoon, that his daughter does 1 of the voices for. It was kind of funny though. As we were talking, he started transitioning into French. But when he took a breath, he was speaking English again.

The second period was fairly lack luster for both teams. It seemed like the opening ceremony might have taken some of the wind out of their sails. The 3rd period was by far the most exciting. The B's picked up the hitting and poor Bryzgalov must've felt like a shooting gallery. There were so many "oh-so-close" moments. But in the end, it only amounted to a 2-1 loss to the Flyers. At least, due to the delay of the start of the game because of the ceremony, the crowd knew that Montreal lost to Toronto 2-0.

The highlight of the night for me was when Neely took the podium to address the fans. Now, those of you who did not see what Jacobs did to Neely before the parade this Summer, might no appreciate this. But Jacobs threw a barb at Neely by saying (apprx) "Cam finally gets to raise the Cup. Something he couldn't do while he was skating." You could imagine the boos he got. At the opening ceremony, Cam said (again apprx) "We couldn't have done it without ownership providing us the resources we needed to win" all the while rubbing his thumbs over his fingers in the Money Money Money gesture. The Garden exploded in laughter. Not only was this payback from the parade, but echoing how the fans have felt about Jeremy Jacobs. Luckily, Charlie doesn't share his dad's view and now, it's a new era.

Well, the title says it all. The Bruins officially have a losing record. They started off the weekend in ok form, beating the Bolts 4-1. Congratulations goes to Martin St. Louis for notching his 300th goal. Against his old college teammate no less. Peverly got 2 goals and Seguin had 2 helpers.

Sadly, that is where the offense ends. Even though Tuukka made 35 saves, the Bolts took 36 shots. It's tough that Tuukka put in such an effort in a losing effort. But what hurts the most...

The B's are now behind the Habs because of percentage points.

Just when you thought that many of the new season question marks had stopped, a newer bigger one has emerged. David Krejci is not going on the current road trip due to an injury he incurred yesterday at practice.

Speculation is running rampant over how Julien will shuffle the lines. Some say that either Peverley or Seguin will step into the 1st line center position, with the other playing wing on that line. Another scenario has Seguin sliding to 3rd line center with Kelly jumping up to the the 1st line spot and having Caron and Pouliot winging Seguin.

The only thing I know is that this presents and interesting dilemma for Claude. Especially, considering that he had held back some of the shifts of the 1st line in the last game.

Tune in tonight to find out the answers.

Ok... This is starting to get bad. Losing 3-2 to the previously winless Carolina Hurricanes is not a good sign. The defense has got to step up. It's bad enough that the other teams are passing around you like you're nailed to the ice. It's another thing entirely when you help the team score (I'm looking at you Seidenberg). 2 goals were the direct result of not clearing out the crease in front of Timmy and/or a deflection. Another thing that added insult to injury was the Darth Quaider left the ice with an injury and didn't return. And the B's haven't updated his status yet for the game Saturday in Chicago. I hope the Black Aces stayed in game shape in the off-season. Caron and Bartkowski are getting work now. Who knows which one will be called up next.

The 1 bright spot of last night was the impressive play of Seguin. He put the puck past Ward in a 4"x4" area. He does have "the touch". As he gets more experience, and quit relying on turn and kick, hopefully his face-off skills will improve.

I'm no Seguin-ista. I did believe that what Julien did last year was to try to make Seguin a more complete player. And I hate people that came out of the woodwork against Julien after the 2 games that Seguin had against TB. Stop the comparrisons to Stamkos. 1) Stamkos is a force of nature on the ice and cannot be duplicated. 2) Totally different systems in TB vs. Boston. He walked into a TB team that can open it up on offense because they put all their faith in their goalie or hoping to win 6-5, because they already had Lecavalier and St. Louis. But the more Seguin grows into his body (still only 19), the more dangerous weapon he'll become.

If you're like me, I check out the PuckDaddy blog at Yahoo sports now and then. Today is a great point/counterpoint for re-alignment. Enjoy.

Not sure if anyone saw Penguins/Caps game last night, but that fight between Asham and Beagle was awesome. Now you can debate all day long whether what Asham did after the fight was classless or not (I just think it's funny). But it was still a good fight. Beagle opened up with a high speed flurry of rights, then Asham gets the elbow pad off and lands 2 PERFECT over hand rights and Beagle goes down like a sack of potatoes.

On the lighter side of the news, the Habs lost last night to the Flames. I heard that the Motreal training staff had to head to the local pharmacy during the 1st intermission to get some aloe cream to treat the sunburn on the back of Carey Price's neck.

I know it's cheap, but I'll take what I can get. I call it "victorious via vacarious." Feel free to use that amongst yourselves.

I was at the game last night and the Asham/Beagle fight was a turning point for the Penguins. They managed to tie the game and salvage a point, with Fleury out sick and Johnson filling in between the pipes. It also was a great day as Sidney Crosby has been cleared for contact. Hopefully, he'll be back in uniform sooner, rather than later!

Woooo HOOOOOO!!!!

We're #3... We're #3... We're #3... We're #3... We're #3...

Take that percentage points. The B's now have sole possession of 3rd place in the Northeast Division. Granted, they are still 10th place overall in the Eastern Conference, but let's dwell on the positive.

The Bruins did Saturday, what the almost never do. They won a shootout. :cool1: The scoring, for the B's, started with a shorthanded bid by the away game 'A' Chris Kelly. Then, behind 2-1, Nathan Horton got his 1st goal of the season and Tyler Seguin got his 4th helper of the year. If you think you can draw a comparisson of Seguin to another player, go ahead. I try not to label young players "The next xxxxxxx". However, hypothetically, if I were... I'd say St. Louis Craig Janney.

There was no scoring in sudden death. Then came the shootout. The time that all B's fans dread and are ohh so thankful that are not in the playoffs. Seguin steps up and scores on his attempt. Bergeron missed out on his. But that didn't matter because Timmy shut the door on Toews, Kane and Sharp. A very formidable trio.

Now to the negative. If I'm Cam Neely, at next year's league meetings, I'd make the motion that teams can decline penalties, like they do in football. Let's face it, when there are more SH goals than PP goals, it's time to give it up.

By the way... The Habs are in 4th place.

We're #3... We're #3... We're #3... We're #3... We're #3...

Is anyone else concerned that the teams that were on the outside looking in, seem to be the ones that are in the thick of it in this young season? The Islanders, Panthers, Wild and Oilers seem to have shown a marked improvement. Granted, all 4 teams were those young teams that always seemed to be 1 component from making that next leap. Especially the Islanders.

But it seems like of these teams are possessed. 5 on 5 and special teams all seem to be clicking. They're getting scoring from multiple lines. The young players are blocking shots and going into the corners.

The one thing that looks good for the rest of us is that they all seem to be winning their games 6-5 or 7-4. Goaltending still seems to be an issue for these guys. Hopefully, they don't have some stud in their system that comes up and is lights out or make a trade deadline move like TB did last year (which would be kind of ironic for the NYI).

Too early to be concerned about that yet. Look at the Leafs, they do that every year and then go into a major slump before trying to make a run near the end of the season.

You Bruins fans need to get Lucic going! I have in in a pool and he is killing me right now. :rotfl2:

I left the Leafs off the list on purpose for that very reason (don't tell disneydreamgirl I said that though... ). It seems that Kessel just loves to get his trade value up at the beginning of each season. That is until opposing teams' D realize that he relies too much on just 1 or 2 moves and that's it. Once they stop screening their own goalies, the stats should slow down. That being said, Lupul and Reimer actually look legit.

But is anyone else hoping for that oh so awkward moment again this year? You know the 1. The 1 where Kessel was taken last over all for the all-star team and just wanted to crawl under a rock. I think it would be awesome if that happened 2 years in a row.

I'm adding this for you Declansdad. This was at a B's game last year. Sorry there is no sound. Trademark laws, and all...

Ok... I'm officially worried now. Not only are the Bruins 2-4-0=4, But now 15% of the team is getting ejected? Including the coach (which the refs say later they repealed, but that doesn't help). But there are other issues too. There are only 2 B's that have more the 1 goal (2nd liners Peverley and Marchand). Our defensman with the most pts (3) is also a -3. The refs and linesmen seem to have the whistle ready at the slightest contact (like every opposing player is a QB in the NFL). And the power play is as anemic as a swimsuit model before the Sports Illustrated photo shoot.

Tonight, the Bruins face (and it kills me to say it) the Northeast div. leading Toronto Maple Leafs. Kessel (booooooooooo!) and Lupul are practically scoring at will. Reimer is making Thomas-esque saves. And Phaneuf is playing like it's 5 yrs ago. The only positive here, is that the 4 players I just mentioned are the only Leafs that have any stats on the team.

But, the B's have acknowledged their short comings. They are started to shuffle the lines. I'm not sure that i agree with how, but no one ever paid me to coach an NHL team either. They gotta get something done. I had so much hope when they spanked the Bolts. Now, they have 10 G's in 6 games and have let up 13.

I hope the can find the right line combos and tandems.
