This was my SV BC CL room

We were never in the room at the right time to see if we could see the MK fireworks. It really wasn't as terrible as I was thinking it would be.

That being said, this was our GV view from YC CL

A MUCH better view :cloud9: And one of the only trips that we have gone out of our way to sit on the balcony, alot.

I am still wondering if anyone knows what the other YC CL GV views are besides the wedding gazebo :flower3:

I think that was the same BC CL room we had!!

Nobody was 'dressed down' per se.. but ...

We have to watch these Resort FAQ threads... they can become daily chit-chat and wander pretty far afield.. and I certainly have no problem with some off topic stuff here and there..

My post was initiated by more than one member complaint that we were pretty far off the mark in places in this thread and I went back about 15 pages and we have 'wandered off the topic' pretty far in a bunch of places.

Honestly -- chat all day if you like.. Personally, it matters not to me in the grand scheme of things.. but remember that this is an FAQ thread and for other members looking for answers to questions.. if they have to wade thru 15 pages of chit-chat, they may not bother. Which sort of truly defeats the purpose of the thread.

Not trying to be a morning smile killer. Honestly!

I'll leave ya's to it.

Thanks,

Knox

I'm not speaking from experience, but this is what we have planned for our departure day - breakfast at Cape May. Since we won't have park tickets for that day, we thought it would be a nice way to end the trip since we'd still get to see the characters.

Us too!!! The only bad part is I don't think we'll make the magical express in time so we might have to charter something but I think the character breakfast our last day will be a fun way to end the trip :)

Thanks Knox! And a personal thank you for all the work that you and all the DIS people that make this forum possible for us! Can't imagine all the time and $$$ that go into it. :worship:

We do our best to answer any and all questions about our beloved Yacht and Beach Club! (sometimes to a fault.) We do wonder off occasionally but that is more attributed to our ADD/ADHD personalities than a concentrated effort to do so. Keep us straight :flower3: and keep up the good work!

We always rent a car and have taken to flying into Tampa instead of Orlando, so we don't have to worry about ME. And we book our return flights for later in the day, so I'm really hoping for this to be a fun end to the trip.

Knox: Thanks for the reply! Maybe we need a "BC/YC Fans General Chit-Chat" thread. This place definitely gets off-topic, but I have to say, that is one of the reasons why I felt so welcome when I found the thread. But I guess I can understand those who ask a question and then find that they got lost in the chatter.

And I have to say that I think Dee does a great job of keeping the front page updated with all the latest info. It's probably the best FAQ thread I've seen as far as trying to keep all the info together in one quick, go-to spot.

I have never been, so I don't know if you need to get there early, but I don't think you do. They used to have ingredients for smores, but I believe the policy is BYOM (bring your own marshmallows) now. Anyone know if the sticks are provided?

Thanks for posting your views. Do you remember/mind sharing the room number? I agree, the view was not too bad.

Sorry, I don't have an answer about the YC CL GV rooms.

In November, marshmallows & sticks were provided free of charge, but they didn't have chocolate or graham crackers.

I don't remember the BC room number, but it was 2 rooms away from the lounge. The YC room was 3 away from the lounge. Close to lounge is about the only thing I ever request when staying CL, irregardless of the resort.

In my case I switched from Poly because of the pool slide being closed with fairly little notice (i have teens - they want a slide). This was a bit of a bucket list trip of sorts - I have been battling an advanced lung cancer (not a smoker) since last June. I'd written some notes to the guest relations for WDW explaining the situation and the need for this trip to be "magical." They had called me and assigned an agent that I am specifically in contact with. She was able to apply the discount to any hotel with any availability. So when she said "last room" she meant "last room." Still I'm going to see if she can do anything because this was clearly her mistake (or a Disney computer mistake). I am just hoping that she makes it in to work today. She sounded horrible on the phone yesterday. If she doesn't call me by lunchtime, I am going to call in and see if she even made it.

In the scheme of things, this is a lot smaller than cancer. And, I had great scans on Monday. I can't even believe that I stressed over a pool slide, and now over a view. But, I really do want this trip to be special and create lots of good memories.

The good news and more important thing is that I had a terrific scan on Monday. I am on a new medicine that works well for about 70% of people with a particular genetic mutation causing their cancer (I've got the mutation). It is working well - currently no evidence of cancer.

This is wonderful news. You have so much to celebrate. Have a wonderful trip.:goodvibes

It was my Swatch watch, my Jams shorts, the yellow high top Reeboks, the feather clipped on my purse, dare I say....the Members Only jacket...I'm so sorry....I see why some were offended. It will not happen again!

I do have a resort specific question....I got the welcome email from IPO awhile ago, I have no requests or ADRS for them to assist me with - but I do have a question for them - how far out should I email them?

And by the way, I was having a very stressful evening last night, your pictures gave me a very much needed chuckle!

Your pics are great. They take me back. I had the same hightop Reeboks. I had the spiral curls but the feather was in my hair.:rotfl:

Does anyone know where the handicap self parking is at the Beach Club? Couldn't tell from the map. We do not want to do valet, just self park. Thanks!

I have to say that I'm surprised and disappointed that we would get reprimanded for talking about resort wear. It's not really "far off the beaten path" even if it is obvious that it was a joke and we're not really advising people on what to wear.

Guess I'll really have to work on making up some questions to ask about the resort only so I can do my part to at least keep this thread alive and making sure it stays on the topic and only on the topic.

So, to make sure I'm on topic: we are going in October. With regards to the movies on the beach, what time do they usually start? Should we get there early? Did I see something about a campfire / marshmallow roast? Is that part of the whole "movies on the beach" package?

When we went at the end of September 2010, the campfire started about an hour and a half before the movie. There were not that many people, so I don't think you need to get there early. They provide the mashmallows and sticks to roast them. If you want to make smores, you need to bring the rest. We had a great time doing this. We sang, we played, we roasted. Great times for all. Watching the movie on the beach was fun, too. The setting is perfect. White beach, good movie, beautilful lake in the backround. All I was missing was an alcoholic beverage.

Starting on Feb. 12, Stormalong Bay will change its operating hours to 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Disney’s BoardWalk Resort’s Luna Park Pool will keep their current operating hours for lifeguard on duty and slide operation, which are 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Is this a permanent change or just seasonal? I hope it is permanent!

"Until further notice."

WOO-HOO!!!

I can change the following FAQ post (I always thought it was a little harsh...)

If anyone encounters any different hours during your trip, could you report back. Thanks!

Can you tell me the hours for Stormalong Bay pool?

I'm sorry! I can't!

I don't know what time SAB opens or if it changes at different times throughout the year. The closing time at night definitely varies throughout the year and is based on things like crowd level, weather, etc. The front desk may have one closing time that they give to guests, but the lifeguards may keep the pool open longer if conditions warrant it.

Sorry it is so hard to answer this question! I don't think the resort posts the time on the activities sheet you get when you check in because the times are subject to change.

The best thing to do is ask the lifeguards when you are there.

Here's the new post:

Can you tell me the hours for Stormalong Bay pool?

Yes, I can!!!

Until recently, the closing time at night definitely varied throughout the year and was based on things like crowd level, weather, etc.

Beginning on February 12, 2012 the official operating hours of Stormalong Bag are 10 am to 10 pm daily.

Sorry, I'm not going to feed the trolls. We don't need to worry about that anyway!

Cape May Buffet breakfast is my favorite character breakfast.

We always do that one and Crystal Palace (sentimental favorite - it was our first ever character meal).

Here's the funny thing. Even though CMB will be closed in July somehow the reservation system let me make an ADR for July 20! I'm just waiting for a disney dining email or phone call to tell me what I already know!

It's our absolute favorite character breakfast too!! It's our tradition that we always eat breakfast here on our departure day-takes the sting out a little (just a little.... LOL!) :goodvibes

So you're 2000 again? LOL.
Any BC trips planned this summer? I hope to get another Mini BC/YC Dis Meet together, when my dates are a little closer.

Hey guys don't worry - someone once reported that the BC/YC thread was "off topic" when I posted about buying a new van - THAT WE BOUGHT TO DRIVE TO DISNEY!!!! I thought that was pretty strange . . .

We usually always go to Disney in the summer so 10-10 were the hours I was used to at SAB! It's so much fun to see everyone swimming at night with all the lights up.

Hey Knox- I want to add my thank yous for your comments and the (often thankless) work that you and the other moderators do here.

I can't believe all of the stuff I have learned on this thread, both resort-related and off-topic (bacon milkshakes- Who knew???), but one of my fears is that some new faces to the thread will think we are too cliquey and are afraid to ask a question.

Please don't be! You may not find the answer to your question in the last 15 pages of the thread, but hopefully it may be on the first page of this thread or if you ask, we will move mountains to try and get you the answer.

The search feature can also be a useful tool, but under no circumstances should you try searching "Lime Green Mankini" Just a friendly warning.

This board is a lot like when you go over to your family's house for the holidays and meet up with all the relatives. The polite ones, sitting at the table, talking quietly and enjoying the sensible snacks are the Yacht Club People. The nut cases screaming at the game on TV and eating waaay to many potato chips are the Beach Club people. Those poor Yacht Club people can barely get a word in edgewise but us Beach Club people love 'em anyway!

Oh gosh Robyn-you have NO IDEA how happy I am to have my "2000" back! :rotfl: :rotfl: I was persistent as anything and for days and days kept trying all sorts of passwords (you can only have 5 chances at a time until you get locked out for 20++ minutes).... and finally-SUCCESS!!!! It took me years to get to almost 3,000 posts! :rotfl: I didn't want to have to start over!!!! :woohoo::woohoo: So happy to be me again!

To answer your question, sadly, I don't believe we'll be able to visit our beloved BC this year :( :( I'll have to live vicariously through the Dis'ers pics-so I hope there's a lot taken!

Thank you for your time and efforts on behalf of us on the Beach Club/ Yacht Club FAQ thread. We hope that you will come every day to get to know us better and find out way more about our favorite resort.

Well said Marlton Mom

To answer your question about a possible BC trip this summer.... I honestly don't think it's in the cards this year :( :( :( DH is self-employed and business has been slow + my mom's 3 year battle with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer might be coming to an end soon I fear... she's exhausted all chemo options as she's built up a resistance to every chemo drug available to treat her type of cancer. I will have to live vicariously through your pictures of the Beach Club and WDW this summer to get my "fix" :thumbsup2 I also come here to help with my BC cravings when they hit.....

Well said Marlton Mom

So sorry to hear about your mom. I've been dealing with major health issues with my mom for a year now. She has an inoperable clot in the major valve to her heart. Seven months ago they told us - it could be a day or it could be six months. We know every day we have with her is a gift. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I know what you mean about business being slow too. DH is a self-employed CPA and unfortunately a lot of his clients are in the construction business. When we came back from vacation last summer it felt like the bottom fell out. I didn't even think we were going to get to DIsney this year. Things have picked up somewhat but we're in a gv room this year - no cl this year! We're staying the first two nights at the Dolphin on AMEX points!

Hopefully next year will be better for all of us and we'll get together at BC again!

Robyn, you and your family are always in our prayers! And our youngest just mentioned you the other day when we were talking about YC! I didn't even have to interject when he started talking about changing to BC - he said, "But Robyn loves Yacht Club, too, right?" I said, "yes, she does!" He said, "OK, we'll stay at Yacht Club this time and Beach Club next time."

And kldmom, sorry to hear your mom. Congratulations on finding your password and returning as "yourself!" We'll be sure to keep your family in our prayers as well, and we'll take a few extra BC photos for you! :)
