2011/2012 Beach & Yacht FAQ, Part IV- DO NOT POST- see new 2012 thread

So I was cleaning up the Marketplace thread a little bit this morning.

Some of the pictures I am still looking for are:

French toast sticks with ham (I have a photo of just the sticks already)

Kids lunch meal from the Marketplace

Sushi meal from the Marketplace (closeup of grab and go sushi, drink and dessert)

If any of you have these photos in your files, or if you happen to order any of these on upcoming trips, could you snap a photo for me? Don't want anyone going out of their way, though.

Also, could someone on an upcoming trip check on the grocery prices at the Marketplace to see if I need to update them. These are the prices provided by MickeyT in August.

Here is a price list of popular grocery items as of August 2011.

1/2 gallon of milk $3.15
1/2 gallon of juice - none in stock
Small orange juice container $2.39
Dozen eggs $1.95
Assorted Fruit $1.38
Loaf of Bread $4.59

Peanut Butter $3.95
Ketchup $2.45
Mustard $2.49
Mayo $3.95
Spagettios $1.45
Ravioli $3.45
Campbells Soup $2.95
Tuna $2.95
Pop Tarts (8) $3.95
Full box cereal $4.95
10pk cereal $7.95

Thanks!!!

There is a link on the first page (in the Amenities Section) to a thread we put together about the Marketplace- Lots of photos and information. I have copied that section and link here for your convenience:

The Beach Club Marketplace has Disney-themed merchandise, swimwear and resort wear, books, groceries, sundries, suncare, candy and snacks.
Fresh pastries, yogurt parfaits, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and some prepackaged fresh food to go are available.

Here is a link to over 30 photos taken by Pixarmom in February 2011 and May 2011 showing some of the grocery items, sweets, treats, gifts and merchandise available in the Beach Club Marketplace. A price list of popular grocery items (August 2011) is also included on this thread- thanks for completing that mission, MickeyT(Mike)!

Thank you for that link. I found Donald at the YC!!:cool1: Last year we looked everywhere for a Donald for Nathan and no one had any. I hope they are still there when we get there!

We tend to take granola bars and things so that we can have a grab and go breakfast. It is kind of disappointing that they don't have any seating area's inside with tables to eat at. Going in Feb. we may not want to eat outside. I guess we will do the same this year. We also may buy something the night before that we can have in our room the next morning like danishes or fruit from the marketplace. We can make it work for sure. We like to be at park openings anyway to beat the crowds.

Rusty, pretty sure you can eat inside in the Solarium. Of course I've never been so a vet can correct me!

My favorite gv rooms at the Yacht Club are facing the wedding gazebo.
Great sideway views of Crescent Lake too!

Thanks for the reply, we usually stay at the Contemporary but wanted to try one of the resorts near Epcot next time. Is there a big difference between Beach Club versus Yacht Club, or is it just the price that is different? Thanks for any help :)

There used to be a few tables inside the Marketplace, but I think it was just too crowded in there.

As Feckless said, you can eat inside the Solarium, which is just around the corner from the Marketplace. Really nice, comfortable seating in there.

Good idea to get some pastry or fruit the day before an early morning. We did the same this summer on days we needed to be at the Wizarding World at 7 am.

Here is the information from the first post on this thread about the differences between the Yacht Club and Beach Club:

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club
Lighter, beachy decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.

Yacht Club
Darker woods and nautical decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony

Does anybody know if they sell half & half (or coffee creamer of some kind) at the Marketplace?
Also, is it true that the in room coffee makers have been updated to the "pod" variety?

I got behind on my DISing and somehow missed the new thread.
Teena - I'm glad the biopsy aw negativ. I can't believe the year you've had.
Our next Disney trip is for marathon weekend but we're staying monorail for convenience. I'll wave to Teena at BC as I run by!
We are considering a few nights at BC following our June cruise. Thinking maybe CL or even deluxe room?
Happy Holidays to all!

Will check and let you know.

I am going to drive myself crazy.

I kept thinking Beach Club! But then I read more and I think Yacht Club! How will I ever decide? I can't ask Hubby. He'll just say "you pick".

I have never stayed at the BC... Always the YC. The full balcony means a lot to me. I like the quiet mornings there and the late nights. If you go with YC ask for a wedding gazebo view. It is just beautiful and if you look left or right you can see the lagoon! Just my opinion! Hope this helps a little!!

The full balcony is what has me leaning towards Yacht Club again. I do love the motif at the Beach Club though. And we are just the two of us, so Yacht Club seems "quieter" and more couple oriented. Decisions! Decisions!

Thanks for your 2 cents. I really appreciate it!! :goodvibes

you're welcome. it's just DD 26 and myself when we go, and though we both love the kiddies it is nice to not have the hustle and bustle of the BC lobby though there are people ALOT of people who love that we just prefer the quieter atmosphere! Good luck with your decision!

I was just reading the first page and I just have to say congratulations Teena...Lily is adorable. And glad to hear that you are doing so well now too!!

The coffee maker in my YC room right now is a Cuisinart pod machine which can make 2 single cups at a time (it has 2 pod dealies side by side.) It also heats up water for tea and I've used it for both coffee and tea with no coffee flavor lingering into the tea hot water - very nice.

Here at the Beach Club, savoring our last night. We received a complimentary upgrade from garden view to Concierge standard! Now we're spoiled. How can we ever again vacation without this level of service? Pixie dust or smart business move? You be the judge. Either way, I'm thankful!:lovestruc
