Hi everyone... I'm a little naive as this is our first stay at the Yacht Club. I noticed that most of you seem to be staying in a club level room and I'm just curious what perks you take advantage of to warrant the price. I just inquired about upgrading our room to club level and it's an extra $1221 for the week. I saw photos on the first page of the food/beverage offerings, and I also saw that you can have free dvd rentals and a few other perks... I guess I just can't see my family of 3 eating/drinking that much to make it worthwhile. I can definitely see us taking advantage of the breakfasts but don't want to rush back to the hotel to enjoy happy hour, if we are enjoying the parks, make sense?

Am I missing something? I'm not trying to be facetious, I'm just a rookie trying to understand :) Thanks!

My crazy DH and I are planning a quick trip to WDW over Easter break. We've decided to go see his mom who just moved to Edgewater FL. So how could we fly to FL and not go to WDW!!! It started as a one day trip. Then an over night and now I've got him up to four nights. Yeah After much debate and back and forth we decided on BC. Seeing we've already booked a 2 week trip for there in Nov. We thought we'd better make sure we Love the place. So we're heading to the BC 4/11-15. I swear there is nothing better than planning a Surprise trip for the kids... Love it.

If the noodle family would like someone to hang out with in mid-April, we'd be happy to host them 4/19 - 4/22. Also, if the March noodle people want to report on their condition we could possibly contribute some new noodles since we're driving over from Tampa & could easily stop at a store.

We've stayed both CL and non-CL. When we have the extra money we LOVE CL. We're a family of 5 and it really saves us on breakfast, soft drinks, snacks and we usually hit the appetizers around 5:30 and then we don't make our dinner ADRs until 7-7:30. We did use the IPO staff for things like ordering special birthday cakes, booking Illuminations or Wishes cruises, booking spa appointments in addition to making ADRs. The BC and YC CL staff were very friendly and helpful.

This year the economy hit us harder and it's our first non-cl trip in 4 years. Believe me if things pick up I'll be upgrading to CL in a New York minute!

I just got home from our trip to BCV and wanted to share a little bit of info about the SAB pool.
They are currently having to do some repairs on water pipes that are in a few of the rooms of the Yacht Club that overlook the SAB. Apparently the pipes busted and they are having trouble finding the leaks. The rooms are currently are out of use right now, and they have walls up around small parts of the pool near the hottub next to Beaches and Cream.
My Dad was talking to one of the CM there about what work was going on, and they told him all about what was going on. The CM went on to say that since they are having problems finding the leaks, and the pipes also run UNDER the SAB pool, they MAY have to drain the SAB pool and rip out the bottom of the pool to repair the pipes.
I can only imagine what a nightmare this would be, but if it's the only way to get the problem under control they will have to.

Of course the CM did say that this is the worst case scenario, and the information is from a CM that probably shouldn't be sharing the info in the first place, so take it for what it's worth.

What a disappointment and mess that would be. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Oh My!! It seems like the pool Noodles are getting involved in a thrown down with our old "BWI fan/ nemesis of BC club level" over which place has the better pool.

Per chance do any of the Veterans of SAB wish to give their feed back about their experiences in our sandy bottomed slice of heaven?

Congrats on your quickie trip! I'll add you to the list AGAIN.:banana::banana:

I'll add you to the Noodle Swap. :cool1:

Thanks for your offer- we will check with the March Noodle wranglers. But we should try to keep it on the QT. The Noodles around here have eyes. And ears. An mouths.

We'd be interested in the noodles late April/early May, probably right after Amy! :goodvibes

Our dates are April 28-May 6!

I'll put you onto the Swap List. :yay:

Oh boy!! Paul Noodle is being vocal!!

Thanks again for all of the friendly help here. I am down right scared to ask a question on any other board after reading all of the recent links to other threads.:scared1:

So, we will be buying some noodles at Target on our way to BC in March. (I am sure they will get along with the existing Noodle family.)

Is there any other water toy that you guys would suggest bringing for my DD6 for SAB?

TIA! I am counting down the days.

We are a family of three and I think about half the cost of CL would cover the food we eat and the other half we are willing to part with for the comfort and service.

We eat most of our breakfasts in the lounge and each have 2-3 drinks from the lounge throughout the day. We rarely are around for the appetizers but love to have some of the desserts if we are back in time, in the evening.

The extra service that we love is the fact that they make all our dining reservations. So easy to just email IPO and then wait for them to send us our itinerary. I love that they booked our dining 180 days out, and then booked the Big River Grill for us at 90 days out, without any reminder. (in fact, I forgot about our request for the Big River Grill until they updated our itinerary with the reservation they made.)

We are also huge suckers for great service, so here are some examples of the extra special service that keep us coming back to CL.
  • On our last trip to CR CL, it was so nice to get off the Magic Express bus and have a CM there to greet us by name and wisk us up to CL
  • Also on our last trip we were out late one night, arriving back at our room after the CL was closed. Since we were all thirsty we got some fountain drinks on our way back to the room. The next day mousekeeping noticed the drink cups in the garbage, so they took the time to put a selection of beverages in our room fridge so that we wouldn't need to buy evening beverages again.
  • And finally, for our upcoming trip our airline changed our flight times by 10 minutes for our arrival and an hour for our departure. I notified IPO about the change in departure time, but wasn't worried about the 10 minute difference in our arrival. In their response to me they updated our itinerary (and Magic Express reservation) with our new departure time, and also indicated they checked our arrival time and updated that too. So, without my prompting they double-checked our arrival time for us.

These things may not be worth money for some, but for us they make WDW that much more special. :lovestruc

7.5 weeks to go! YC CL here we come!:banana::banana:

It's like looking at a dead animal in the highway. You look then think, "Gosh. I wish I hadn't looked at that."

OMG even Teena posted over there! You guys are fiercely protective of your BC, I think that is great.

I laughed out loud when someone posted "it's only FAIR that I post Luna Park pics since someone posted SAB pics....what is this a competition??

I think CR irks you guys about as much as Poly Dude (and a few of his POR thread cronies) irks me. I still can't let that one go.

MM - I dare you to go on that thread & say that you think you saw a phone book in the bottom of SAB.....

Ok I did not know I could have 2 wait lists for DVC at the same time! I called again today to see if there were any openings at BCV's.. no such luck... but as with all things Disney it's who you have on the phone giving you information.. the person at DVC was so nice and gave me all kinds of info! So I am wait listed for up to 7 days before the trip.. fingers crossed I'll get the first 2 days at BCV's!!!

~Nannette

I hope it works out for you. I waitlisted 2 days at BCV recently and the waitlist came through in 2 weeks later. I hope the same happens for you.
