Hey Guys!
My family of 6 will be staying at the Beach Club Oct. 14th-19th, 2012. I have wanted to stay at the BC since my first trip to WDW. I stayed at the Swan when I was 12 babysitting 9 & 8 year olds while their mom was at a nursing conference. (Can you imagine letting a 12 year old take to little ones to parks now? Crazy!) We just happened to walk past the Beach Club and into Epcot while exploring one day. The Beach Club has been top on my wish list since then.
We are going this October because this is the last year we can stay there without getting two rooms. We are traveling with 2 adults, 13, 11, 7, & 2 year old. It may be a little tight. However, we had two rooms at the POP last Oct. and we all slept in one room. On the last night I looked at my husband & told him I thought we could manage one room at the Beach Club if we could do it at the POP.
My biggest question for you guys would be about room requests. We have a standard room ressie. I think I would rather be really close to the International Gateway. Although, it would be nice to have a view of the Epcot fireworks on a balcony.
Any suggestions? Also, how should I handle this room request? Should I put it on the current reservation & then send a fax to the hotel right before we go?
This is a great thread with lots of information! I am so glad someone suggested I check it out from a question I posted on another thread!
Happy New Year!!!

Hello and welcome!!! At Disney, we're so busy that we don't mind one room for all of us, either. (We're a family of five, with boys ages 4, 11 and 12.) A few things to consider:

1) You might want to request a full balcony. We feel like the balcony gives us a little extra space and it's nice to be able to step outside after the kids go to sleep or early in the morning. You can make this request by just calling central reservations and asking them to add it to your reservation.

2) A garden view room is typically only a few dollars more than a standard room, and will help avoid parking lot views. I think the most difference I've seen is $10 more per night, but we've booked garden view for only $6 more per night.

3) If you'd like to face Epcot, you could just call central reservations and ask them to add "facing Epcot, please" to your reservation.

Our best garden view (used to be standard under the pre-2011 room categories) was entirely by accident, with no requests on our reservation. We had a full balcony and an amazing view of the fireworks:

If I couldn't start 2012 at WDW, at least I can sit at home and watch the Patriots. (Of course, when living in Foxboro, it's best to sit at home on any game day if you don't have tickets because traffic is :scared1: )

I'm a 19 year season ticket holder! When I bought my seats people laughed at me and I could pick wherever I wanted to sit! Now they have, what, a 90,000 person waiting list?

Man how times have changed!!

I went to my first game in 1989. I was 19 years old. The tickets were a gift from my mom's friend because I wanted to go to a game so bad. We were about 3 rows from the top and I joked that we had a better view of the blimp than the game, but I loved it. People thought I was nuts that I wanted to go since they were so bad, but I didn't care. That was my team!

I've been a few more times since, but could never really afford tickets. I've been lucky enough to know people who have either given us tickets or invited me along. I do try to make sure I get to training camp every year though and last year, my nephew was visiting so I took him. He is 16 and had the time of his life. Said it was the best birthday gift he'd ever gotten because he was able to watch them practice and got some autographs.

I have posted in some time, but I had such a great time at the YC in August even after being stranded by Hurricane Irene and driving back home to MA, that we decided to do it all again! Booked for August 20-29th!!!! YC GV room coming right up!

Hello :) I am actually hiding on on the South Shore:)

I did do a mini Resort report thingy which was in the last YC/BC thread, I will see if I can find it. I also posted a few times regarding my being stranded:)

YC my thoughts.... I have kids so the pool set up was a no brainer for us. Although I was a bit stressed trying to watch them as they scattered in every direction at the pool. I had worried about my resort for aloooooooong time, but finally settled on YC, beacuse its quieter than BC and I really liked the Decor. It was as close to anything as BC and just SO beautiful to stay at :) Let me know if you have more questions.... I just love to share!

Thanks. We have no kids and I debated back and forth for ages. Hubby was laughing at me because months ago I had settled on Beach Club and then took a break from planning since I couldn't really do anything more at the time. Then a few weeks ago, when I jumped back into planning, I suddenly started debating again and decided Yacht Club. He said "I thought you were decided on Beach Club." I said, "I thought so too, but now I can't remember why." LOL I know I want a full balcony and I think we'd prefer quieter and looking at the decor, I couldn't figure out why I thought I liked BC better.

Yacht and Beach Club Voluptuous Noodle Swap

Meet the Noodle Family:

5754884767_ebd7587814.jpg

Paul, Pastina, Penne and Ramen

They will making their first visit to Disney World and the Beach Club in June 2011. They have decided to take up permanent residence at the resort and will be spending time with different families as part of a "noodle relocation program"

**********************************************************************************************

Well, after their introduction to the Beach Club/Yacht Club and Stormalong Bay, the Noodle Family has decided to stick around. The first handoff was successful!

We want to make sure that we can keep these guys around for as long as possible- so here are some suggestions

1) Apparently the noodles' skin is impervious to tattoos. The sharpies did not work. So, no drawing on the noodles- pictures are still encouraged, though.

2) Please exchange contact info with the family you are handing off to or receiving the noodles from.

3) If for some reason the noodle handoff does not go as planned OR if you are the custodians of noodle prior to a "GAP" period, please return the noodle family to Bell Services, using the pickup name "Mrs. Noodle". Bell Services will be their default "home away from home"

4) If you are picking up the noodles from Bell Services, please tip a couple of dollars. It won't take the CMs very long to figure out what is going on or to notice that the same noodles are returning again and again, but as long as everyone is polite and generous, I don't think there will be a problem.

5) If there is a problem with your handoff or pickup, or you suspect that the noodle family may be MIA, please alert natebenma or Marlton Mom by PM ASAP. If a noodle recovery team needs to be assembled, we are on it!

Thanks, and enjoy!

Please get a picture of your family or yourself with the noodles when you have them. Even better would be a picture of you AND the person you are handing them off to if possible. This is a great way to meet your fellow Yacht & Beach Club FAQ thread friends over something extremely silly!

If something happens to the noodle, it's OK... really! Just let us know and then some one down the line can try to replace it if they get the chance. This is all for fun so don't freak out if the noodles get lost or damaged. Have a great vacation and take care of the noodles with out fretting about it!

Pictures of the noodles engaging in your vacation activities are WELCOME! Say you are having a drink by the pool... take a picture of the noodle (with yourself as well if you want) 'posing' with the drink and post it on the Yacht & Beach Club FAQ Thread. Be creative! The sillier the better and an imaginative caption will help to set the scene and tell the 'story'.

The families involved in each hand-off would be responsible for contacting each other to arrange a time/place for the swap, or if the noodles need to go to Bell Services for a short vacation, please pass along the claim number to the next family and leave the package under the name "Noodle"

Do you know if the Noodles are still available the week of Jan 11-18, 2012? Staying at BC. Thanks!

Thank you so much to everyone who responded to my ADR list and

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!!!!

This year will be the first time I'm taking my whole family to WDW and I'm jazzed. Can't wait until June. We are going to have a lot of changes in our lives this year (including a move) and I'm truly looking forward to it.

so, BRING ON 2012!!!!!

Another round of :welcome: and WELCOME HOME! to friends who have recently booked!

Happy New Year everyone. I haven't been around for a while so it has been a lot of fun looking at everyone's pictures and hearing about their Disney/Beach Club adventures. I've especially enjoyed seeing pictures of Teena's beautiful grand daughter. It was sure hard keeping that secret last June. :)

We're trying to see if we can't come back to the Beach Club from June 9th through the 23rd, maybe even mixing it up with a Disney cruise sometime within those dates (it will be my longest vacation in 20 years). We simply fell in love with the facility and the staff last year and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when we came back.

Nice to hear from you again! Hope that you come back soon to say you are definitely coming back.

Happy New Year my Beach Club friends!!

I just know that 2012 is going to be GREAT!!

Here's to a happy and healthy 2012!!

Jay

P.S. Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is up with the beginning of the games the past couple of weeks? Are the guys just playing with their food? A little scared for the playoffs!

Hey Guys!
My family of 6 will be staying at the Beach Club Oct. 14th-19th, 2012.

Happy New Year!!!

dheinz- glad you came over! I'll add you to our page 1 Be Our Guest list.

Pixarmom's advice is great. I would agree that a full balcony would be important to give a little extra space to your group. I would suggest that you make this the most important request. You could add "facing EPCOT, please" or "near EPCOT, if possible" if you want.

As stated above, you would just call the Central Reservations number if you booked the vacation through disney yourself (either by phone or online) or if you used a travel agent, they need to add your room request to your reservation. From what I have heard, the faxes to the resort are not that effective, but I would suggest calling CRO again, about 10 days out, to make sure your room request is still noted.

I have posted in some time, but I had such a great time at the YC in August even after being stranded by Hurricane Irene and driving back home to MA, that we decided to do it all again! Booked for August 20-29th!!!! YC GV room coming right up!

Here's hoping for great weather :)

Glad you are coming back! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list!

Excited to say that we will be staying at the Beach Club April 18 to 21, before heading to Fort Lauderdale for our cruise on the Oasis.

Welcome! I'll add you to the list!

Do you know if the Noodles are still available the week of Jan 11-18, 2012? Staying at BC. Thanks!

It doesn't look like the noodles are spoken for during your dates, so I will put you down to entertain them, and add you to the guest list as well. :cool1:

It took me 3 months to pick YC, and I switched my reservations 3 different times until I was happy;) We had stayed at SSR and AKV before my dream was always to stay at the BC, but after being over at Cape May a few times the hussle in the lobby put me off. I know everyone has there own opinion and others love the BC more which is good too.....hence the options. I loved everything thing about the YC, from the second we got off the DME and were greated I knew I made the right choice. We had a GV room facing the quiet pool and it was very tranquil but yet you didn't have to go far to be in the Disney magic. I think you made a great decision. I will be back and forth before you leave so if you are looking for any thing in particluar let me know:)

Hello neighbor! Did you do a trip report? Tell me what you love aboyt YC and any other tips please. We are making our visit trip to YC in Oct.

I'm also a neighbor to you guys and was down the exact same time you were in August, though I was at the BC.

The folks at the front desk were great, offering us a discounted room rate should our Jet Blue flight get cancelled due to the hurricane. I was talking to a family from NY who had to add on an additional 6 days to their trip because of the flights home. As awesome as that sounded to me I don't think my vacation budget would of loved it!!

My.... what a difference a day makes! It seems our Lily has turned into the world's youngest "Cougar", trolling the Las Vegas night club scene, looking for love in all the wrong places. Nanny better get back to Vegas and tame this cutie before she drags back some bald and toothless, diaper wearing little man!

LOL!! That is the funniest thing ever!! How cute!
