Hello all! :cool1:

I just booked a Garden View room at BC yesterday for the 2nd half of our upcoming trip. We have only been to the World one time, in July of this year, and we stayed at POR. We are planning an 2 week trip this time. We will be at POR the first week, and then we are moving over to BC!!! I am so excited because everyone says how beautiful this resort is, and I'm keeping our "resort change" a surprise for the kids. :woohoo:

Any suggestions you have for restaurants, etc. nearby would be greatly appreciated...I'm in the process of planning the 2nd leg with this change. :)
We are on the DDP.

Could someone please tell me about the self parking at the yc? We have not stayed there before, and I was wondering how convenient it is. Thanks

Hi, DD and I just returned from YC... we had a rental car the entire time after the first day I decided that valet parking was the only way to go... $12 a day and you valet anywhere at Disney where valet is offered anytime. Now of course if you are not driving your car during your stay I would assume that self parking would work. The problem we had was we drove to daily golf lessons and lots of tours and driving was the only way it was going to work for us. Each time we returned the lot seemed full and the walk seemed very long.. of course we were tired from the golf and the tours!! So once I figured out $12 valet allowed me to park anywhere for the day I said "sign me up for that" it was well worth the extra cost!

Good Luck and I hope this helps!

Okay, is it just me or are some posts out of order? I feel like I am going crazy trying to keep up. I see where some people have responded to a post that is not showing up until maybe the next page. Not just here either. I saw it on the Budget Board today too.

I don't know if they are out of order, but there are a few that seem to be in the future! A few nights ago in my User CP area it said Marlton Mom posted at 11:15, but it was only 10:22. :confused3

Happened in the College Board area as well.

Have been going nonstop today and non of it had to do with our trip!:scared1:

Got to pack!!! I wish life would slow down just a little so I can catch up.

My DH's patient for Christmas present took us to the Muppet movie today.

Only problem closes good theater was in Huntington, WV, 45 miles away from home one way. So been going all day. Stopped by Disney store and picked up a Birthday present for Joeseph. shhh!! (christmas stitch in pjs) too cute and on sale for 10.00! It was 19.95. I figured no sales at Disney World!

Joeseph loves stitch and did not have this one!

While we were at the mall, Joeseph got a surprise. Davis Cleavland, from Shake it up (a show on the disney channel) He got his autograph picture today! He is a little star struck tonight!:rolleyes::woohoo:

So tired tonight, I think I am going to go to bed and sleep in and go crazy packing tommorow! Little worried calling for snow Wed. when we are supposed to leave out and start driving through the mountains.

There is a post on the resort boards about the kiddie slide and pool area. My family has never seen this (we didn't know it existed until after our last trip to the Beach Club), so I don't have the answer.

The poster wants to know if there are any loungers/places to sit or place a towel in that area.

Good question.

Anyone know?

Hello everyone,
We just got home last night from our 9 nights at the Beach Club. I haven't gone back and read any posts yet, just wanted to stop in and say hi.

We had a great room, water view over looking the lake we could see the lighthouse and the Dance Hall and most importantly we had a phone book!!! I haven't uploaded my pictures yet but will try to post later with the view (and phone book;)) We got to meet Teena, she is so very sweet, she even listened to DS go on and on about Legos (even I don't want to listen to him and I'm his mother!). Even though we had a rental car we took the bus to the parks and even DTD. I've heard horror stories about the DTD busses but I have say we didn't wait long at all. The trip to DTD the bus came about 2 minutes after we got to the bus stop, on the return trip we waited 5-7 min. We also chose to walk to HS rather than take the boat.

With the exception of really bad service at one character meal and a few behavior issues with DS we had one of the best trips we've ever taken:thumbsup2. So much so that we booked a bounce back, so we will be back at the Beach Club same time next year:woohoo:,.

Thanks to everyone here for all the helpful tips and advice, you are all so helpful!!! I'll try to post some pictures later today if I get around to uploading them; I've got a million things to do and I came home with a nasty cold/headache.

I thoroughly enjoyed being educated about the newest Lego products! You can never have too much knowledge.

So sorry you have a cold ... take care and get better fast. Santa is on his way and I'm sure there is lots to do.

Got it! Here's what I posted over there in response to that thread:

Hi TCups4Me!!

We LOVE the kiddie slide area at the base of the pirate ship!

It's located just by the stairs to the jib slide, it's not sand bottom, there are no loungers in that area (at least there were no loungers during our last stay in August.) They do have a bench in the corner overlooking the lake, and we've used that quite a bit to store our things, towels, etc. and dry off. We just bring towels over from the main pool area. One thing I love about that area is the wonderful view of the lake - very nice!

Here's a link to Stormalong Bay photos I took (mostly from our August trip) and you'll see a section regarding the kiddie slide area: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2790323&highlight=stormalong

I've copied some of that thread (with additional notes to address your question) below:

Guests must exit the main area of SAB and cross the pathway to get to the slide entrance.

You can see the kiddie slide area at the base of the pirate ship in the bottom left part of the photo:

Here's the view of the jib slide entrance/kiddie pool slide area as you exit the main area of SAB:

And here's the path along the side of the ship to the jib slide entrance:

Here's the stairs up to the top of the jib slide entrance:

And more of the kiddie pool/slide:

Thanks, pixarmom! As you may have seen on that post, I did end up finding a photo I took from the crows nest that showed some of the area across from the slide, including the bench. But please keep in mind taking a pool level picture of that area on your next photo mission...

I also meant to respond to your question about hopping. I am a huge hopping fan, but I think for your one day trip, planning to stay at EPCOT all day with your youngest is the way to go.

Don't eat into your short visit with wasted travel time from one park to another. Especially if you are planning any resort/swim time.

I think you will find plenty to do there. Is your little guy still too young for a Kim Possible mission or would he enjoy one or two? You could spend some relaxed time at the Living Seas aquarium, Turtle Talk with crush, Innoventions, or other attractions where you may not spend much time when you are rushing from thrill ride to thrill ride with the older kids.

And as you well know, there are no shortages of eating options!

May I recommend a picnic over by the jumping water fountains near the Imagination Pavillion?

I have been lurking here for quite awhile, since we were back and forth on which resort to stay at. (Dolphin, which we adore or BC.)
I love this thread and every one is so helpful. I feel like an expert and I have never stayed at BC!;)

I can now be officially added to the list! March 18-24th. (We may add a day if flights are cheaper.)

We really wanted CL, but they are not available with or without a discount. CL must be really popular, which makes me want to stay there more!

Any opinions on requests? I would like to be close to pool and/or food court. We reserved standard because we do not care about a view. Any advice on how to word that would be appreciated.

We are home. :sad1:

We got to meet Teena on our way out. She's a sweetheart. I hope we get to see her again really soon. I wanted to book a bounceback but DH (D is not for dear in this case) needs some down time before he decides that this trip was wonderful. ha ha

Pixarmom: I don't think you need to park hop. It sounds like you can have a great day just at Epcot!

LaurieN: Can't wait to see your pics. I'm sure we bumped into eachother several times during our overlapping stays. My son was very eager to share his gibberish and bus toy with Teena - it must be a boy thing.

Congrats to everyone who has a BC/YC trip booked. I super :lovestruc this resort and I miss it already. It is my new happy place!

We never went near the kiddie slide so I have no idea what the set up is. I'm glad others were able to field that. My DD decided to start trying swimming without a life jacket on this trip. Also, DS decided this was the first trip where he would "swim" without being suction cupped to Mommy. As a result we spent almost all of our swimming time in the section right by the Poolside store.

I have about 57 loads of laundry to do as well as baking for some preschool thing tomorrow. Oh, and we rolled in about 2am today only to find that my DM (darn Mother) broke our deadbolt while watching our house. Breaking into your own home at 2am when you are dog tired is super, duper fun. Gotta love the crash landing straight back into reality.

Only 194 more days until our first BCV stay and I can't wait! My brain is in full planning mode today. Uh oh..I should be doing laundry or cleaning haha but hey...it's my day off so why not spend it on the disboards!

Is an ADR needed for breakfast at Cape May Cafe? I'm not positive if we'll really want to go or not..but just in case we decide last minute..can you usually be a walk in?

Love your son's statement in your signature. From the mouth of babes.

Very cool surprise for your children. :cool1:We're big fans of dinner at the various restaurants in World Showcase. It is so easy to walk there for dinner after an afternoon at SAB .

Hurricane Hannah's is a great choice for a Quick Service meal if you're in the mood for burgers. The cheeseburgers there are exactly the same as those in Beaches and Cream. Very good.

Happy planning.

I've always made reservations for Cape May breakfast even if dining early. It always seems busy to me. Perhaps someone else has tried walking up with success??? We have had luck walking into Captain's Grille for breakfast. It's on the YC side, is not a character meal and offers a la carte as well as a buffet. I prefer it to Cape May personally. Have fun at BCV. It's heaven.:cloud9:

We just got back today too and we got to meet Teena too. She is the sweetie (I am the one who was telling her my cancer story)

I havent gotten caught up yet, but if anyone else just got back can you tell me if you had plumbing issues with your room??

All I can say is I am glad we checked out today as the room was gurgling starting at 4 am and later when we got up dh looked into the tub and found, um, brown matter:scared1::scared1: coming up in it. He turned on the shower, rinsed it off and out and advised me not to use it.

Our room was gurgling for over 2 hours.

we had a water view on the 3rd floor overlooking the lake.

(Teena, we kept the original room with the standing balcony)

Darn! You caught me time traveling again! Somebody has to run to all the non club level rooms at the Beach Club and slip those phone books in the room. (I stole them from the Boardwalk Inn BTW)

Gross! I seem to remember someone about a month or less ago having plumbing issues as well. Wonder what is going?

If you really want CL, keep calling. I'd probably call every other day. It might open up.

Re: Plumbing.

I remember one night some guys outside my room area talking about water issues as they were passing by. They were clearly some sort of maintenance and manager type people. We were not having any issues at that time. Sure enough we had no hot water the next morning. When DH used the hot tap, some grotty stuff came out. It was working again a short time later though.

Oh, I do have another plumbing related story. On my second night, I had the fortune(?) of being in the bathroom during Illuminations. The fireworks were going off so loud and crazy that the commode shook. Honest to goodness it felt like the bathroom was being bombed except that I knew it was the fireworks. This was a nightly occurence. I made DH check it out after I had experienced it a second time. Word of caution: If you are in room 5675, don't sit on the commode during Illuminations!!!
