Hello! We are a family of 5, My DH, myself and 3, 14 year old girls that will be arriving early March and I have a couple questions. Do I need to request a daybed or will we automatically be assigned one since we are a party of 5?

Second question. Do they have wristbands for Stormalong Bay? One of the girls absolutely hates having anything on her wrists, so I am wondering if it is something that she can just wear to swim and then take off. If we all go to the pool together, do we each need to show a room key or can just my husband or myself show a key?

Thanks for all your help!

Ummm, did someone say BACON? I'm there!!! The kids make fun of my regular pizza order:vegetarian with bacon. Because everything is better with bacon, even vegetarians.

Glad your cruise went so well, Teena!!!

Heading into our third major snowstorm this week, and it's gonna be a doozy. Apparently it's starting now on Friday night (wind is howling) and it won't be over until SUNDAY AT NOON. How long until this frickin vacation again????? 100+ km an hour winds, about 30 cm of snow. Thats about a foot of snow and about 65 mile per hour winds for my US friends. Sigh. If we lose power I will lose my mind!!!! Charging iPods and DS's to stave off crushing kid boredom if they can't go out in it (although my DS will go out in anything!).

How's the snowstorm going Feckless? Everyone safe and warm inside?

Although I am also from the great white north, it is warm and sunny here with not a speck of snow to be seen on the ground, so I've been thinking of you and hoping your snowstorm isn't too bad.

Looks like you had a lovely time on your cruise, Teena. Welcome back!

It's so crazy to read about snowstorms because it has been an insanely mild winter here -- not only with snow, but with temperatures (no complaints from me). Stay warm!

Sitting in the airport waiting for flight. Hard to believe today is the day!

Feckless, good luck with the storm. If you use duct tape don't post the pictures. Dont' want you arrested before your trip!

Rusty4, I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Still need lots more pictures and info- this will be a work in progress.

vicki_c- would you mind if I added the pictures you posted to the VP section of this thread? I wouldn't post the video or any pictures with people in it.

Let me send you a link to some better pictures. I have them here on my computer and just need to pick the better ones and upload to Flickr. Those other ones I posted there before were just from my phone. Give me a few DAYS! (that was my edit - sorry I am busy today and can't get it done right now) and I will send you a PM with some links you can use.

Feckless: Hope you're enjoying the snow. I have not missed it this winter. Not at all.

Rusty: Have a fabulous time (like I need to tell you that). Can't wait to hear all about it.

houndmom: Wish I could answer your questions, but I haven't stayed there yet. Just wanted you to know that your post has been read and I'm sure that someone who knows will be able to answer you soon! And Welcome to the crazy board. ;-)

The only thing better than bacon - DUCT TAPE. :thumbsup2

So excited Rusty is on her way. Can't wait for the reports! If she's posting from the airport chances are high for reports DURING the trip which are my favorite!

Yes, we are surviving "El Blizzardo Diabolo" as my husband is calling it. Power is on, coffee is on, and DD is asking to go to the Mall, which is, of course, open. Her friend's mom is picking her up in her giant truck. I said if she can get to the curb through the drifts, have at it! LOL. I think I can dig out some Carmel Baileys for a perfect addition to my snowstorm morning coffee.

Just back from our 4 nights of Beach Club heaven! Managed to keep the surprise from hubby until we were crossing the border! Enjoyed every second of our CL stay. Already dreaming of going back!

I LOVE bacon! We have it on the weekends that we are home together. YUM! :grouphug:

Dee, I really do need multi-quoting for dummies. When I try it, I get an error message. I know its me, I am not good at computer stuff. :surfweb:

Teena, I enjoyed the pictures & video from your cruise. Looks like a great time.
MM, Thanks for posting them for us to see.

Welcome to all who are new to this great board! I love it here & check in whenever I can. I also love the BC! We stayed there for the first time last June & my family had a fantastic time! Beautiful resort and friendly CM's. This June we are using some of our DVC points to try BCV. Looking forward to it! I just wish BCV had a CL option!

Bought some bacon yesterday and had it for breakfast this morning. YUM!!

Welcome back 2/3. Glad you had a great time!!

houndmom, we are a family of five and our only request is "full balcony." In other words, we don't request a daybed. Whenever I've tried to add daybed request, he CMs on the phone have told me that isn't necessary because we'll always get a daybed to accomodate our party. There was one time when we experienced a hiccup with the daybed and the first CM did not handle it well (highly unusual at BC.) But as always, BC resolved the issue quickly and better than we could have imagined!

Regarding the SAB wristbands, our youngest is the same way. We tear or cut the wristband off immediately after swimming. In the past, they have distributed a different color wristband each day. And if we return later the same day, we just show our room keys again and get him a new wristband. I usually need to use nail clippers to remove the wristband - it's tough to tear. Also, sometimes when he doesn't want the band on his wrist, we'll put it around his ankle.

Hope that helps!

Your post inspired me to create a new thread all about Beach Club Deluxe Rooms, Suites, and the VP and Presidential Rooms:

Beach Club Deluxe, Suites, VP and Presidential Rooms

I uploaded the pictures I have.

Still need lots more pictures and info- this will be a work in progress.

Hi Dee! I posted on the new thread regarding the label for the photo I took of the quiet pool (view from 2-bedroom suite - Room 3511.) And I'm happy to add our 2-bedroom suite photos - but I took a ton so it will take a little time - should be able to do that next week! Excited to see all the photo contributions to the new thread - thanks for setting it up!

Still rooting for your Patriots! And we're now at the point where my husband has agreed to watch the SuperBowl - but no parties.

Each person has to show their room key. That keeps "visitors" from entering SAB. It's not unusual for, let's say for example, a grandmother and grandfather who are staying at the BC to try to get their four children and their twelve grandchildren, all of whom are staying at Allstars or the Poly or any other resort, to come to SAB with them. They will not be allowed in. Only the grandmother and grandfather. This way, SAB does not get overloaded with people. It is only open to people who can show their room keys that have numbers on them that indicate either the YC, BC or BCV, including children entering with their parents.

Teena, I was watching for you in the lobby, now I know why I didn't see you! Disapointed I didn't get to meet you, but so glad you had a fab time on your cruise! Next time!:)

As for removing those SAB wrist bands and other parks merchandise tags, I recommend packing a small pair of scissors in your checked baggage.

The TSA allows Scissors - metal with pointed tips and blades shorter than four inches in checked and carry on baggage and that includes the total length of the scissors. Some people make the mistake of thinking that the blades only are measured for the length and it's the total length of the blade AND the handle.

If you do bring any kind of scissors in your carry on you may well attract extra attention from TSA. I had a pair of pliers in my camera bag that the TSA wanted me to pull out to measure and make sure that they were under the 7 inch limit (they were) I saw on the TSA web site that you could carry on "tools" but I didn't realize they would measure the size to be sure.

I also recommend for anyone flying that they check the TSA's web site for the latest info. Having this information ahead of time takes some of the stress out of flying. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#4

I hope that helps..

We have had a strange winter here too. We had snow in October that canceled school for almost a week :scared1: No real snow since......

What kind of bacon do you have in the UK? Is it like Canadian bacon?

You can have all the time you need!!! And thanks! PM is fine, or if you want to email to beachclubdee@yahoo.com that is fine too. That is an email address I use mostly for DIS stuff.

I am so glad to hear you had a great time!

Welcome back 2/3. Glad you had a great time!!

I purchased bacon too. For the past two playoff games, my son has had buffalo turkey subs with microwave bacon (my DH did the shopping for that game), but now we have to keep getting the nuked bacon. Meatball subs on the menu again for the rest of us, to help ensure a victory.

And thanks for the support tomorrow.

erm I have no idea what Canadian bacon loooks like! But UK bacon comes in different cuts, we prefer medallions which are a smaller piece of bacon with no fat. The next sort of cut is back bacon which is a medalion with a short piece of bacon with some fat, then middle bacon which has a longer end with more fat. Finally steaky bacon which is what seems to be served in the US and crisped to within an inch of its life :confused3

I always cook my bacon on my George Foreman grill so the grease drips off. YUM! We don't have any food traditions here, since sometimes it's both of us and sometimes it's just me. I do have a certain outfit that I've been wearing all season and I have to use my special super bowl glass (I thought I broke it in 2001 when I kicked it off the table, but it survived.)
