Now I'm starting to panic a little!!! :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:eek: I'm taking my girls (ages 10 and almost 8) for our first mother/daughter trip (DH has to work) for 4 nights leaving this Sat and returning home Wed. I've been tracking hurricane Danielle and I'm confident from all I've seen that she's staying far away from FL.... but the tracks show that there's a possibility that she might hit the New England area on or about the day we're due home to MA :scared1: Fingers crossed she turns more north/east!!!!

And..... my mom (age 59) has been battling metastatic breast cancer for almost 2 years now and for months has been feeling rather well.... but the last couple of days has been running a low-grade fever and feeling lousy :confused3:sad2: I'm praying she feels better before we leave or I'll be a nervous wreck on the trip :( :( Checking up on her daily (Dad's with her) until we go to make sure it's ok to still go....

Haven't heard about that. I find that the problems occur mostly at the parks (including water parks and DTD) coming back to the resorts and I think there should be a roving transportation CM at all those locations (we're talking 4 parks, 2 water parks and DTD's two stops - so a total of 8 places) whenever buses are running from those locations. They should be armed with a radio with direct contact to the dispatcher. This could eliminate 99% of the problems. When I wrote letters back at the time when I was a guest and not a CM, I always suggested that. Feel free to use my suggestion in any emails or letters any of you send. I honestly think that's a way to solve most of the problems. As far as the boats and how hot they are, I have no idea ... sounds like an engineering/mechanical problem to me.

Yea, I didn't think they could have put cameras in that fast from when we were there just a couple of weeks ago, and the information was passed along to us as sort of a "We're not sure if this is true or not, but..." type of thing. I tend to agree with you that a radio contact person in touch with the dispatcher would be a great idea. I'll have to include that in my next letter -I just fired off a lengthy email the other night to Disney with comments and suggestions from our last trip.

Safe travels to you, Teena!

On my way to airport. I'll have access to a computer most of the time I'm out with Jeanne (but only once a day) so I'll try to keep up.

I have two pin requests, one for September and one for October. If any of you that want them for September or October would wait until I get home (September 4th) before sending me a PM, I'd appreciate it. Obviously I won't have my "pin list" with me at Jeanne's ... it's home in front of my computer.

Hope everybody has a super time at the Y&B!!!

Have a great trip with Jeanne.

I have 155 pins done. :thumbsup2 and ready to ship out to Teena. Should I wait to mail the box until next week? Again, if anyone wants a pin before I arrive at BC on Sept 11th, please let me know ASAP and I will mail direct to hotel or let DrMomof3 to leave for you at front desk since I sent her a few extras. If you will be there 9/11-19 or few days after, please PM and I will bring them with me and leave for you.

Here again is the pic of the pins:

The buttons are FREE, but if you want one after 9/19, you must give Teena 3 weeks notice so she can get everything together for you.

Hi All,

I am booked at BC for my bday in November (17-21). I booked on the bounceback offer and at the time CL was not available. I really want to stay CL. Should I keep calling to check or was it excluded from the deal altogether? Note that I want to pay for it I’m not looking for a freebie.

Thanks!

I would keep calling that's what I have been doing, although at this point I don't think CL will be available for my trip, but there's always next time. I would also check the website to see if they list cl rooms avl during your stay that way you'll have a better idea if CL is sold out or they are excluding from the discount.
Good Luck! Jill

How limited is the amount of rooms at YC with king beds? We have a king bed room request for our water view room, but we actually wouldn't mind if it's 2 queens or 2 doubles. Are we limiting our possible room choices if we request a king bed? We're hoping for a lake view (that's not in our room request at this point). Also, are all the rooms with king beds smaller in size? I read somewhere that the rooms with the murphy king beds are smaller...is there a chance we would end up with one of those if we keep the king bed request in?

Thanks Katesdad and kldmom2000 for the answers about Christmas decorations!

We are considering the YC at Christmas time (although I had a wonderful stay at the BC in May so I'm not sure) and just wanted to make sure they both were decorated. Thanks again! :santa:Now on with the planning....:upsidedow

Is there a meet planned for the September DISers? I've combed the thread since this post, but didn't see any and thought it would be fun. We'll be there the third weekend of the month. Thanks for all the great information on this thread!

One important note on the Beach Club/Yacht club resorts - Early magic hours started at 8 a.m. BUT there was NO place to get a hot (good, filling) breakfast before 7:30 a.m. Well, if you are going to be at the parks by 8, you had to be out for a bus by 7:05 or forget it. So, there were MANY mornings when we were going to the parks starving.

We had the deluxe dining plan. One morning we tried room service. It was ok, but at 2 credits for what was not 2 people's worth of food not a good choice. We tried getting something the night before and basically having snacks for breakfast, that was ok, but not ideal. We tried eating as soon as the park opened for everyone but it was rare to find a place open before 11. Overall it was very frustrating!! And disappointing. We finally drove over to Carribean Beach Resort which had a great food court that opened at 6 or 6:30 forgot which and we could easily eat and get back in our car (or hopped on a bus from there) and got to the park with plenty of time to spare.

Another disappointment was that our room was literally half a mile from the elevator (we did the math as we walked it so many times, so many carpets that were each at least 20 feet long, plus the carpets in the middle, etc.) While this was good practice for math during the summer it was NOT fun when you were tired from a day in the park and in order to fill up the refillable mugs you had to go up to your room, get the mugs and go down to the filling station, then back to your room again - a two mile walk when you are done!!

So, request a room by the elevator ...

Last disappointment - despite a note asking for towel animals and a talk with a manager (they called me about something else by accident and it came up) we only had 3 towel creations in our 11 nights of staying there. My girls were really looking forward to them. I think if you pay deluxe your stay should be MORE special then when we stayed at a moderate.

Towel animals are a treat and don't automatically come with the resort mousekeeping. I'm guessing it all depends on how busy the resort is. It's a shame to set yourself up for disappointment but expecting them.

Deluxes do not have food courts. The choices are either a quick breakfast from BC Marketplace or Boardwalk Bakery, or skip the parks with the extra am magic hours and do a sit down breakfast at either Cape May Buffet or the Captain's Grill. Another option is to skip the deluxe dining plan, go with the regular and stay CL. That way you have a breakfast option every morning.

You can always request a room change if you feel that your room is too far away.

It's always best to check out the resort sites first - that way you know if the resort meets your needs.

Being an early riser I think the marketplace opens way too late. That was my one and only disappointment with the beach club. Sorry to hear you had such a long walk. I definetely requested a room by the elevator for this trip so we'll see what happens.

Safe travels to you, Teena!

On August 14th, our last full day at the BC, we were waiting for a bus to DTD. We met a nice young man, hired through the college program, working in transportation with a radio and a tablet or document of some sort at the stop. He told us that the next bus would be coming in 20 minutes (side note - in the end I think it was shorter than that and this was our longest wait of the week as we barely waited all the other times!). I don't know if this was new, but we had not noticed anyone working there during the rest of our stay.

Hey Disney1976 - did you see the DISMeet photo I posted last week?

Hi Teena!! :wave2: Have a great trip and enjoy your time with Jeanne!

So you DID make it to DTD your last day! Hope you had a great time. We were thinking of you when we were waiting for ME and hoping you had a safe (and early!) flight home.

Do you check your bags through to the resort with the luggage tags or do you pick them up yourself? We check them through.

Always use the yellow tags so we don't have to touch them until we unpack them. This next trip we can't do that as we'll be spending the night at the airport Hyatt before heading over to YC the next day (got a cheap flight on a Sunday evening and a free room at the hotel from points).

Thanks for the information on picture posting. We'll have to try it one of these days.

Do we have a December list going yet?? We are December 3-11 at Beach Club. Anyone else out there??

Hi! We're at YC CL Dec. 16-21. This is a surprise Christmas trip for our three kids. (SHHHH!!!) :goodvibes

Hope you have a great trip, Teena!
