2010 Planner - Really???

I was most surprised that there wasn't a 2011 calendar. Yes, I got the 2011 insert with points chart, but there isn't a calendar. At this point in 2010, aren't most of us looking at planning for 2011? I like receiving the book but I think it needs to be more timely.

We finally received ours a few days ago. It is pretty yes, bulky yes, wasteful yes. But I like having a hard copy myself, and don't always just want to see everything on a monitor.

No need to settle for just seeing it on a monitor if you print it out though. I printed the new charts off the DVC site and then inserted them in my old ring binder myself!

You're right...but you have the binder. We weren't yet members when they still had those. We've only known these soft bound books, which sit on a shelf. I've printed out all of the points charts and put into my own file in my desk drawer at my office, and then we have the books at home - so it works, it's just not "as nice".

i agree with the rest of your comments, but i've read several times that our maintenance fees/annual dues are not used to pay for the planners...

Yes heard the same; Maintenance Fees are not used for planners.

Would be nice if they arrived sooner and it's too bad that some members are receiving them without 2011 insert; I don't blame them for being annoyed.

IMO... these have become more glamorous booklets because somewhere, someone did a marketing study and decided that with beautiful glossy books, we current owners will gladly show a friend their DVC planner and it will get them interested in buying. There's no reason to try to "hook" us. We're in. Sure... maybe some add-ons... but they really want the newbies.
They skimp and make cuts everywhere we look... but expand on the planner??? C'mon guys... it's about marketing... if it's not making them money, they wouldn't be doing it.

We're in Vancouver (Canada, not WA) and we still haven't gotten ours yet either. I expect it will be June by the time we get it as some of you in the US haven't received yours and in my experience (with magazines at least) we always get things several weeks later. It does seem like a giant waste of money (especially as they FedEx ours, not sure how they send it down there)... especially since we've already got our 2010 and most of 2011 planned out and booked already.

I do really like the idea of a binder system though... it might get stuff out faster too since it would be less to print and less $$ to ship.

As for Disney's IT, my husband is a systems architect for a computer database systems company and designs systems and user interfaces and such. The DVC site drives him so batty, I end up using it much more than he does as he gets too frustrated with the site

I agree BRING BACK THE BINDER! It was so much easier to use, and they would only need to send out new point charts, not an entirely new "planner", thus saving money. I will admit, I still use my binder. I just photocopied the points planner (used to keep track of point useage), and I'll hole punch the new points charts.

The binders definitely were NOT black and white boring print! They were point charts much like what we have in the planners now, but they came as individual pages that we replaced the old ones with when we recieved them. They usually sent two years charts at a time...one on each side, and there was a seperate one for each resort. If there were any changes to the POS or rules and regs or even changes in the trade options, those also were included with nice color pages. They all fit nicely in the sturdy cloth covered ring binder we recieved with our purchase. It has a ncie printed DVC logo on the front, and I still keep mine, even though they haven't updated it for years. For several years I just kept adding the new charts to the binder anyway, but when all the rules started changing so often, I quit doing that.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE BINDERS AND FILLER PAGES!!!

Having a planner is nice and I think many of us like it. HOWEVER, DVC is a year behind I don't buy a 2010 dayrunner in August.

We just bought a resale contract a month ago - it was actually a 150 pt and 50 pt bundled together. Yesterday, two planners arrives. We guess it's because we have two contracts, ot maybe it was just a mistake. One for DH and one for me! But what a waste! At least they included the 2011 pt charts in the back.

We recieved our planner Saturday. I am still unsure what the point is this far into 2010. If I was a new member I think I would really like the nice planner that had the layout of the rooms as well as ammenities of each resort.These could be included in the welcome paperwork when you join DVC or purchased by the individuals that want one.But after you have planned a couple of trips I would rather recieve a notice that our planner was available for download from the members website if we wanted a hard copy otherwise it could be referenced in an electronic format. I just think this is a waste of our dues to send everyone a planner when for the most part those of us that are going to the world this year or even early next year have made our plans.
