Have any of you ever looked into renting DVC points? It was suggested to me by a girlfriend who is a DVC owner. I have gotten the 2010 pin code and am thinking of CSR 11/28/10 to 12/4/10, but may also investigate DVC points. Just wondering!

Renting will likely be the cheapest way to go, but you have to factor in "going deluxe."

What's the quote on the cbr rez?

If you usually stay at a value or mod, the pin code would be a much better deal. DH and I rent points because we prefer deluxes and when I price out a rack rate room equivalent to the DVC room I would rent points for, it is usually at least 50% cheaper or more to rent points. I've never heard of a pin code that big, so for us it's a better deal to rent.

CSR is $149/night for 5 nights and then $159 for our last night...that is before the 30% off. If I am doing the math correct, it's $638.20 for six nights on those dates.

It is also important to research and understand the differences between a DVC rental and getting a reservation from Disney.

First of all, availability is different and if you are going at a busy time (and the first week of December is busy for DVC), you want to book close to 11 months out.

Second, the reservation will stay in the control of the member. They own it and will be the only one who can make changes, add the DDP for you (if you want that) or add ME.

Third, there is no daily mousekeeping with DVC. Depending on the length of the stay, depends on what you get.

The biggest piece, I think, is the cancellation policy. Since this is a friend, it may be different, but it is typically more restrictive.

But, you can get a great deal on the DVC villas this way, especially if the pin you have does not include the DVC rooms.

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the feedback...I think you've talked me into just using my pin code. Although my girlfriend made the suggestion, she does not have points for us to use, and we'd need to find them on our own. With having to depend on the DVC owner to make changes/add DDP, I think I am better off just doing this on my own! Maybe I have control issues!:scared1:

Doesn't hurt to ask though! Thanks again!
