2010 news from the Magic

Hope it held at Southampton or UK? Because check the flight seem expensive for Oslo or Denmark!!!

I'd say it's very unlikely the Baltic cruises will start in Oslo or Copenhagen, since it's a 12-night. The Med cruises could start elsewhere, however - like Barcelona.

subscribing - would like to do a TA - we loved the WB Panamal Canal Repo and would love to do another long cruise - unless the TA is only 7 or 8 days - how many days were they last time?

Krisann

Hi Krisann! The TA was 14 days. Hope everyone is doing good!

Me too - I'm gutted as a teacher I'm going to miss out on the baltic as we dont finish until 23rd July :sad2:

Hi Mrs Jobba1

I agree regarding the unlikely departure from Oslo or Copenhagen. Most likely London or maybe Amsterdam.

I'm kind of thinking that many of those 2009 cruises selling now are place holders for folks waiting to transfer to 2010.

I know for me, I have absolutely no interest in the 2009 cruise we have booked, I'm planning to move it to a 2010 date, possibly one of the June Baltics (if St. Petersburg is included).

Definitely the case for us. We're most likely doing an Alaska cruise in 2009. Have two dummy cruises with DCL right now. One in July (Tortola) and a December one.

i wouldnt count on a 7 night dvc member cruise until the new ships come out.
so probaly in 2011 we will see it and it will probaly be on the magic or wonder not on the new ship.just my guess

We're just starting to look into buying into DVC. For the DVC Member cruise - is it only DVC Members onboard?

I've been a member of DVC since 1992...and have never been on a member cruise.....have always wondered the same.....:confused3

Yes, it is just for DVC members and their family/guests. Actually, DVC charters the ship from DCL.

I would like to see them leave from Amsterdam. Just took a Baltics cruise this past summer and left from Dover, 2½ hours from London.

With all of the turmoil around the financial world wonder if this will affect prices and bookings?
;)

I was thinking the same thing. I hope DCL prices them competively from the outset. ;) While I'm excited and I think that there are a lot of people on these boards who will book regardless of the latest financial news, I truly think there far more people who will hesitate before booking such an expensive vacation right now.

:worship:Okay all you experienced "MedHeads"!!! Any suggestions as to which airlines have the best rates?? We'd be flying out of FL. We're thinking about Med/Transition/Baltic.. whooo hoooo :woohoo: 29 Days Of European MAGIC!!! That's our wish list of course... we'll see what really happens!! :lmao: If the transition cruise covers some Med ports... maybe we'll just do Transition/Baltic. I'd love to correspond with someone who can give me tips on the Med ports though. :teacher: What to see/ what to skip etc. But I'm getting ahead of myself... ;) I'm just too excited for these announcements!!

Hi there! I'm catching up on my reading today. Someone posted names of a few charters that fly out of the Sanford airport in Orlando - can't remember the names off the top of my head. Aer Lingus has good one way rates and are competitive on round trip fares as well - although you have to change planes in Dublin. Also check United, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic. We did the Med cruise in 2007, so I have lots of info when we get closer. More later.

For those of you on the Med cruise in '07, what kind of excursions did you do in each stop? Are we going to be able to do a "hop on hop off tour bus" during ANY of the stops? When we travel, we usually do this first to get the quickest info and we use the bus as a form of transportation to different tourist spots.

Also, we plan to fly in 3-4 days ahead to do a LITTLE sightseeing before our cruise and then fly home directly after the cruise.

We flew in a few days early to Barcelona. They have a great hop-on/off bus. We used that all day long to sightsee on our own. Its a very easy city to tour on your own. Lots of people speak English. I would ask someone a question in Spanish (usually the location of the bathroom), and they would smile and answer me in English!!

As far as other ports, there was such a large variety of excursions and things to do, I'm sure you'll get tons of different reports. We did some excursions, some things on our own, and one private tour. The private tour was FABULOUS (we shared a van with another family we met on the boards)!! We weren't crazy about the excursions - felt a little trapped and herded like cattle. On future cruises, we'll do more on our own and maybe take a private tour or 2. Check cruisecritic.com for more ideas and things to do in ports.
