2010 news from the Magic

I'm already dreaming about a Transatlantic!!

Interesting theory about the sea testing though... verrry interesting, though technically the ship wouldn't have to "dock" in an actual port in order to sail around for sea testing. So I'm not sure it would show up on a docking schedule.

I know I am most likely wrong, but what if DCL is just using the Magic as a slot holder for some type of sea and port testing for the first new ship. This hit me after I found out from Denmark they go to Germany. Combine that with the fact it seems like there is no sort of a constant schedual, got me thinking. Honestly I hope I am very wrong about this as I really want to take this if it comes true.

Interesting thought but why would Oslo also be noted on the Copenhagen site as being one of the ports the Magic is coming from or going to?

I was thinking something along those lines. DCL knows that DISers have figured things out in the past. What if they scheduled it this way for the sea and port testing and Alaska is really what they are looking at (permit for Glacier Bay that was filed). Maybe they are trying to confuse us :lmao: It seems to be working.

Any cruise line that put in a request for the permit for 2010-2019 will not know until mid to end of 2009 if it was approved.

DCL could also just be announcing Jan-May in October for the 2010 dates and announce the rest of the year later as they have done at times in the past. I hope they do announce the whole year together but that is a possibility

I LOVE your thinking! I really wanted to go to Alaska:sad1:

Now come on surley you and your connections know exactly where the Magic is going to be in Summer 2010.:thumbsup2

Alaska they havent even got the permit yet.;)

I was told OCTOBER 21ST, A few others have reported a week after preview so 14th.

This is interesting. We are actually going to be in Disneyland on the 21st, so it sounds like I will have to do it over the phone. Will the phones open at 9 pm Pacific time on the 20th for booking, or will I have to wait until the 21st?

Wouldn't June 2010 be too early for sea trials for a ship that isn't scheduled to set sail for real until early 2011. I don't know how soon the ship trials run but the ship must be at least 100% ready in engines and outside work before it can do sea trials, doesn't it? The inside decor doesn't have to be done but I would think the other stuff would. I think they also built the ship in two halves and then join it together

They have done different times before but 8am Eastern, 21st is the best guess but it has also been 1pm, Eastern to tie in with Disneyland CL, If there is a press event it would open up just after that. The Med and first Panamas had a press event.

I do not think they would be ready for sea trials then. And if so why go to Oslo? A ship left that DCL shipyard this week to go into service in November and have sea trials.

June WOULD be early. Sea trials generally take place a few months before the ship is completed. So if you're looking at a January release date, maybe the sea trials would be Sept/Oct. Late August would be possible-- perhaps a great photo opportunity sailing near the Magic. That's the kind of stuff the promotional department would love.

Maybe those ports are good for some type of new docking thrusters or something like that. Please do not get me wrong, I hope this is true. I have been wanting to go the Scandanvia area on a cruise fir a couple of years now and I would love to do it with DCL. But since DCP knows how good some are at reasearch, this may be a throw off. I hope I am wrong.

We need to find more ports that have the Magic coming. How do you do this? Oh STEPH.........

When the itinerary preview is released on the 7th, will the pricing accompany it? I'd like to play around with various combinations of staterooms ahead of time. That way, I'll be ready to book when it opens.

If we decide to do the WB TA, would you recommend that I book that right away, or wait to see if the price drops like it did on the 07 TA?

Before Steph found this I had been looking for months trying to confirm that it was the Baltic, even tonight I have looked at Southampton UK, Harwich UK, both possible home ports, I have looked at the port of St Petersburg.

Try Bermuda, for transatlantics, try Lisbon or Madeira for either TA or another Europe cruise. Gibraltar Cadiz Spain and Ternerife.

I found $933 (incl tax) the other day out of Dulles - roundtrip. I think the carrier was BMI (??never heard of them), but when I looked at the flight detail, the flight was actually a United flight. Not sure what thats all about.

J

BMI is British Midland.

They are part of the Star Alliance with United, Lufthansa, Scandanavian (& more).

They will sometimes "sell" seats to a partner carrier.....in this case the plane is a United plane, but UA sold seats to BMI (so that they can sell them as BMI).

You will have the trips, and a price range lowest/highest per each Cat and the 3rd/4th person price. Lowest is 1st tier pricing on first day opening.

Book right away! If the price goes down all you have to do is call DCL and they will refund you.
