Hi.

I've been searching for hours trying to find a points chart for moderate and deluxe resorts :surfweb:. I am not a dvc member, but I want to rent points from a dvc member. Can somebody tell me how many points it take to stay at a moderate resort / standard view for the Regular Season (October).

If you have time, tell me how many points to stay at the Polynesian / Garden View for the 2nd week in June. Thank you!!!

Renting points for a moderate resort will cost more than booking through Disney. That reservation would be an exchange out of the DVC system, so the points are negotiated yearly, and are usually high. Then on top of that you would need to pay an additional $95 for a exchange fee. The best use of DVC points is at DVC resorts. Besides, you will get a far bigger room with a kitchenette at a DVC resort, but not with a moderate or even a deluxe.

I would think it would be cheaper to book without renting DVC points for a Mod or Deluxe considering the deals that Disney has been giving out lately.

If you are able to rent points for $10/point (plus the fee), you are looking at spending $1775 for 7 nights in a moderate. At rack rate, the same thing booked direct through Disney is only $1339. As you can see, there is absolutely no reason to consider renting points for a moderate resort.

The same can be said for the Poly. A week in June at the Poly in a garden room at rack rate would only be $3268. Renting points would cost you $3805.

Although there is nothing wrong with renting points for a moderate or deluxe, it really makes no sense. Renting points is really only a good deal if you are staying at a DVC resort because the point requirements are substantially lower. The points at the DVC resorts are relatively fixed, but the mods and deluxes can and will go up every year.

Good luck with your planning!
