So I was reading another FD thread and learned that the Disney Visa Kids eat/play free had been extended to include our dates. So instead of waiting for FD to come out, I called and went ahead and told them to apply that code.

Well...my total (after my $200 deposit) went from $2960.90 to $2145.45! That's an $815 savings!! Isn't that MORE savings than if/when Free Dining comes out? What am I missing here?:confused3

what are your dates and what hotel? are you doing just QSDP or upgrading?

Here is what we are looking at right now (Sept 25-Oct 1, 6 nights):
We are currently booked at POFQ for free dining for all – cost for us is $1948
The current Visa promotion is for kids play/stay/dine free – Cost at POP - $1595
Last year’s fall promotion (regular FD at any resort) – Cost at POP - $1498
Last year’s Dec promotion (QSDP at value, upgrade to RDP) – Cost at POP - $1642

We hope to be able to switch to POP and save some money.

:guilty:

I think that for the average family of 4, if you have at least 2 kids that fall within that age frame-you will come out better with that deal. A LOT of people keep overlooking that! FD is NOT always the best deal. If both my kids were in that age group, I'd be all over it! I don't care how the savings come about-a deal is a deal & FD isn't always the best one. Personally I was hoping to use my Moms 20/30/40 pin but they won't let me unless she comes :guilty: & that would be a better deal for us with where we want to stay.

THAT SAID-for those interested in FD, I think it will be rolled out later this week (at least something will) based off my dh's convo this morning with a CM. I have a supposed pin code that sounds like a promo code to me & been told to call back with that Thursday or Friday this week.

With 2 kids it is not a better deal especially if you are upgrading to DDP. I have run the numbers and FD will save us another $700. Yes, it is a great savings but I actually am saving more with my %off code. If FD comes out I will save even more. For my DM's room this promo doesn't help at all. I just can't see Disney leaving out people without kids considering that most kids will be in school and what kind of CRAZY parents take their kids out of school...:rotfl::rolleyes1OK, GUILTY:lmao:, we DO but come on Disney not a lot of people do. I think we will see another deal coming soon...

For you, comparing free kids to free QSDP you are better off.

It really depends on the make up of your group, and how long you are staying, and which dining plan you are getting free. While free children discount savings is mostly in the tickets which has relatively little difference for length, the dining plan differs greatly for length. With three children it really makes it a great deal in some cases.

Check out the following comparisons (showing savings)

2 adults 3 children 8 nights (free kids falls in the middle, but is close to free qsdp)
Free kids - 815
Free qsdp - 752
Free DDP - 960

2 adults 3 children 5 nights (free kids is significantly more than Free qsdp)
Free Kids - 725
Free qsdp - 470
Free ddp - 570

On the other hadn if you only had 2 kids:

2 adults 2 children 8 nights - Free Kids is the least of the savings
Free Kids - 543
Free Qsdp - 672
Free DDP - 864

2 adults 2 children 5 nights - Free kids is better than free qsdp but about same as free DDP
Free Kids - 543
Free Qsdp - 420
Free DDP - 540

When I get home - I am gonna check something, for you guys.

I kept the Bounce Back flyer from last year. If I am not mistaken the dates started August 15th (which would make sense as this current offer ends August 14th)

You know - I'm going to search this. I know a thread was on the DIS about it.

I called today to make changes to my current reservation with a pin that I recieved (Yay!) and the CM that I spoke to said at least three times, "There is still time for other offers to come out and they could possibly save you more money." FD would save us more money than are current pin so I don't think everyone should give up hope just yet!

very interesting!

We were able to do this also we are 2A and 2C (4&5). Our package went from $2711.12 to $2134 including upgarding the boys to the DDP. We are staying at Pop so if FD is realeased with the Values only getting QS it would only be an $11 difference. Just happy we were able to book something so my stress level is better, still hoping for FD since my DF and his GF are joining us too. No little ones in that ressie so the DVisa deal did not do anything for them.

Maybe I will borrow a 3 to 9 year old for opur trip, so i don't feel left out of this deal. Anyone want to rent theirs out? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Could somebody help me with this question? I have bounceback with free dining at the WL this Sept with 2A and 2C and upgraded to deluxe dining. Is this a better deal or the Disney Visa kids stay/eat free one? Or should I just call and ask a CM to figure it out for me? Thanks!

How old are your kids?

Just remember with FD you are getting TS not just the QS so it depends on what you want and if you are going to upgrade to DDP from QSDP the savings may be a little less.

Ok this is what we booked last year the day we checked in. Glad we did. We went during the Extended FD offer last year. We had a pin and ended up with the RD plan for free. I just added a day to our stay for a 10 day stay for 100.00 at pop. I hope FD comes out for all. I'm pretty sure it will. Just hang in there.

Just a fyi this offer was never in our room. I searched the boards for this offer before we left. Wrote down all the info. Got to my room and called. I had to call the day we arrived since the prom expired for booking that day.

I still have hope for a good fall deal. Hopefully free dining. Right now the public discount for the kids play free is good until June 3 and the room discount until Aug. 14. The Disney Visa offer for kids play and dine free got extended till Oct., which is only good for families with children under 9. So after Aug 14 there is only discounts for families with children and a Disney Visa (except the lucky ones who got pins) Wow my head hurts. Anyway my point is that there should be some deal for the public after Aug. 14, and for the Disney Visa's without children. Hoping that May 3 is a good day for all.

I just checked my email confirmation and it DID list it as the regular dining plan...with a table service meal included for all five of us! So I don't know if she upgraded me or what...but that seems like an awful good deal! I don't think I'll need to wait for FD anymore!:thumbsup2

Oh..and the details are 2 adults, 3 7-year-olds for 6 nights, 6 day base ticket...regular dining plan...at ASMU suites.
