**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

has anyone had the perogies?? We had them two years ago and they were GREAT...then we had them last year and what a dissapointment!! Was curious about them this year since we are going down in 4 days :-)

We had them Thursday night ... they reminded us of Mrs. T's frozen ... boiled with some carmelized onions.

:rotfl: The pierogies are the same as they have been the past few years, last year they were cooking them weird. This year they were much better.

And DisneyJen: congrats! They are Mrs T's!

Some are noticeably lower:

Tuna Sensation is $5.95 this year

and the Champagnes at the Champagne / Dessert Booth are $5 something (not more than 6) ... almost half the cost of last year's.

FYI - last night (Friday) it was crazy crowded ... tonight will probably be worse!

I have to address this since it was so noticeable to us throughout the week. When we got a glass of champagne on October 2, it was only $5.00. BUT... and this is a very big BUT... it was in one of those teeny, tiny glasses that they used in the culinary demos they had last year. Barely two sips of Moet & Chandon Imperial. When I asked where the flutes were that the champagne is usually served in I was told by a very young CM that WDW was trying to cut down on the amount of drinking. I almost spit the champagne on him! I was not asking for more to drink; I wanted my flute! (I also wanted more to drink for my $5, but that was NOT what I asked.)

The next day they were still using the small glasses (we didn't purchase any there that day), but there were 2 WDW "suits" standing at the kiosk talking to the CMs inside. They wanted to know what kind of glasses they were using and they were shown those tiny ones. I kept walking and forgot about it until the next day. When we went back around the WS they had the flutes of champagne. However, the prices had gone WAY up. The Imperial was now $10 per flute and the Rose' and the Nectar Imperial were considerably higher.

I'm a nice Polish girl from Philly who knows her kielbasa and pierogi:rotfl:

I tell you what ... the drink at Poland was strange too ... Reminded me of drinking the thawed frozen strawberries my mom would use to make strawberry shortcake during the winters in the '70s:sad2:

F&W newbie here - we kinda ate & drank our way around the world this evening. what fun!
Loved the Lobster & scallop Fisherman's Pie! AND the Bailey's cake in Ireland. And the ever-popular cheddar cheese soup in Canada + the Nanaimo bar....tried a few wines and beers, but don't remember which ones!

When you don't know if/that it was so great in previous years, you have nothing to compare it to - but the food we sampled was terrific. It was much more crowded than we thought it would be for a Monday night.

We're doing the D23 Sip N' Stroll on Saturday and I have bo idea how they'll run that.

I'm not sure if ur making a statement or asking a question? Or if u were part of what one commentor on the boards called "flutegate"-I love that term. Several people called and e-mailed higher ups myself included and they listened. U may know all of this.

Anyone go to the French Regional Lunch yet? If so, how was it?

Each lunch (or lunch and wine pairing) is different but I have always found them a lot of fun. Service in Bistro de Paris is always top notch. The key with the FRLs is the wine. That has an impact on what the menu will be. (Don't expect seafood on a Bordeaux day). You will have anywhere from 3-5 wines and most of them will flow freely until the next one begins. For food, Amuse Bouche, Entree, Plat then Dessert. Enjoy!

I guess it is hard to control the crowds now that wristbands are no longer required for EMH. How would you tell a resort guest?

When we were there for extra magic hours in May we had to show our key to the world card before riding soarin'

Mrs. T's??? YIKES!! Why would they serve something you can buy at any grocery store?? What a dissapointment!

I was making a statement. I was there from 10/1-10/10 and just reported what we saw take place in the first few days of the Festival. Unfortunately, I did not read through the rest of the thread before posting my findings or I would have seen part of the reason for the change.

The only thing that is restricted for non-resort guests during evening EMH now is the rides. For that you show your room key. Restaurants and shops are all available to everyone. This did not used to be the case. Previously, one had to show a wristband in order to dine, and from my recollection shop as well, although the shopping point was disputed by a DHS Guest Services Manager when I questioned him about it.

But, Disney clearly has decided that there is no reason not to have the extra income from everybody staying on and shopping and dining (not just resort guests). That is why they did away with the wristbands, requiring only a room key to ride the rides. They did not want non-resort guests to feel funny about shopping and dining without a wristband -- they might actually leave the park, thereby cutting into revenues. Moreover, from my observations, the room keys receive only the most cursory of glances in most cases.

The result of all of this is that the parks are as crowded as ever once evening EMH starts. For us, this change in policy has negated any benefits from EMH. We no longer consider EMH to be a reason to stay on-site.

I went to Link Restaurant Group, Moet & Chandon, and Cake Love over the weekend (Oct. 8 and 9th). I am headed to Jamie Deen on Oct 16th!

Started eating around the world with Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. So far, Puerto Rico was my fav with the Medianoche Sandwich and Frozen Cherry Colada. Puerto Rico's coladas are always AMAZING!

I just got home last night and I am still dreaming of that Cherry Colada! Between that and the Chocolate Molten Cake with the Bailey's Irish Cream ganuche in Ireland IMO that was the utmost!!

Oh YEAH! I had the Chocolate Molten Cake last year and it was GREAT! I can't wait to have it again this year. I'm headed back this weekend so I will be trying that and getting at least one more colada :)
