2010 DCL Points Chart

We are wanting to cruise in the Summer of 2010. I know that the dates will be released in early October. When will the Point Charts for 2010 cruises be released? Is it possible to book with cash and then switch that over to a points reservation? I would like to try to get a Secret Porthole room and I am afraid to wait too long to do this as they go quick. Any insight/information is appreciated!!

The 2010 DCL points won't likely be available for months - these are negotiated annually between DVC and DCL - I think the 2009 points only came out in the past few months.

If you reserve using cash it might be possible to switch it over to points at a later date, but no guarantee.

I 've heard (but haven't done) that you can book with cash down and then use points.. that may help hold the spot for you until you know what the points are.

You can call the day the dates are released and book a room through MS. When the point charts are available, you confirm/release your reservation with MS.

I've always booked my cabin first with DCL and then called MS to transfer once the points are out. I don't want to loose my rate if the points don't work out for me.

I have booked with cash with DCL and then transferred my reservation to points at a later date. I find it allows me to keep a few more options open a little longer.

When DH&I booked the Med, one of us went on points-one cash. When we made our booking through Member services on the day the booking opened, we had to pay the whole cash price right then & there for the one going on cash and they allowed us to reserve the other of us on points. Once the point charts came out, we would have been allowed to cancel if it didn't work for us. Thankfully it did!!!! We're going to do the same for the Baltic.
