2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

I also don't think it's absurd. We're flying from MA and we take a 7 day trip usually. But we also get hoppers and we get water parks, so we have those options as well. I mean, the airfare is the same if you go for 7 days or 10 days. And while I used to like my 14 days trips to Disney those didn't happen too often, every 2 or 3 years. And so yeah, going every year I spend more in air but, but I also don't buy 10 or more day passes either. this year I found great deals (and was actually able to use frequent flyer miles - amazing!) This trip is only 6 days but I've booked a really early flight there and a really late flight home, so we'll have the day we arrive to do a half day in the water park or something else, a mid week water park break, 4 park days and the final day will be DTD, shopping, early dinner, and then home.

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. We can't always get te time off work for 7 days or more and you can do alot in 4 days. As I say, we have been known to drive down on Friday, go to the parks on Saturday and drive home on Sunday. It was rough, but so worth it. We are only going to 4 days in June, and not even 4 full days.

It's probably safer for me that we live all the way up in MA because I'd be asking dh to drive down for long weekends too. I know years ago I would have told you that 14 days wasn't enough, and that was pretty standard, 14 days with 10 day passes. But we've reached a point where we know that even if we went for 3 weeks, we'll never see or do everything and each trip is a new adventure.

any way you slice it, the military tickets are a bargain.

Had a thought last night about the 6 tickets max used per week:

We're going in August (4 of us) - buying 4 new passes without WP. We each have 2 WP&M entries from last year's tickets which we also plan to use during this trip. That will bring us to 8 tickets being used during this one week.

Does that not matter? Does that fall under the 6 used during a week clause? or is it simply 6 new tickets?

You can USE more than 6 tickets in a week, you just can't ACTIVATE more than 6 in a week. And the WPF&M is considered a minor park entitlement anyway.

Wow, 14 days, we have never been for that long. I think our longest trip might have been 11 days and they weren't full days. I think I would run out of things to do in 14 days.

In 2009, we had Annual Passes, so we went 4 times and I hate to say it, I got burned out.

what made me wonder was that the passage that I've quoted a few times (which I admit I never thought applied to me so maybe I never paid enough attention lol) says this: (bold is mine)
No more than twelve (12) Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased, activated and/or used by any Eligible Service Member or spouse during the life of this promotion, and no Eligible Service Member or spouse may purchase, activate and/or use more than six (6) Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets during any single week of the promotion. One (1) of the Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets purchased on each occasion must be for use by the Eligible Service Member or spouse. This offer is for active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists and the U.S. Coast Guard.

so yeah, it says use. But ...crap. I really wonder how they track that. Technically we are using more than 6 tickets. But I don't think we're using them in the way they probably mean. I think they're trying to avoid all 12 being used by extended family. Right? (which was the discussion earlier in the thread...)

In the end, if we have to buy new WP options on our new tickets, it's not the end of the world. It's cheap enough.

oh yes, it's glorious going for 14 days because you can relax. With a 10 day pass you can feel like you're not wasting money if you only spend a few morning hours in the park and a few night hours, or pop in for the afternoon parades , but it also gives you the option to just do other things, like leisurely tour the different hotel food courts lol, or spend a whole day browsing around DTD. or ...sleeping in. I'm a big fan of the 2 week vacation,e ven when we do it at home going to the beach. By the end of that first week you're just starting to relax and then the 2nd week really nails it.

BUt then after 14 days at disney you really don't feel like you need to go back quickly. I'm thinking this will be our first back to back years since DH and I were single - back then we used to come down to florida to visit his grands and we'd take off for a few days to Disney.

I guess I never paid that much attention to it, because it really doesn't apply to us. But, you can still do what you talking about doing, because the waterpark (or DisneyQuest) is considered a minor park entry and is completely different than the major park visits. If they are already activated, I don't see where there would be a problem.

I guess because we go about every 5 to 7 months, we don't need to go for a long time. We did go for 10 days in January and had a very leisurely trip, we boated on Bay Lake and visited other resorts, went to DTD several times. I would be too stressed out about stuff at home to be gone that long, besides they don't like for me to take that much time off work.

I don't know the source of your quote.

However, if you look at Post #17 of the ticket sticky you will see Disney's rules for the tickets, and those are the rules the people in the ticket (and Guest Relations) windows follow. We don't care what the military says; we work for Disney!

I'm sorry, I forgot to link. That was taken from Disney's page:
http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....de=fy11military&market=fy11military#important

but on your post #17 in the ticket sticky thread it doesn't say anything about how many can be used. So, that's why I'm curious. Both are coming from Disney sources. :)

Thanks for your (always) patient help. :)

Once the tickets are activated they are valid tickets with no restrictions (except previously announced block-out dates). Their use is tracked, just as any other ticket, in the Automated Ticketing System. So if a person is carrying two Salute tickets, one with hopping and the other with WPF&M, we really don't care. All that we care about is the total number sold to a service member and that they are activated by either the service member or spouse.

ok great. :) And they all have our names on them so we at least know which finger goes with which. LOL.

2011 - Adult $37.77 plus tax

This was $16/ticket savings. Great price compared with regular price tickets for Sept 2011:

I was glad for that discount last year. I'd have been very disappointed had I paid full price for last year's party. I won't do MNSSHP again until all of Fantasyland is open. The 2010 party was so much better than that overcrowded nightmare last September.

We are going to be using the military tix this September and are currently debating adding the MNSSHP as well.

What made last years party such a nightmare?

Darn that fiscal year....we are going to miss out on the tickets for Food and Wine in October again! We thought of trying to do F & W the last few days of September, but we already booked at the BW, and doubt if we can change it now.

Okay, with the 4 day military promotional tickets, I understand we have to "activate" them. What needs to be done to "activate" them? Can they be activated at Shades of Green or does it have to be at the park? I'm asking because we want to be at rope drop at MK on our first day there, and I don't want to be held up filling out paperwork. Any help would be appreciated! :thumbsup2
