DH's employer has announced the 2 weeks that they will initiate a plant-wide shut down next year (end of July & week after Xmas).

He is eligible for another 2 weeks of vacation...so we wouldn't be locked into those 2 weeks.

Have read this is one of the worst weeks (crowd-wise) to visit WDW...

Is it safe to assume that it's one of the more popular times to book DVC? guess it's anybody's guess as to how the new ressie system will come into play:confused3 . I'd be looking @ booking @ 11 month window (not 'walking it')

Have a feeling airfare will be thru the roof too (current SW is high, yet no idea as to what it started out @ when schedule was 1st released)

Any suggestions from those who have gone "home" this week as to whether it is 'worth it'?popcorn::

Our facility shuts down for a week also during Christmas and NYE.

I didnt plan on travelling this time of year, but Im off, the kids are out of school, Dh is flex, and entertaining them during this time and escaping the madness of the holiday season, we started taking off 2 weeks and spending them at our DVC homes.

You need to book right away. NYE sells out first thing. You want to be on the phone at opening for that.

We think it is worth it. We get a nice long vacation, plenty to do and I we drive since it is 2 weeks between trips.

We love the resort and don't feel pressed to be in the parks and usually wait until after NYE to go in.

The week after Christmas is the highest point season for DVC, the highest prices for cash rooms, and the highest crowds of the year. :scared1:

You did mention the last week in July....we've had short trips around then for the last couple of years. The weather is hot and muggy, but otherwise it's not that bad of a time to visit. This past July we did a lot of pool-hopping; in fact, we got evacuated from three different pools on different days due to thunderstorms. Kind of added to the adventure! :rotfl:

thanks, as long as the Christmas/NYs week is do-able, not worried about seeing everything every trip kwim?;) wish i knew where airfare started out though...currently over $500 pp:eek: that would be a deal breaker

we usually travel the last week in June to WDW, seems as though it's been getting crowded, either that or end of July r hopefully in the cards

I am looking to go that time of year next year also. I am trying to think of it this way - We are DVC members - who cares if the parks are full we can go to the pool and can see the Parks any time. Anyone else have these feelings?
