2009 maintenance fee ??

Anyone have the new list for the 2009 mf? My friends said his SSR mf went up big. His uy is december and he just paid his 2008 fee and said it went up alot.

yeah, SSR suffered a "scorching" increase last year of 3.1%. pretty much in line with inflation, IMO. you should expect that fees will increase most every year...if a 3% increase strikes someone as "big", they probably are overextending to purchase a timeshare.

there's also a paragraph here with the annual dues info (roughly the 3rd paragraph).

yeah.. my bad... he purchased his dec uy back in 2007 so he was comparing his 2008 to his 2009 which he got the "less estimate" back for 2006. so, yes, it's about 3% increase.

I think some of the increase was due to the fact that the resort is no longer subsidized as it is considered sold out (except for the new Treehouse villas) I think AKV is no longer subsidized either even though it's not sold out yet, BLT is still subsidized, so it will go up at some point too...

Personally the increase wasn't more than I expected (didn't even know about the subsidy then). Mine increased less than $6

DVD provides a subsidy so early buyers of a partially sold-out resort won't have to shoulder abnormally high maintenance fees. As the resort sells out, DVC eliminates the subsidy. The purpose of the subsidy is not to lower maintenance fees below what they would typically be.

We own 200 pts at SSR, I think our MF went up around $36 from last year.
