Howdy doo! Does anyone have an idea when 2009 Food & Wine Festival ticket sales will begin? Or at least an idea of when the schedule of events will be posted? We're going for a weekend, and I'd hate to miss my window of opportunity to get tickets for the "special events" that will occur while we are there. I will :worship: whoever can provide the correct info! Ev :)

Can only tell you what happened last year. The Food & Wine festival began on September 26. The events were released August 22 and booking opened on August 25. Based on this, I would not be looking for any schedule to be released until sometime in August.

Last year the F&W event ticket sales occured in late August. I believe they released the event details less than a week in advance? Unfortunately Disney doesn't seem to like to give a lot of notice.

Last year I booked my Party for the Senses tickets the first day and it only had 900 guests (the event has a max of 1500 i believe). That night they were still selling tickets at guest relations. However, there were other weeks where the party sold out the first day and was at capacity. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to the popularity of events.

I would highly recommend the Party for the Senses but I will caution you that there is a good amount of "controversy" regarding tables and seating. Some feel the event is "cocktail" style where everyone should roam and not have a "base" or a "table". But a lot of people, myself included, seem to be of the mind that saving a table is perfectly fine. There is no Disney policy to determine which is right or wrong. If you do decide to attendthe party and want a table here are some tips.

- Arrive at World Showplace at 5 to 5:30 to check-in and line up out front of the gates
- At 6 they will open the gates and allow you into the "holding area" of World Showplace. As you pass the gates you will be given your wine glass, plate and program.
- At 6:30 the curtain rises on World Showplace and you can enter from the "holding area". Here is where the WARNINg comes in. This time is often known as the "running of the bulls" as people all out sprint to get tables. My party and I were at the gate at 5:15pm and were literally right at the front of the "pack". We went into the holding area and ended up about 3 people deep from the curtain. We started out walking at 6:30 but then resorted to an all out mad dash. We *barely* got a table at the VERY back. It was 6:32pm when we sat down at (or should I say threw ourselves on) our table.
Every single table was GONE by 6:32pm and our night was only a 2/3rd capacity evening

If you want a tamer event I also highly recommend the Sweet Sundays :thumbsup2

However, with the new "A la Carte" reservation system we could see some changes this year. The new system is being slowly (and painfully :headache:) introduced. Esentially, it ties any ADRs, special event tickets, recreation etc into 1 system and all reservations are linked to your resort reservation (if you have one).

There is also talk of this "A la Carte" system being available for guests to use online to book their own dining, special event and recreation reservations. Maybe they will have the online system up and running in time for the release and booking of F&W event booking? This is all speculation on my part btw! :confused3

Thanks for the responses, Nala and Tink! We've been to Party for the Senses before, but we didn't book our trip until October, so I didn't know when ticket sales began. Many things were sold out when we called to make arrangements.

Wow, Tink, I'm so sorry you had that experience with Party for the Senses last year. We went two years ago and it wasn't like that at all! It was a sold out night and we were literally the last to enter. My parents were late meeting us and they wouldn't let anyone from the party check in and enter until we all arrived. (TIP FOR THE FUTURE: PURCHASE TICKETS IN BLOCKS OF TWO RATHER THAN AS A FULL GROUP FOR THIS, AS THERE IS NO RESERVED SEATING... THEN IF SOMEONE IS LATE, YOU DON'T ALL PAY THE PRICE!) We had to stand there waiting right outside the door while hundreds of people filed past us. We were still able to get a table, but it was in an attached room and we couldn't see the Cirque de Soleil performance at all from where we were. As were mainly there for the food and wine pairings, it didn't really matter much to us, so no worries. I wonder why there were so many fewer tables last year...?!
