2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

I haven't been on in a long time, I had some catching up to do. I also didn't realize that I was under 5 months :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
I don't know what is wrong with me. I think that since I can't make ADR's until Nov I am all confused.
I have worked out a starting plan (subject to change waiting on TGM to post his stuff also)
5th - we arrive at the airport at 4:20pm (shoot need to book magic express) and just hang around all star movies
6th- downtown disney and disneyquest
7th - Epcot and Akershus for lunch (for my 11 (12 during the trip) year old son's birthday) this is his day we are celebrating his birthday and he choose epcot and akershus - he only wants to ride test track and then do the countries.:confused3 :confused3
8th - Blizzard beach and winterwonderland minature golf
9th - Hollywood studios sci fi for snack and then mama melrose and the fantamsic package
10th- Magic Kingdom
11th- Animal Kingdom and Tuskerhouse breakfast - EMH evening
12th - blizzard beach (MAYBE) and hopefully a pirate and princess party and chef mickey's - we are using this day to celebrate my youngest son's birthday and he choose what we are going to do.
13th - epcot and garden grill for dinner EMH evening
14th- animal kingdom - yak and yeti for lunch
15th- magic kingdom crystal palace for breakfast EMH evening
16th - we leave -Ohana's for breakfast
I have never done the fantamsic package so I don't know what times they allow you to have dinner at does anyone know? I don't see any other way that we are going to catch fantasmic now that it is down to only two shows a week.
On the days that there is extra magic hours evenings - I plan on leaving mid day go back to the hotel relax and then return to the same park so right now I see no need for park hoppers. We are also not doing the dining plan - it really wouldn't save us money. My younger son will not eat of the child's menu (he has a very grown up taste and doesn't eat "normal" child's food) so we usually buy a few appitizers (spelling) to share between us and lots of fruit.
I am so thinking about doing a pre trip report, but at this time I don't have the time.

I became depressed when I thought that our trip was soon to be here and then gone, after measuring my youngest son I realized that he isn't going to be tall enough to ride primevil whirl, some of the attractions at disneyquest, and rock n roller coaster. I am planning a trip for 2012!!!!!

When we did the Fantasmic package, we had to eat at like 3:30 in the afternoon. Very early - and I don't know if it was entirely worth it.

Grace! It's you!!! Small world this DIS place is. I would use Pittsburg as your home airport. I find that MOST of the time airfare can be cheaper out of larger airports. Now, I have found that airfare out of Chicago is more than Detroit. How far are you from Detroit? I find really good airfare from there. We have found good fares out of Columbus too. We are lucky enough in NW OH to have several airports to choose from. Sometimes it's worth the drive to save several hundred dollars on airfare. Good luck. Go to Airfarewatchdog.com, it's FREE!
Hi Lisa :wave2:
Yes you are right "It's a small world" ( sorry could not resesit)
We are closer to Akron/Canton, We we be about 3 hrs from Detroit
1 3/4 hrs from Pittsburg and 1hr from Cleveland and 40 min, from Arkon/Canton
I had seen you had posted on this thread soi thought I see what was going on and I very glad I did:thumbsup2 I will go to the site and see what I can find.
Thanks .

WOW! You are getting close!! Your plans are looking good so far.

I'm still stewing over my plans for each day. I guess I should wait for the hours to come out before I really start planning that. Does the show times for Fantasmic come out then or do we have to wait to see when we get there?

Fantasmic times are released when the calendar comes out. I'm very curious about this for May, b/c we are planning to do the Mama Melrose package. I have it "scheduled" for Monday, but if there's no Fantasmic...I'll have to switch stuff up. I hope the calendar is out right on 11/1, because 11/3 is the day I can call for CM and CRT. I'd like to have all my days planned out for sure before that!!

Hello All,

Here's a reminder for us all next October 2008, that the Disney Visa discount codes came out today ( Oct 29, 2007 ) for the Jan/Feb/March 2008 trips.

So... hopefully it will be about the same time ( Oct 29, 2008 ) for the Jan/Feb/Mar 2009 trips :))

My DH thinks I am nuts for thinking about the 2009 codes, when I've just rec'd my 2008 codes!! Some people (me) are just good planners!
HEY LOOK ~ I just found my message from last year reminding that codes will
be out soon !! Can't wait..........

How about the Disney Dining Experience...

Has anyone calculated what the savings might be for your family if you chose to get an Annual Pass and DDE as opposed to a package with regular dining? :teacher:

Hi Tikkipoo,

We did the math for our family. We looked a the restaurants we wanted to eat at, added up the prices (eating whatever we wanted). Subtracted DDE + tax and tip. I even added in 20.00/day for snacks. I then compared that to DDP + tip.

DDE came out about 300.00 cheaper! With the flexibility of skipping ADR's and not feeling like I'm wasting money.

Keep in mind though that by disney standards we have four "adults" and one "child". I think if DD10 counted as a child (especially since she eats like one) DDP would be more beneficial for my group.

Edited to add: I realize I didn't add in the cost of the AP but that's only because I'm most likely getting one anyway, also even if it was a wash (the savings) I would have an excuse to get back to Disney before my AP expired!

Thanks Nurse_Mommy! I guess I will do the work then to see how it would work for us.

for this announcement...

Look at my countdown clock!!!:scared1: 365 baby! We are on the hard countdown now! Signed up for TGM today:thumbsup2 I am in a mood!!!:cloud9:

...Thank you. Now back to you program.

I like to go to Biergarten... not really because of the food, but because of the atmosphere. We always have nice families that we eat with and I love the band. The servers have always been great too.

Unfortunately, my kids are not adventerous eaters, so we tend to stick to "regular food". The kids really enjoyed Crystal Palace when we were there last time, not necessarily for the food, but the atmosphere was really great. This is the only place they both have requested to go to again. I can say the Sci-Fi was the worst and we wont be going back. I was thinking of doing the Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic dinner..any thoughts?

:offtopic: DH and DS are away for the weekend and DD is still sleeping  , she may surface around noon if I'm lucky. But the house is just sooo quiet, even the dogs are sleeping. You could literally hear a pin drop..Ok, I'm better now.

Good to know about Crystal Palace - I was thinking about going there.
When we did the Fantasmic package, we ate at Mama Melrose and it was pretty good. But that was in 2005! ....oh it's been soooo long!

My kids loved Crystal Palace too - it's funny because it's a character meal, but the restaurant is SO gorgeous too! Food was really good, lots to choose from. We did dinner.

We also enjoyed Chef Mickey's - we did breakfast (brunch) last time and will be doing dinner this next trip. Very fun atmosphere and a great way to see all the "big" characters!

MY favorite restaurants were Le Cellier and Kona and we'll be returning to both (dinner).

We also enjoyed Wolfgang Puck and would definitely return there - we're not this trip just to try some new things, but we really liked it.

The only place we weren't overly thrilled with was Whispering Canyon. The food was OK, not great, not bad. Our service was awful.

We'll be trying 3 new places this trip - Mama Melrose (Fantasmic pkg), CRT lunch for DD and I and T-Rex Cafe.

Hello everone! I haven't been following this thread in a while. I should be more excited about the trip but this whole economy thing really has me down.

This is where I am at right now in the planning - airfare!
NWA has our dates up for the trip but I really don't want to book with them but they have some pretty good rates and the times fit well for our schedule.

American is who I would prefer to book with but our dates won't be up for another couple of weeks and the way they are looking for rates I won't be booking them anytime soon.

Airtran used to have a good flight time for us but they dropped that flight just recently so it looks like they are out of the picture.
