2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Well, I'll probably be leaving this thread (and maybe DisBoards for a while) since I found out I'm pregnant.

So it might be 5 or 6 years before I get back to Disney - but having a baby is better (slightly :lmao: ) than Disney.

Congratulations!!!!! And you might not have to wait that long - our DD was only 2 (almost 3) when we went and it was awesome for her!! Really, TRULY Magic at that age!! They believe in it all!

Oh, and I LOVE a Pooh theme for a nursery, especially if you'll be surprised on the gender, it's very neutral!

I am still lurking around the 2009 thread. I have read through page 24 and still going. You all are a great group and I wish I had more time to get more involved. Not only is dh a computer hog (haha) but I very rarely have time to spend on the computer anymore, with work, ds 8's wrestling schedule, and life in general. I took a sick day today to get caught up on house work and have spent most of the day on the dis!!!
You all are making wonderful plans. I still don't have my date set (maybe october, but don't want a lot of rain), don't know where I want to stay or eat, etc. I do know that I can book my room only around May 20th.
Just wanted to catch up with you all and let you know I am still reading and enjoying this threat.
Keep up the good work group:grouphug: and happy planning.

:cloud9: That's absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!

That's the spirit! That's what sick days are for--- planning our vacations ;) !!!

pixidust princess - when we went last year during the first week of October it rained nearly every day (but didn't rain all day except for one day), it was very hot, but the lines were super short.

Congratulations  . We took DD to Disney for the first time when she was 3 and it worked out really well. Disney is extra magical when you have kids with you :) .

I know this is just a planning thread for 2009 trips, but i have a questing and it sorta relates to planning our trip. Have any of you had experiences with renting DVC points from someone here on the DIS?? If so, could you share your experience?? We REALLY want to do AKL Savannah view for me, DH, and my mom and dad (2 rooms) but just can't swing it.... Renting points might make that possible though!!! I'm just a little nervous about the whole deal....

I am a DVC member and have rented a bunch of times. Email me if you like and I will fill you in on what I have found. jlmcnab@cogeco.ca

Good luck with your planning.

I've been thinking about what to do on arrival day..should be getting to MCO around lunch and I think we are gonna eat lunch there since kids will be too hungry by the time we get to WL...trying to decide what to do once we get to WL...I am a super planner and need to know way ahead of time what I will be doing....I want this trip to be as perfect as possible because DH has said we won't go back for a few years because he wants to take kids other places...my parents will be going with us (they are in there early 50's) my boys will be 10 and almost 5...we will be staying 12/28/09 to 01/04/10....my parents have never been and I want them to have a wonderful time...anyway any suggestions for arrival day would be good

On our arrival day we hung out at the pool for a while then went to Chef Mickey's for dinner. It was relaxing, and we made sure we got to bed pretty early to recover from the early morning flight.

I just have to share this news. My DH thinks we can start going to WDW every other year!!!!!   So after our 2009 trip we will start every other year instead of every 3-4 years. I knew there was a good reason I married him! :lovestruc

I had thought about doing that and maybe going to MK to see Spectro Magic parade or seeing Hoop De Doo Revue, or maybe just eating at WCC and going to the campfire at FW. I wouldn't mind going to DTD, but I just don't feel like that is "disney" enough for our first night. Last time we went, DH had worked the night before (state trooper) and came home, took a shower, and we headed for airport. He slept a while at WL while DS and I looked around and ate. Then we all went to Epcot and ate at Japanese Rest. and just looked around. This time, DH will not work the night before, so he won't be as tired and since we are taking DS4 for the first time, I want to do something really special.

We usually go to DTD the first night we are there. As far as not being "Disney" enough, I don't know, for us the magic hits us as soon as we get to our resort. The do have the World of Disney store, that certainly is worth a visit. If you weren't into DTD, I'd probably look into going to a dinner show and keeping it low key and going full strenght the next day.

A slight change of plans for us - thankfully a good change!! Instead of doing 5 nights at CSR, we have decide on a split stay. 3 nights at POP, and 4 nights at CSR for a total of 7 nights!! :woohoo: I'm VERY excited!! So it's April 25th-28th at POP and April 28th-May 2nd at CSR :thumbsup2

Thanks for the October information! I am sooo unsure when I want to go now. My original May 2009 is too soon for my budget. I also thought about September 2009, but only if free dining is still available (who knows about that )!!!! Our last trip was in July and it was sooo hot and crowded. I would like to have less crowds and not quite as hot, but still warm enough to do the pool and water parks. Can you tell I have a terrible time making decisions. :headache: Thank goodness I have plenty of time to work on my plan. I forgot to add that dh's parents, my mom, and dsil and nephew could possibly be going on this trip. :goodvibes
You all are doing a great job planning your trips. It is so much fun working on plans, changing them and adding new things.
We did chef mickeys on our first night and it was exciting to be that close to the mk and not actually go in. It was a great start to our vacation.
Happy planning everyone!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions on arrival day plans.... I have another question now...If I get a code in the mail after I have booked my trip either through WDW or my TA can that code still be applied? Just trying to think about all this to make the time go by faster!

Yes, the code can be applied after you book.

Thanks a lot! Only been to WDW once (12/28/05-01/03/06) and kinda new at this. Paid FULL price last time for holiday rates at WL with dining, tickets, and airfare. Do NOT want to do that again....but I will if I have to.

Hello 2009'ers.

I'm afraid we have decided not to go in January 2009. The reality of our 2008 vacation costing far more than in the past (we had always stayed with family in the past/now we are renting a house on the beach + renting a car + higher flight prices + a possible side trip), the highly likely need to purchase a new vehicle this year and now, not only does one DS need braces this year -- but now 2 do -- all points in the direction of no 2009 WDW trip. :sad1:

Making the decision to cancel my tentative thoughts and plans now will in the long run be easier than holding out the hope, just to have to cancel months down the road. I will hope toward the early part of 2010 -- which seems lightyears away!

So, goodbye. It's been fun, but I need to accept reality. I'll still be on here every now and then as I am still working on scrapbooks for our 2004 and 2007 trips and visit the Scrapping board here on the Dis for ideas and resources.

Arkansas Mom .... please remove us from your list. Thanks.

Have fun planning! :goodvibes
