Has anyone heard who is reading the Christmas Story at the Candlelight Processional this year? My DS goes every year and is waiting to hear. I told him if anyone know, a DISer will.

They won't announce it until much closer to the event -- sometimes as little as 3 weeks away.

I didn't know there was a Candlelight Processional at DLR. Could you tell me...

Where it is held?
Do you have to buy special tickets?
What are the costs of the tickets?
And is is similar to how they do the WDW CP as in booking dinner in order to get preferred seating?

Haven't been to DLR in over 10 years so this is why I'm asking and plus I typed it in on DL website and nothing came up.

When is the Candlelight Processional this year?

No dates have been officially announced yet, but based on past years, most are guessing it will be held Dec 5 and 6.

It's held in Town Square in Disneyland. They set up a stage right below the train station steps. They have 4 shows total, 2 Saturday and 2 Sunday. You do not need special tickets to view the show from a standing area nearby, but if you want seating, you need to book tickets for a special dinner package at one of the DLR hotel restaurants (not sure if it's similar to WDW since I have no experience with their CP). DLR is not the most timely when it comes to releasing dates for the CP and even offering the dinner tickets. Past years have been an absolute mess with on-line ticket ordering. (you can search "Candlelight Processional" on any of the many Disneyland boards and you'll see what people have experienced the last couple years). Hopefully they'll have a better system this year.

HTH.

Are the parks usually packed the weekend of the CP as compared to the weekend after? We are considering a December trip and are not sure whether to go the first or second week of December.

Thanks for the info!

I'd like to know this also! Any one have an opinion or better yet, been there during a processional?

Thanks :)

Kathy

I've been there during the processional weekend. Generally, the parks are moderately crowded in the morning, but mid-day to evening, the locals start crowding in for the CP. I would avoid being on Main Street at all costs during and after the processional unless you have paid for a package seat or are staking out a spot to stand during the show. It's very crowded.

A good option is to head to DCA during that time.

Since I don't generally come to DLR to see the CP, I personally try to avoid that weekend in planning Dec trips.

For those of us who aren't familiar...ah....what IS the Candlelight Processional? :rotfl:

I'll be there on the 6th & 7th (my birthday) and would love to see the Candlelight Processional. And I'm willing to pay for a package seat. We'll be staying at GCH. Can I ask them to make reservations for me? What perfect timing :woohoo:

Hi! It is a performance telling the Biblical story of Christmas, with a well known celebrity narrating, a huge choir and instuments singing and playing traditional carols. I've only been to the one at WDW, but am looking forward to DL's this year.

Now I have a question for anyone out there about the dinner package tickets. I just called Disney earlier today to ask about tickets for my 3 and 5 year old grandsons. The lady informed me that she thought I would still have to pay full price for each of them. That is going to be 85 plus dollars each, for a little body that probably won't even want to eat. I am very discouraged with this news. I was hoping for some kind of kids price. I even asked if they could sit on our laps and she said no.

Have any of you had experience with children and paying the full price?

Have any of you ever recieved an AP rate?

Thankyou so much in advance!

I tried to get tickets for the CP dining package in 2007 for my niece who had just turned 7 and we would have had to pay full price for her and no AP rates either. It ended up being moot as we were not able to get a reservation. She stood thru about 5 mintues of it and then I took her to see the Tiki Room where she enjoyed the show twice and the garden during the time the rest of our group saw the CP. I was able to see the CP the next night with my DH after my neice and parent had left for the airport. -- Suzanne
