In light of the changes to the dining plan for 2008 we were just wondering if you had to choose between an appetizer or dessert on the dining plan, which would you prefer. Of course there is no choice but maybe Dinsey will read this and see what the majority would want! Vote please.

When we go out to eat as a family, we tend to always get appetizers and never get dessert.

You don't need to choose as both are included. Just booked mine today and they are both there.

Thats only because you did the deluxe plan. Standard ddp only allows for dessert.

But given the choice i think they should let you choose, either or, cuz i would choose depending on the restaurant. Altho at home we almost never do dessert but thats cuz we are too cheap..lol

Appetizers cost more on a lot of the menus which is probably why they excluded them.

There is no way they will change this for '08.:rolleyes1 But I would rather skip appetizer and get dessert anyway. We dont eat appetizers at home, and we struggled with 3 courses and left feeling overstuffed this year on free dining.

I wish they would let us choose either or - that way one of us would likely get an appetizer and the other a dessert and then we could share.

What is the purpose of your poll? :confused3

Disney has made a change in the dining plan offered for 2008. It's their plan and they are free to make the rules. The only purpose of the DDP is to entice people to pre-pay for meals and therefore obligate them to stay on site where they will then spend even more of their tourist dollars. If you don't like what they have offered, don't buy it. A poll is just beating a dead horse.

apps are more expensive, more time, more work, disney will never change this one lol, but yeah i would rather have app!

I actually think this is an interesting poll as I thought I would be in the minority wanting an appetizer instead of dessert. I was disappointed to hear of the change but will still be using it because our next big trip includes alot of character dining and it is much better for us to do the Dining Plan. OP, I am glad for the poll :thumbsup2

This is how I would like to do it also. We have the dlxddp for next year and with 3 adults we will most likely only get 2 appetizers and 2 desserts and share. Having both all to yourself is way to much food. I also plan on doing at least 3 meals that include the tip like CRT and shows.

What is the point in this entire site??? To share ideas, thoughts and opinions. It is nice to see what others are thinking (if they think like you or not).

This poll creates a False Dilemma fallacy. The choice isn't between appetizer and dessert, but rather between including dessert at $37.99 per day and including appetizer at (just guessing here) $41.99 per day. Since the appetizer is worth more, switching the inclusion to the appetizer will cost more. That should change some guests' minds about which they prefer.

And the other false dilemma is that the poll offers a choice where no such choice exists. DDP 2008 is what it is, and it does not include either an appetizer or the gratuity.

There's no harm in discussing things, of course, but as someone's already suggested, the real-world choice is buy it or don't.

I voted for appetizer, but would definately like to be able to choose one or the other.

I wish we had the option. Sometimes I feel like an appetizer, other times I would prefer dessert. I personally do not pick my meal based on price. I base it on what sounds good.

I'm sure you're right... and I'm sure that's exactly why Disney isn't going to let us do that! ;)

Also, if they let people get an appetizer, they'd often end up being too full to order a dessert, whereas if they make you get the dessert, people whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs will order the appetizer and then be stuck with a dessert that they won't eat!

Disney is very good at making money.

I am happy with the plan the way it is in 2008. If I could have chosen between appetizer and dessert, Disney picked exactly what I would have.

I agree with the point of not picking appetizer or dessert. Many couples would split an appetizer, eat their main course and then split desserts.
