2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

Jeff your being so motivated with all these photos and lists of transport and speakers....do you have the list of merchandise and vendors? :lmao:

Noryen keep that positiveness about the finish. Your not alone  perhaps we should take all of us with recent foot injuries and change our entries into 3 legged racers :dance3: Unfortunately I'm not very coordinated and if you end up with me we'd be going in circles.

On the way out to do some miles. Everyone have a great Saturday be it rest or a few miles!!!!

Jeff I'll be checking in later for that list of merchandise and vendors :surfweb: ;) :rotfl:

Hey everyone!! It's been crazy for me too. Just started back to work full time, my girls have had colds and I am trying like crazy to not get it. I am taking lots of airborne and vit c. Decided to skip my last LR today because I don't want to get run down and end up full blown sick. I have only thrown a few tank tops in my suitcase - I really need to get on that! Next weekend is going to be here in a flash!!

Becky

Hi, gang. I am just quickly checking in from the cyber-black hole I fell into a couple of months ago. I can't believe its next weekend!!

Unfortunately, I will be joining the ranks of the walking wounded for the race. Several weeks ago, I managed to slice open the ball of my foot on a nail while out walking. There was actually a trail of blood following me home. blech. Then, just when i would think it was healed enough, I'd go out for a run and split it back open again. But I'll be hobbling to the starting gate in Anaheim -- I keep reminding myself that DNF is better than DNS, and if I could manage to reach the finish line last year in that heat, no gaping wound is gonna stop me! :rotfl:

BTW, Diane, I saw the pink Ninja princess guy in both 200 and 2007, so I am going to be on the lookout for him again this year.

I have to go back and reread the thread, but can anyone tell me quickly what the plans are for getting together? I know I owe Robert a drink or 20 for all the times he's given me the last minute heads up to get signed up before a race closes! I will be flying in with my two sons (um, yes, my DH has baled out on this for the 3rd year in a row.:thumbsup2 ) on Thursday, and will be hanging in the general Disneyland area Friday and Saturday, and i am packing all my WISH shirts, so I'll be the one in green.

Oh, also, any word on what the special medal is going to be? I got my email that I am eligible, so it better be good!

Happy packing, travelling, training, etc. to all. Hope to be able to meet some of you face-to-face soon!

Stay healthy and be well,

Erica

Don't make these offers with me around in DL:rolleyes1

Hope to meet you next week. Hard to believe we will be there very late next Weds:eek: Can't wait to being playing at the House of Mouse:)

Hello,

Thanks for the info on transportation. The link above is a bit different from the brochure page. The reason I mention this is because I am staying at the Anaheim Marriot Suites which is right next to the Crowne Plaza. In the brochure it shows the Crowne Plaza as a stop for ART, but the link doesn't show the Crowne Plaza as a stop.

Does anyone know if there will be a stop close by either the Crowne Plaza, Anaheim Marriot Suites, or Homewood Suites? Thanks!

WE INTERRUPT THIS THREAD FOR THIS IMPORTANT NEWS...

HAWAII IS THE AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!

GO WAIPIO, BEAT MEXICO TOMORROW!!! :thumbsup2

They used to be a pair of pages in the official program that would show some of the merchandise. Well they forgot to put in this year. No vendors list published.

Hey Jeff,
Did you see that Clay got the gold for the Decathlon for the USA. Said he was raised in HI!!!!!!!

Good news for us at DL in that Linda just went to Urgent Care and they xrayed her foot that the trailer hitch fell on at our race last week. It's not broken so her race is on:banana:

Will see everyone on Thurs(we will arrive around midnight after about an 8 hr drive Weds night).

Hey Jeff,

Yep Tracy, that was old new from yesterday for me. LOL :lmao:. When I woke up, the news said he already won the decathlon. NBC showed so little of the Decathlon in prime time, it was pretty disappointing.

My chiropractor knows Brian, from his days when he had no sponsors, and no silver or gold medals. He, like Barack Obama, were both raised in Hawaii by single mothers. How's that!? Way to go for both their moms. Way to go Brian!!!

We have 5 girls on the silver medal women's volleyball team with local ties. Heather Bown, Kim Willoughby, Robyn Ah-Mow Santos (all three played for University of Hawaii), Lindsey Berg, and Logan Tom.

We have one guy, Clay Stanley on the men's volleyball team (University of Hawaii).

We have one gal, Natasha Kai on the women's gold medal soccer team. She came from the tiny North Shore town of Kahuku (University of Hawaii).

There were several others with local ties, swimmers, water polo players, and other sports.

Hawaii athletes have done us proud!:thumbsup2

Good news Linda & Robert! Glad you're a go for next week. See you there in all your orange. :thumbsup2

Jeff: That list is pretty cool.

Here are some athletes with Florida connections.

Track and Field: Rafeeq Curry (Miami and FSU), Walter Dix (Coral Springs and FSU), Bershawyn Jackson (Miami), Sanya Richards (Pembroke Pines), Tiffany Ross-Williams (Opa-Locka) and Lauryn Williams (Univeristy of Miami).
Basketball: Sylvia Fowles (Liberty City) and Dwayne Wade (Miami Heat).
Beach Vollyball: Misty May-Treanor (Husband Catcher for the Florida Marlins)
Sailing: Nancy Rios (Coconut Grove), Anna Tunnicliffe (Ft. Lauderdale)
Diving: Jevon Tarantino (Boca Raton)
Swimming: Dara Torres (Parkland)
Judo: Adler Volmar (Coral Springs)

Glad to hear Linda's foot is ok and not broken!!
I have 5 more sleeps!!!!!

Diane, your 3 legged race idea is great! Where do I sign up? :rotfl2:

Erica, that foot injury sounds painful! Hang in there! But you're right, if you could finish in last years heat, then nothing is going to stop you this year.

Robert, I'm glad to hear Linda will be able to make it.

Jeff, thanks for all the updates! I'm getting really excited after hearing all the latest news.

Reminder everyone,

Don't forget to pack your socks, shoes, hat, running clothes, your waiver form, and most importantly, YOUR CHUB RUB (aka Body Glide). :lmao:

hmmm, let's see.....check, check(wearing my shoes on the plane), check, check, check and definately CHECK on the rub.

Also don't forget you GARMIN!!!, lip balm, sunscreen, ID (put with waiver or have out at the airport), money for suvies, anything WISH or lime green!!

Anything else??:confused3

Robert, poor Linda!! I hope she is ok, glad to hear she will still be racing!

I am packing all of my race stuff in my carryon (bags got lost last year!). Is body glide considered a gel? Do I need to put that in my 1 quart bag?

Becky

Becky, I believe your GLide stick is a gel and needs to be in your zip lock bag. Mine's in their already.

Ah, the benefits of being local, no zippy bags. Lol. I've been keeping all my running stuff in a small bag so hopefully I won't forget anything and have to drive back home to get it. My waiver is on the fridge. Outfit is washed. I am armed with a NEW stick of bodyglide. Bought my GUs last week. Aside from my terrible run today, I'm ready!

Just wanted to chime in to wish everyone safe travels and GOOD LUCK on the race. Unfortunately, timing didn't work out for me this year, but I have begun my training (just finished my first 10k race this morning) and I'm hoping to join the DL half marathon in 2009!

Looks like the weather will cooperate this year for you. Sending cool thoughts your way.

Have a great run/walk and ENJOY!
