2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

I booked the package online through their website. For the room and the 4 day tickets it was $721.10. Without the tickets it was $461.10 (For 2 of us.) So my difference was $260 or $130 a piece. It actually shows up in the package for that much.

Now when running the numbers which is what I do for a living the room through motel 6 was $391 and the tickets were $368 or a total of $759. So I saved a whole $38 by booking with the package.

I assumed the package would have something more than tickets and the room, but I really don't know.

Good Luck Robert. You can do it! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry one other thing I was told you could get the tickets through them on the phone without getting a room (If you already have one booked) although I don't know if that's true.

I was also told you could use ART for free while there, but I said is that just in the morning of the race or your whole trip. She said I'm not sure, but probably the whole trip. We'll see. :rotfl2:

I'm hoping someone knows exactly what you get in the package. Maybe I'll just e-mail them.

Check your local Safeway. I was there yesterday, and they had a 5 day park hopper for the price of 3 days. Not sure what the price was.

Another tip, if anyone has or knows someone with Military privileges, have them check the MWR for discounted tickets. I've never ever been asked for Military ID when going through the turnstiles.

I'm so excited about going to Disneyland for the first time. Oh and the weekend after I get back from Walt Disney World. Which was just planned instead of our Myrtle Beach trip.

Congratulations, Chris! I went to Disneyland for the first time for the inaugural half and really enjoyed the convenience of a 15-minute walk to the park from my hotel room and a 5-minute walk from one park to the other. So different from the wait for busses that I'm so used to at WDW. (And I love WDW -- Don't get me wrong! I just couldn't get over how easy it was to get from one place to another there.)

It'll be great to meet my Buzzie teammate in person!

Good Score on admission, I think we will pass for this trip as it will be a short one for us. Plenty to do at the resorts and DTD.

Arv,Thurs Fri- expo, Sat 5K, Sun 1/2 and Fly to MCO. Mon board DCL for 5 days, KEWL!!!

I paid $138 for a three day hopper by going through the company that is doing the packages for the half. After I signed up, I received an email from them with this offer.
That was about $30 cheaper than AAA which is where I usually buy my DL tix.

Mooshu was just at Disneyland Sunday and Monday (5/18-5/19/08).

She said the weather was hovering about 100 degrees. So for those who ran the half marathon last year, prepare yourself for the same stifiling heat.

I just noticed that on the DL registration page it says "no headphones." Seriously, no ipod? I'm going to be lost without my music. :scared1:

Don't believe it. I wore my Ipod both years at Disneyland, plus the Goofy this year. They're can't stop you, putting it in their information is just a deterrent. Thousands of people wear their Ipods, Sandisks, etc.

I agree. They have to put that in there (probably for insurance reasons). I will say this...I ran the WDW Marathon in January and the percentage of people wearing headphones was pretty low. I'm not sure what the reason was but not many people had them on. I ran most of WDW with my iPod on anyway but I did feel a bit out of place. They had lot of music and entertainment on the course so that may have been why so few people had them on. I'm curious to see if DL will be the same.

Lou

Disney is just covering there butts legally. If something happens and you ignore their rules, you won't be able to sue them. USATF doesn't allow them either.

Hi, I just booked my flight with JetBlue!!! I figured I better go ahead before prices really start to go up. I will be arriving Thursday evening and leaving Sunday evening.
I guess I really have to go now.
Nonrefundable 1/2 marathon and nonrefundable plane tickets = doing the DL Half Marathon.

I booked mine through Jet Blue too (but my flight will be much shorter than yours) ;)

We are also leaving late that night and will hang at DTD. Till early afternoon, then head to the airport. Red eye to MCO. The DCL for 5 days, great post race recovery plan.

I LOVE your idea of a recovery plan! My sis-in-law and family are taking the Magic back to FL from CA so that it will be ready to go for your 5 day recovery! Wish we could join you!!!

Wish I could figure out how to quote and respond to more than one post while posting...

Oh well, training here is going okay. DS is regularly doing 6 miles (of course he runs track and this stuff is just part of his normal conditioning). Dh hurt his knee trying to keep up with DS so he is taking a couple of weeks off from running. As for me... it walked 14 miles as part of an American Cancer Society fundraiser a week ago. Did it in crummy shoes, so took a couple of days off from training. I'd probably have done some running/jogging during the ACS fundraiser if my walk shift had not been from 1am-5am after being awake all day/night prior in 102 degree heat. :faint:

I have yet to track my mileage while training, but I am up to being able to jog for 45 minutes without stopping, so I feel like I am accomplishing something.

45 minutes is definitely something to be proud of. You're on your way with plenty of time to get ready.

Thanks all for explaining it to me. I think I will still bring my ipod. I may not want to use it the whole time, I didn't keep it on the whole time at my 1/2 in April. I just liked the option.

Someone on my forum saw a picture of the medal for the Disney Double today and here is what she said:

"I went to the expo for the San Diego Rock n Roll marathon and they had a color print of the medal and it is gorgeous!! It does have the shadow outline of Walt and Mickey holding hands in the middle with the bottom half of the US in an arc below it with Florida and Anaheim marked with stars. It will not disappoint!!"

I can't wait to get mine:banana:

Sounds neat. Is this a special medal for people doing both DL and WDW races?

Also, is the DL 1/2 medal going to be a castle? Sorry if this has been covered before. I'm new to Disney races. :cool1:

That is the medal for doing WDW & DL races.

I believe it still is the "castle" medal. Haven't heard of any changes to it.
