2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

I only received one and we are doing both races(reg'd at same time).

At WDW in Jan, we had to fill out seperate waiver at the 5K pickup and bring the one mailed for the half & full.

Thanks for letting me know! :thumbsup2

Hey Pat, I know this is OT, but what race are you doing in SC in 09? I am always looking for races with good medals!

Becky

I got my email too! I will have to see if my husband got his email also. I registered for the 1/2 a long time ago and then registered for the 5K just recently. I only got one email. Does anyone know, do you get an email for the 5K too?

My race # is: 3392
Husband is #: 3606

I just saw on DL's site "5k waivers are only available at the expo.". Just as I expected:)

Bad news for you baseball fans as the race map and description in the program state you run "around" Angel Stadium and not through as in past years:(

That was one reason I was thinking of pushing it as I went to the stadium many times as a kid and would love to go through the stadium.

Robert,

I wonder if we have to run clockwise around Angels Stadium, to make up the difference in yardage, since we don't go down around the track.

Disappointing news, I always thought that was a treat running the warning track. Good thing I have photos from the first two years. I wish I had stopped to take a picture sitting in the dugout.

29 days to the 5K, and 30 days to the half marathon as of 8/1/08.

Hello everyone! I didn't know this WISH section of the disboard existed. :) Glad I found it. :)

My sil and I will be there (without children) :cloud9: for the Half and are looking forward to it. It is her first and my second Half. Have never ran a Disney race---can't wait! :cheer2:

Bummed about not running through the stadium.

I have a question about hotels. We are booked at the Anaheim Marriott but I'm not sure that's a good plan...is the Candy Cane Inn a better choice? I noticed that a few of you are staying there. I called DL travel and they said that CCI does not give a special rate for racers.

We'll be flying in to John Wayne Airport on the 30th and leaving on the 1st. We'll try to make it to one of the meets.

No PR for us...just making this a fun run. Plan to finish around 2:15 -2:30...but want to make sure I get good pics. :) My sil runs/walks a bit slower and she'd love to find a WISHer that would help push her towards the finish. :)

I'm bib #: 12360

Running 11 miles tomorrow. Then I'll taper down the next few Saturdays.

Becky, I am planning on the Kiawah half for early Dec 2009. Wendy (getnthnr) recommended it. She posted her race report last year and if I knew how to get the search working and how to link I'd do it, but unfortunately I am techie-challenged. If I remember correctly the medal is a picture of some sort of bird with a sort of marsh/vegetation background. Yep, I am a sucker for a cool medal.

Welcome! DH and I stayed at the CCI two years ago and really liked it, but you are right - there aren't any official race discounts. I did however manage to get a nice AARP discount - yes, it pays to be oldER.

I'm sure your SIL will manage to find a WISHer or two along the course - DH and I will be at the back of the pack.

I am really bummed about Angels Stadium - that was a real highlight for us two years ago. Darn!

Thank you for posting the link to the 1/2 marathon program. I was happy to see that Toy Story is the theme to the 5K (I figured it was going to be TS or Wall-E). If you haven't been on the new ride yet, it is really fun and very addicting (too bad there's no fastpass at DCA).

Like many others, I'm disappointed that we will not be running through Angels Stadium. The roads between the parks and the stadium are so boring that it was such a nice boost to see yourself on the jumbotron.

I'm bib 4371 - I hope that qualifies for the 1st wave (I submitted time from a prior race to qualify) so I can start running before it gets too hot.

Has anyone used the pace groups for the 1/2 marathon? I remember reading some information in one of the monthly newsletters. I signed up for info on the website but have not received anything.

Pat, I am planning to do Kiawah this december. I will let you know how it is. I am trying to recruit my friends to do it with me since it is so close to home (only about an hour). Medal sounds cool. I would love to see a pic of it.

Mommyto3princesses - Welcome to the group! :cheer2:

It's a different medal every year, but it has always included the heron for the years I've done it. I love, love, love this race and I am so sorry I can't do it this year. I'll be there with Pat next year, though.

I'm so excited about next year. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Here's the report. (Apologies -- and I'll do no more naughty thread hijacking after this.)

Now -- Back to Disneyland news!

I'm apparently in another county from you guys! Bib #5053 -- I may need to take a taxi to my start corral in LA. :rotfl:

Aloha Jeff -- Loved the photos. I have a decent photo from the inaugural year of myself in the stadium and outside with the bottom of the big A in the background. Like everyone else, I'm disappointed we don't get to go inside anymore.

Robert -- Thanks for the news/link about the online program. I hope I'm going to see you and Linda this year. I know you're busy with a number of other events.

I got our DL tickets today. It's getting REAL!!!!! My girls have been spending the money they've earned as lifeguards (their summer job) shopping the sale racks all week buying what they call their "California clothes." I told them to save some of that money for DL souvenirs. I can hardly wait for them to see DL and the room at Paradise Pier and downtown Disney...

I think I'm the one in left field with the number in the 7,000s.

Need to get my one day park ticket.
