Good morning all!

Mandy- sound like you guys had a nice time today. I can't believe that Disney is just a month away, it doesn't seem possible.:scared1:

Michele- Have fun w/ all your errands today. I'm here working as usual. I'll be doing laundry too and cleaning the bunny cage - so no big party here:lmao:

Laurie- How's the work stuff coming, I hope it's not making you too crazy and that you get time to enjoy yourself today

Jen- Hope you feel great after the chiropractor and that Sarah has a ball swimming

Heather- I'm a TA and I don't have any ME tags yet for my clients or my own and I go to Disney on 8/20

Danielle- great pics, looks like everyone enjoyed their day

Diane- glad gymnastics is still going strong and that the cast didn't get in the way

That actually makes me feel a lot better!! Thanks maybe they didn't forget me after all!!!

Good Morning all!!

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes for Anthony! He is a bit grumpy this morning - we had to take Carm over to the dealer to drop his car off for service, so, Ant was less than thrilled!! LOL But, your 'greetings' should brighten his day!!

Mandy - less than 40 days................... :cool1: Actually our Vero trip was 5 weeks from yesterday - I can't believe it is coming so quickly!! Before we know it the kids will be back in school!! And an all you can eat Chinese buffet?? I am guessing Diet is OUT the window again, huh?? :confused3

Michele - Enjoy your day of bill paying and running around! I am SOOOOOO jealous!!! :rolleyes1 I am hoping all goes well w/the party today - I will be so happy when it is ALL over with!

Sandy - Work is OK - we are supposed to have the Friday deadline, but found out we'll never make it, so, we aren't even going to shoot for Friday, but, the next few weeks are going to be hectic!!!!

Jen - I told you that site was addicting... did you find anything else that was good on there? Some of the pics are pretty gross, right? Have fun at the chiropractor!!

Suz - Great idea w/the countdown calendar! Enjoy your pool days this week -it's going to be a great one here too!

Veronica - How are you doing over there? Did you guys watch the All-star Game?? When is Tom back from Philly? We need to figure out something for DC - I think we are going to try to do the game on the evening of the 12th. Check your schedule!! I know you have bdays soon too - what are the dates of Emily and Bryan???

Danielle - GREAT pics w/that Amish kids, and WOW that boy on the other team is HUGE!!! I'd check his 'credentials' LOL :rotfl2:

Have a good day everyone!

Mandy~woohoo you have the day off!! Have fun strolling around town with Kerry!

Another beautiful pool day today. It was already getting hot as I did my walk this morning at 7:30. The next few days are going to be steamy:cool1: Angelina has a game at 6 so we have almost all day to play!!I am going to stop at home depot today and get some of the mickey heads from the paint dept to let the girls make a cruise countdown calendar. It's hard to believe it's close enough to start thinking of that.:yay: :yay:

Thanks Suz, it was nice having Kerry to myself today, we had a lovely time :)

Ooh, all this talk of pools and hot temperatures is making me so jealous, I hope you have a lovely day. Well done on your walking, I'm really impressed, I must get back on track with my exercise

Mandy- sound like you guys had a nice time today. I can't believe that Disney is just a month away, it doesn't seem possible.:scared1:

I'm with you Sandy, I can't believe that 4 weeks on Saturday I'll be at the Caribbean Beach Resort - these last few weeks are flying by. Have a nice day even though you're working, doing laundry and cleaning out rabbit cages ;)

LOL, I can't see me getting back on track with this diet lark now - I'll be happy if I can just maintain my current weight. BTW the Chinese meal was delish ;)

I hope Ant has a great party and that you all have fun. What kind of birthday cake is he having ? (omg, I'm talking about food again :rotfl: :rotfl: )

I hope you take a few more piccies for us

Have a fab day :thumbsup2

Good Morning everyone.

Happy birthday Anthony!

Sounds like everyone has fun plans for the day. I think we are going to spend the afternoon swimming since it's going to be a scorcher.

Michele, they are true Amish. They said that their bishop would frown upon the adults getting their pictures taken, but that we could take one of the kids. I asked if they had any kind of family pictures or painting and the mom said that they do not keep any images. She besides staying clean, they are not to make themselves look fancy, vain, etc. They live in Lancaster and my dad picked them up and dropped them off. Besides a cell phone they have for the furniture business, they do not have any modern devices or appliances. The kids spoke mostly German to each other and didn't really talk to me at all despite me asking questions, etc. They smiled and nodded, but other than that they were extremely quiet. I gave them a bunch of the boy's old Fisher price sets and they were thrilled. The girls had never had a doll house before and I gave them one we had and they just loved it. They have a modern large house, but they had the electricity turned off and use gas lamps. They have a horse/buggy but it only travels 5-10 miles an hour. They do have a non-Amish driver to take them to and from work. The husband works an hour and a half away one way and has to have a van driver take him and other Amish to/from work each day. I'm sure there are very strict sects that do not ride in cars, but a lot of the ones I see work outside of Lancaster have no choice but to have drivers. One of my good friends in the neighborhood's FIL lives in Lancaster and makes tons of $ driving Amish around.

We have TONS of Mennonites in this area and they are quite different than Amish. They wear a lot more color in their clothes, where as the Amish mainly wear earth colors. The Mennonite boys seem to wear pants year round, but any kind of shirt. The women all have plain style home made dresses and wear a little white prayer cap. Their hair is always up in a bun. There is a local Mennonite school which is always awesome to drive by because they look like Little House on the Prarie kids which I loved watching growing up. They will be outside at recess in the rain and snow and it just amazes me to see them playing kick ball in the pouring down rain. There are also several Mennonite kids that go to the boy's schools. Their families have their own vehicles, have electricity, etc. One of Keegan's friends from baseball is Mennonite and if I hadn't seen his mom, I'd never have known. The main Mennonite church in the area ("Meeting House") is about a mile from our house.

Diane, they also live near the Nickel Mine tragedy and their church members include most of the girls who were killed families.

I hope everyone has a great day. It's hard to believe our trip is right around the corner!

:wave2:

Just a quick hello. Busy at work today. I hope everyone's enjoying their summer. :flower3: Taylor is still in camp for another 3 weeks. She keeps pressing me to start packing for our trip. What's wrong with that girl. We have plenty of time. NOT  She has been counting down since school let out. She keeps saying "I can't wait to get on the plane." She's called my cousin twice to make sure that she will take care of our cat while we are away. I have been dilegently working on my FE stuff. The suitcases are out and I'm starting to make lists. I guess that means I'm making some progress. Just not enough for her. Can you tell that she is excited!

Have a great day all.

Mandy - How is your mum? I'm glad that you enjoyed your day of shopping and Chinese food. We have a Chinese take out across the street from us and their food is really good.

Michele - I hope you get a chance to relax after your errands today. The picture of "the twins" looks great.

Jen - Glad you got your travel taken care of. I'm working on my FE stuff too!

Diane- I'm sure that Taylor will be in the club. She has talked about it alot. She loves that kind of stuff.

Laurie - It looks like "the twins" had a good time. How is that deadline coming along? I hope that you get to the FI. The pirate exhibit is cool.
:bday: to Anthony! Enjoy the party!

Suzanne - Enjoy your pool day. It's suppose to be a scorcher here too. :scared: Like Florida in August :)

Danielle - Nice pictures. Are they sure that kind isn't in college ?:rotfl:

Hi Sandy, Heather, Pam, Veronica, Mary Ellen, Melissa, Jon & Michael

Sorry if I missed someone

Hi Betty-

It's good to hear from you. I'm glad Taylor is so excited. Tori isn't really talking much about it right now. Sometimes I wish she was younger so the excitement was still there.

Have a great day!

Wow! The thread is really humming today!

I'm back from my morning errands.. My back feels soooooooooooooo good!

The kids are having lunch then I am sure Sarah will swim although it looks like rain... Sarah is really super mellow since getting back from her trip. It is weird! I know I am mellow! I could go for nap!

I am loving catching up with you all!:goodvibes

Hi Betty, it sounds like you and Taylor are getting excited and organised for the Cruise. We're starting to sort out our Pirate Night clothing, and we're having fun buying accessories to wear. I'm really pleased that Kerry has been keeping in touch with some of the other teens and she is looking forward to meeting them and dressing up a bit too

My mum is doing great, thanks Betty. She's just bored being stuck at home, at least it's only for another week or so

Have a lovely day with your lists and sorting your FE stuff out :)

Hi Bahama Mamas!

Happy Birthday Anthony!!!!:cake:

Laurie - Hope Ant had a great day today! How is work going- did you get most of your project done? I did stay up for the All Star game last night and now I'm exhausted. I will check out the 12th with Tom (who get back from his trip tonight) and let you know tomorrow about DC :)

Danielle- Very nice pictures! I can't believe how much bigger the batter was than Keegan!

Pam - Any luck with the Nassau plans?

Jen - Do you have all your arrangements made for Toronto? Hope you had a fun day!

Diane - I can't believe you don't get a break from gymnastics! I hope you are having some fun this summer too :)

Heather - Hope you ME tags come soon!

Mandy - I'm glad you had a great time with Kerry today - you are making me want Chinese food for dinner!

Betty - Its so cute that Taylor is sooo excited for the trip! You two are going to have a blast :)

Suzanne - I hope you had a great pool day - I'm off to jump in ours with Bryan right now. I was just saying to Bryan this morning that we have to make a countdown calendar (he loved doing it in November). I love the ideas of the mickey heads - I may also have to steal your idea:)

Sandy - Has things calmed down at work at all? Hope you are enjoying the summer so far

A big hello to everyone else..sorry I missed a lot!

Things here have been good but busy as usual. Tom has been away the last few days and Bryan got Emily's mystery fever (dr. said summer virus) but seems much better today. The kids birthdays are approaching and I decided like a crazy person to have both parties in one day (on the 26th). Bryan is having his out at Pump it Up early in the morning then Emily's will be at the house in the afternoon. I'm glad they will be all done in one shot but now I just have to get everything done (and I was silly and made plans to go away this weekend)

Hope everyone is enjoying their not so lazy summer days!

Hi Veronica

Yes it was nice having Kerry to myself today :)

You must let us know the dates of Bryan & Emily's birthday, as we'll want to post 'Happy Birthday's' to them. Getting both the parties done in one day sounds like a good plan (though tiring ;) ). I hope Bryan is feeling better soon :thumbsup2

Have a lovely time in your pool :)

Now I need to make my FE. Taylor and I picked out some (non-traditional) fabic last week. I'm going to try and work in it sometime this weekend. I've started to think about pirate gear as well. I friend from work picked up some pirate mickey ears for Taylor to wear and I got some pirate accessories on sale at the end of March (some sort of Easter basket pirate thing with a lot of pirate stuff).

Are any of you Castaway Clubber's prone to seasickness? If so, what do you usually do for it? Taylor's doctor recommended kid's Dramamine for her. What about adults?

You must post a photo of your FE when you've finished it. I'm always impressed when someone makes their own things :thumbsup2

Sorry I can't help you with this Betty, though I am thankful that it's something I don't need to worry about - I hope someone can help you :)

It's nice to hear from so many of you today! I'm glad everyone's enjoying themselves and getting ready for the cruise.

Yes, that kid was really huge at baseball--he was even taller than the umpire! Keegan wears size 8 men's cleats and they looked like toddler shoes next to him too! At least he had a huge strike zone (and struck out each time!)

Betty, I have to figure out what we are wearing for Pirate's night too. We've pretty much worn the same costume/pirate stuff the last few Feb/December cruises and it's just too hot to wear this time of year. I wore the same shirt/skirt on our May cruise and sweated buckets so I'm afraid to wear it again in the summer months. We all have Pirates In the Caribbean t-shirts we got onboard one cruise so we can always do that with eye patches and the bandanas they give out. Keegan and Brennan both have nice costumes, but they are thick and long sleeve so I'm not so sure they will wear them. I guess they can always bring their pirate hats and just wear their t-shirts and dark shorts with a little cloth belt from red material.

Veronica, I hope Bryan is feeling better. The Amish kids we visited with yesterday all just got over chicken pox and I'm so glad my kids have had the boosters. I'm still worried about them breaking out with them though.

Jen, I'm glad your back is feeling better. Do you get adjustments or other treatments?

Laurie, I hope you are all having fun and Ant's having a great day.

Mandy I hope you are having an enjoyable evening.

Hi Sandy, Suzanne, Heather, Diane, Pam, Jon and anyone I may have accidentally missed.

Are any of you Castaway Clubber's prone to seasickness? If so, what do you usually do for it? Taylor's doctor recommended kid's Dramamine for her. What about adults?

Keegan has never been sea sick and Brennan's only gotten sea sick on smaller boats used on snorkel/dolphin (the one to Anguilla--he was fine on the Nassau excursion boat) excursions. His doctor told me to use 1/2 an adult bonine or one kid's bonine. I am very, very prone to seasickness and motion sickness in general (can't do spinny rides, merry go rounds, etc) and have generally been ok on our cruises. I've only gotten sick on one out of 5 DCL cruises and was fine with in a few hours of just laying down and getting fresh air (it's a pretty funny story actually----we had a port hole room and my parents had a midship verandah and gave me their KTTW card to go lay down in their room. I opened the verandah door as wide as it would go and laid down on the bed, taking off my formal gown and just laying in my undergarments. Only one of the white jumpsuit wearing verandah painting/ cleaning DCL guys came by on his little rope thing and about scared me to pieces. He never even looked me in the eye and kept going). I've tried the patch a couple of times but prefer to stick with Bonine. I don't get drowsy taking Bonine like I do with Dramamine. I have also tried that herbal liquid stuff you put behind your ear and it was like a useless placebo to me. It also stinks horribly.

I have never tried it, but I heard ginger chews and green apples are a natural remedy.

Thanks for the info. I'll bring something just in case. Neither one of us gets motion sickness. We've gone on the 'Spirit of Philadelphia' on the Delaware. I got a little dizzy but no upset stomach. Not the same as a big ship like the Wonder but our only 'ship' expericence. I just want to be prepared.
