2007 Transatlantic and First Med cruises thread

Scott and Lynn, have fun, watch out for the DNC traffic. It's been a fun convention to watch.

I'm thinking we should all be done at the expo by 4pm.

So, Susie, we'll shoot to meet at the Garden Walk at around 4ish. We can touch base on the phone.

Sounds like a plan, gotta get all the free stuff we can at the expo. Iam a sucker for those shamles chotskies (sp?)

Traffic eemed a little bit heavier in DEN today, Zoo was not busy and there were a bunch of new baby critters.

How was dinner and the race? I hope Scott made it to the ship in Florida!!! We were thinking about you guys and hope you had fun.:)

Hey Sandi,
Well, we had a very low key meet with Scott and Lynn, Curt and Susie w/DD, Anna and DD, us w/DD. We went to check out the new Garden Walk down the street from DL. It just opened and showed beautiful artist pics of the place, but when we got there it was a ghost town. One side is open and beautiful the other side is barely open. So, we had this very pretty food court all to ourselves outside with all new wood tables. We ate and talked and then everyone had to head back. So, it was very relaxing and low key to get ready for the race weekend.

Anna and I did the 5K and the little girls did the kid's race. It was fun... all the floats were out with music and all the characters as you go through both parks. The kids race was packed with people. there were over 700 kids (I think) It was so, so, so much bigger than the WDW race we went to in May with Nanaguide and her GS. I liked the simplicity of the WDW race better. Funny, usually its the other way around with WDW being so much bigger.

The theme for both races was Toy Story.

The next day was the half marathon and when Ken, Scott or Lynn logs back on they can tell us about it. I know they had about 30 degrees cooler weather than last year.

I have been thinking of those guys on the cruise and all the storms out there. I am sure they are having a blast, but hope they get to go to Castaway. We leave in 3 weeks and I just want to be able to get on the ship - I don't care what happens after that - days at sea would be great!

Dinner sounds wonderful - I am looking forward to seeing the new gardens when we make the trek out there. It was probably nice having the whole place to yourself :) I cannot imagine that many kids running in the race. Good for them! It was weird to think that DL was bigger then WDW - you are right - it usually is the other way around.

Well my and Jason's flight for WDW lifts off in 2 days, 17 hours and 9 min! We'll spend just over a week at Disney staying in the AKL Villas...and then board the Magic for a wonderful Double Dip cruise! Of course we'll have Hadley and Sandi's families and Chris & Rob aboard with us...which is amazing...but we will also be missing all our wonderful TransAtlantic friends and thinking about you all!!

Hey you guys, have a great time. Please post an update about the dry dock changes.

Kelly, I bet Erik will have an update posted before the sail away paty:rotfl2:

We are soooo excited for this trip. We will miss so many of you--but it is nice to have 5 of us going togther again (Erik did you know Jerry and Sherri--jwhril was their DIS name I think--from the TA booked last week also?).

Okay, now I am going to brag over here just as I did on the otehr thread (but it means more here where you all know Marika;) )--Marika passed her black belt candidate test at karate today. That is a pretty big deal and I am VERY proud of her:goodvibes

Now I am counting on you all to jump on booking the early TA for summer 2010when we can in October, kay?

It looks like Scott did not post anything on here about races or cruise - race went well, yes, it was much cooler! Scott did get some bad powerade around mile 6, and had to hit the portapotties a few times, so his time was slower than he anticipated, but not his worst. I did a fair job - not my best but not my worst. It was great seeing folks out there.

Alex and Carolyn met up with us at the airport, we all hung out in the Delta Crown room for hours! The flight was uneventful. Alex and Carolyn gave us a ride from the airport to the port, via their house to repack.

The cruise was alot of fun, we did manage to hit Castaway Cay the first day and Nassau the second day, but we left there early to avoid the storm, then we had a day at sea, the last day we were supposed to hit Castaway Cay again, but we could tell when we got up that we wouldn't make it. The captain turned the ship around and headed back to calmer waters. For those who were on the Med crossing - it was not as rough as that, but the adult pool was a moderate wave pool and the other pools were closed that morning. So, the storm only effected us one day. In Nassau, all the stores had their storm shutters up, they were well prepared for the hurricane.

We spent 2 days at AKL afterwards, that was very relaxing. Good trip!

For those heading to WDW - have a great time! Hope it is a bit cooler for you, it was really hot when we were there! We will be back at WDW for the TOT race the end of Oct, if anyone else will be there then, let us know. We can meet for a graze around the world at Food and Wine Festival!

Lynne - it was great to hear from you! We were wondering how the cruise went. Since you didn't do Castaway the second time, did you go anywhere - or just a day at sea. We leave next Saturday and are so excited. Tomorrow is the gang at AK!! The weather is beautiful and cooler and yes, we would love to see you the end of October for a little walk around the world. Let us know.

I don't know where it is posted - apparently somewhere on the disboards, but the rumor is they are taking the Magic to the Baltic Sea in May. You can book your reservation around the 10th of October - I think that is right!!!

I am really interested in doing the Baltic cruise. As much as I would love to do another Transatlantic...... I just could not take that much time to do a back to back!

So whoever wants to do the first Baltic!! :thumbsup2

Been very busy here this week with the power outages in Northeast Ohio, but southern Ohio is FAR worse than we were. Thank you to Hurricane Ike and his left over wind.

Greetings from WDW everyone!! We're here and having a great time and I just logged on quick---yes everyone's all abuzz about another TA and Baltic cruises. We're going to look into it on the ship next week and we have my Travel Agent on the lookout for details, too. If it happens...jason and I are going to SERIOUSLY look at doing b2b----TA and the 1st Baltic.

Erik - PLEASE keep me posted - I am so up for another B2B...well, back to proofing my paper.

I have forgotten how to write in correct English...it took me 8 hours to correct this paper....I have no brain left at all....

part of my paper actually suggests that writing skills are dying, due to abbreviated type - it even has a name !! Txt Spk. go figure.

Here was our weekend....

So the tileis down, Lynn will have some staining on the bookcases and cleaning up the grout residue. Best investment we made this weekend was a new set of knee pads for me (old ones were shot) and a pair for Lynn. That was a bunch of work about a total of 28 man hours, we are pooped and the Jacuzzi tub felt good.

Getting closer to being done.

here is the 2010 rumor thread.

Have everyone at WDW this week and on the Magic.

oh, you are not kidding about rumor and speculation. gee - 15 pages of no information....I skimmed them. I will continue to watch the thread, but no real information is there.

I will contact a TA to see if they can find out a little more, like maybe the dates??

Who all is up for another B2B???

Scott and Lynn - that looks amazing!! I have been watching your posts and you have done a beautiful job with the basement!!

Hello everyone - had a great time at Animal Kingdom with Jason and Erik and the Barths! We are excited about our cruise. Scott - the basement is beautiful!! You deserve the jacuzzi tub after all that work. Keep sending pictures, we all enjoy looking at them. Darrell won't have enough vacation to do a B2B, but definitely the TA!

Padalyn - hope your paper went well. We will let you all know what we hear, if anything from the Captain after we get back.:yay:
