2007 NBA Finals Thread - Spurs vs. Cavaliers

Hey, I'm here! I was looking for this thread to show off my siggy!

Here is an interesting article about Duncan. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19039734/

I think the message of that article is accurate, but much too late. Duncan always was the best player to come since Jordan. Has been since his first year in the league. Has been since I collected every rookie year sports card made of him knowing he was going to be HUGE. Has been since being named rookie of the year.

Truly was the heir to the throne.

But now it's clearly Lebron's time. I admit that as a huge Duncan fan.

Ooops, sorry.

That is what happens when you never look at tags and have all pictures/sigs turned off.

It really does happen all the time. I can give you the long version of how it happened but it really isn't all the interesting. The whole thing started when I was a CM and this ID was given access to the CM board not my ID (which I've long since forgotten.) Over the years I've thought about changing it but I didn't want to lose tags and just got lazy.

::yes:: I agree. There's no question that Duncan's been the best overall player in the league for years -- he basically picked up where David Robinson (another incredibly classy player, BTW) left off.

But LeBron (along with guys like Dwayne Wade and others) are the future of the league. I hate trying to compare anyone to another player (all that "next Jordan" stuff), because every player is different. Anytime LeBron's been asked about being the "next Jordan", he answers that he's not worried about being the next anyone -- he's too worried about being LeBron. :thumbsup2

12 hours to go :cool1:

5 more hours left...can't wait!

Love duncan...but I would not ever put him as the next jordan! or best in the league... he has a solid team around him and has since he joined the spurs...put him on atl or the clippers and no way does he even have one ring yet.

liek I said I lvoe him and would take him on my team any day...and he's definately one of the top 10 players in tehleague..but tops....no way.

Shoot ****ie Shoot!!!

LJ...4 of 16, 14 pts...OUCH!

Parker & Duncan put on a clinic.

Spurs 1, Cavs 0

Parker & Duncan put on a clinic.

Parker certainly did dominate last night -- and Duncan was a beneficiary of that as well. The Cavs have to find someone to help guard Tony or this series will be quick. LeBron can do a decent job, but it'll kill his offense. Hughes isn't healthy enough to deal with him. Gibson's their best option right now, I think.

We'll see how Sunday night goes. One thing I can say about the Cavs this year versus last, is they bounce back a lot better from losses this year, especially LeBron. :thumbsup2

I don't know about you, but that was the worst game I have ever seen Lebron play(he got his looks) just clanked everythign off the front iron.

Lebron did fine against parker and ****ie did also...almost all of parkers points came while Huges was guarding him. I know he wants to help but that bum foot is hurting us more then helping at this point.

And WHY or WHY do we keep playing DAMON JONES (who has made 1 shot all playoffs and has NO D!) Snow would be a smarter play...still no offense, but I think he could cover parker no problem (remember when we beat the spurs twice he was out starter)

We'll bounce back. Lebron will not go 4-16 again you can count on that.

And Why wasn't ****ie getting his shots until late in the game? He needs to be in earlier and needs to get some shots off.

one last complaint..why did the cavs look tired??? We stood around waiting for rebounds to come to us.(i've never seen us give up so many boards where players jusmped right over our guys. We just stood there!! did the pistons series take more out of us then I thought it did?

The Spurs put the to sleep. They have that effect on amost everybody. I almost didn't make it past the third quarter. :rotfl:

And so much for that Lebron ratings boost. I heard on the way home that it got the worst ratings for a Finals game 1 EVER! People are sick of those Sleepy Spurs. ;)

The spurs are a bore to watch that is the truth! and I like Defensive basketball! I see why the avergae joe from pehonix or LA might get bored watch them real quick. When your used to a run and gun offense the spurs and even cavs slow down half court games could be boreing.

I also don't think the 9:00pm start times help. I've had numerous people tell me they aren't gonna watch because it will on too late!(espically when you have to get up at 4:00am for work!)

I'd rather my team be a "boring" World Champ than an also-ran. Those champion Rockets teams in the mid-nineties were plodding on offense. Dump it into Hakeem every time down... Still, I love looking at those World Championship banners in the Toyota Center.

I guess it does tend to be a yawner to those who aren't fans of the two teams involved.

*sighs* Night of mourning in this household. FH had to turn off the TV and come join me in the computer room before he threw our lamp through it.
