2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Our family is from Dothan. I have two relatives that work on the helicopters there. It's about 1 1/2 hrs to Destin or PC so that will be a nice break (though not as nice as Hawaii). We're 3 hrs from there so we go about every 6 months or so. DM is headed there this weekend for her high school reunion.

Kay, It's great he's almost home. His kids must be excited. I wish them the best in Dothan. I have been there for a few swim meets. It's a small town with lots of dressed up peanuts all aver the place??? They do have a great recreation area for families.

Well gotta get to work.

have a great Friday- Ours is going to be rainy & windy..........

Just giving us a bump so we don't fall off the front page.

Just a reminder that tonight is cruise chat so stop on by if you are free. (Just click on the word chat on the red bar above). Chat starts at 9 pm Eastern time.

Hi to all DVC Cruisers pirate:

Are we ready to leave now, instead of a month from now :hourglass ?

From the response, it looks like there is interest in doing the fish extenders. Sounds like fun! I would be willing to keep a log/list of all staterooms and people who are participating in the program. This will help us know the amount of fish food needed.

If this is acceptable to everyone. I am asking that you e-mail me at themallons@aol.com if you would like to particpate. The catch will be reeled in on October 7, 2007.

Please e-mail me your stateroom and number of fish extenders per stateroom. :grouphug: After 10/7/07, I will email the respondents with a list of participating cruisers so we can know the amount of surprises to pack.

Let's make this a great fishing expedition!

If you have any suggestions, I am open to hear them as this is new to me as well!

Thank you,
Pauline

So how are we doing on the Fish Extenders. I was going to go this weekend and get the stuff to make them, but wanted to make sure we are on and we are FISHING:woohoo:

YEAH!!!! I was right! Marty Sklar is a GREAT choice and a WONDERFUL addition to the DVC cruise. We met him, and Tim O'Day, at the 50th Event at Disneyland. These are the greats, guys! Tim O'Day has an amazing personality, too, I might add.

Marty was one of the originals alongside Walt in the early days of building the Disney name - he has put very influential footprints on the Disney brand (parks and animation).

Tim O'Day co-wrote a book called Disneyland: Then and Now which is an amazing read. This guy can tell you everything about that park (I'm partial to it since it's in my backyard). His personality is the greatest part of him though. I know everyone who meets him will come away with a warm feeling.

I'm excited about this news. My husband was hoping for Olszewski, too, because he wants a miniature replica of the ship - hint, hint, Disney, if you're reading... but he's still happy with this news.

:cool1:

Congrats to Kay that Kim is coming home!!! :cheer2: Can't say enough THANK YOUS to all of the military families for the brave sacrifices you make. :thumbsup2

Fishy fishy - I'll email you Pauline. Thanks for putting it together. I'll have to come up with something clever now.

We went to Disneyland yesterday and rode on Nemo for the first time - lines were too long before, but yesterday it was only a 45 minute wait (of course, the rest of the rides were walk ons :confused3 ). What a fun ride!! Don't think I'll wait more than 30 minutes for it again, but it was a cute ride put together very well. Loved the animations. It was just so nice to be able to step foot in the subs and submerge in the lagoon again.

We leave in 21 days!!! :yay: Can't wait! :woohoo:

I had to post this from what I read on the main cruise forum. Looks like we got a piece of prime real estate for the 10/21 cruise:

10/21/2007 4-Night Bahamian Cruise Category 12 : Standard Inside Stateroom $ 200,669.41

:confused3 Think I could get that price on the open market for our cruise tickets?

:rotfl: :lmao:

Good morning everyone!

Trishy - thanks for the great feedback on Marty and Tim. I had honestly not heard of either man but after reading what DVC put out I was excited. Now I'm even more excited hearing your first hand experiences.

Too funny about the pricing. A computer glitch for sure! :rotfl:

ok, we are 4 weeks out. I have to send the dining list in to DCL. So if you haven't sent me you info please do.

If you want to sit with other Disers i need your full names, ages, cabin numbers and early/late dining.

I bearly have enough for three tables at each sitting, so I havn't heard from many. Please let me know.

Have a great day- from rainy Florida.............

geez, I guess I better get my head together this morning. I just read your post and thought - hey - I just posted that, why did it send me my post??

I am doing the same thing for another cruise and I just didn't stop to think.

OK - time to regroup !!!

GOOD MORNING ------------

Little rain here in Ft. Lauderdale also.

Now if our small airplanes taking off and landing from the private airport about 5 miles from my house, we would be just fine and dandy.

Another one crashed yesterday on I-95 about 1 miles from my house. Traffic was no good to say the least.

Am going out to eat some b/fast this morning at a local little friendly restaurant. I love that place. Nicest people I have met in a long time - until the Member cruise coming up and I met you guys :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No, seriously ;)

I know mapquest is right up to date. Might even be months or more behind.

Do you know how to get there??? Or are you just trying to do the mapquest to confirm??

Can tell you.

Kay- being the cruise expert, what does every one like in the fish extender?

I want to echo Joanne's post on a few counts.

1) if you are having doubts about linking dining please don't It is a lot of fun. Even if you have a full table or want a table for just your family you can asked to be linked and seated with the group but at your own table.

2) this is the last week for buttons as well. If you haven't sent your info in please do so now. If you are unsure check out the group web page. If I have the info for you and your family in the gallery then you are set for buttons.

One last thing and this is more for first time cruisers. Back before the 2005 Member Cruise I started doing a "tip of the day" on the thread. Some of the cruisers asked me to compile them in one document which I did. A copy of the document is also on the group web page. Hopefully it will help some new first time cruisers for this cruise.

Kay, we would love directions, we always stay at Shades of Green or the All star so we are not sure of where we are going. Do the resorts let you check in early and use the pools? We will be getting there around noon and don't have the meet until 3. We can't check in until 4- right?

ha ha - far from expert but do have a lot of fun.

Let's see - first off, even little things might add up to more $$'s than not 'cause $$'s do add up, as we know.

On other cruises, people have got to the M & M site and ordered a small package of M & M's with names on them. like the first name of the person giving them out - like I would put Kay or KR on them.

Maybe a little flag from the $1 store - that would be a good place to go to find small items. Maybe a package of a dozen or so would be $1. That would go a long way.

Make up a postcard on the computer with a pic of your choice and your name beneath the picture.

Little pieces of bubble gum or piece of candy for each person in the room.

How about buying CD's in bulk at Office Depot and burning some Disney songs on them. That would be real fun to do and just your time in burning them.

I'll think some more and post later - DD is coming up for b/fast and I have to get ready.

I'll PM you the directions shortly.

the norm is check in at 4:30 now !!!!!!!!!!! pretty soon we will have check in at midnight - :rotfl2:

But, I don't think I have ever gotten there early and not been able to check in. Guess it just depends on many factors.

Last week Linda and I got to VWL at 10 am and we were able to get our room right away.

It is sure worth a try to go ahead and check in and see if they happen to have rooms available. That might be a bad w/end to get it early.

I think they might be busy that week. But I would sure try.

In any event you can use the pools and they will hold your luggage for you. That is no problem at all.

There is no problem with them letting you check in early. The resort I believe is full. Alot of us DVCers have a tendency to stay closer to check out time, so room available may not happen. You can use the pools and any of the activities they have there. SSR is a great resort like all the DVC resorts.
