2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

I am kinda excited about a "ball". It will be great to see all our friends in their finery. Any ideas about what to wear?

Guess Kay and I will be dancing partners! :rotfl: :rotfl:

FYI-my dress from the Med. cruise is ready to go. When we get on board, I will send out to have pressed by DCL and have it delivered back all ready. Our friends, Tony and Adrienne (who are on this cruise) clued us in quite a few cruises ago about not getting our stuff cleaned and pressed before we went and then having it all wrinkled when we pulled out of the luggage. Tony told us that while we are unpacking, immediately put your stuff that needs pressing and/or cleaning into the laundry bag and have DCL do it. We have been doing that ever since. The pressing charge is 1/2 price of the laundry charge. And the prices are reasonable.

Okay, I'm off my soap box now (or should I say "laundry box") :laundy:

Welcome back Dan & Nan, hope you had a great summer, we did some beach time too this summer after we took a trip in June to Ca.

There is a meet on Saturday @ 3pm at the Beach club so we can all meet.

I am also linking everyones dining for all that are interested. I need your Full names, room number, ages and if you have early or late dining. I need to send this in about three weeks.

I envy your retirement and travel. We will be there some day. Right now we work for college and vacations.

Well I have three loads down and many more to go............

Hopefully there is some pool time in my future:goodvibes

At what location are they holding the ball and is it by invite only?
I was just wondering where they can put everyone at one time except maybe the top deck 10.

tiggerguy :thumbsup2

I got my suit ready

According to the website, the Atrium is where they will be holding the ball. Sounds fun! (but crowded)

Mary, thanks for that wonderful information! I'll try to be patient and just wait for the news as it trickles in. I'm just soooo looking forward to this vacation. :woohoo:

No, we don't have to disembark. We just have to go to Guest Services to pick up our KTTW card. We also are staying in the same stateroom (unless we change!) so we don't have to pack up either!
That would be nice to sit back and watch others get off the ship while enjoying the luxury of staying on! I've got to make it a goal of mine to do that one of these trips. So...are you going to point and laugh at everybody? :rotfl:

It will be interesting to figure out the how they are going to have a ball in the atruim. It's not that big. Will be done in rotation like dinner? I can't imagine how they would have that many people in one spot.

Im with you on that one acourtwdw. What I think is tuxedos for men and gowns for ladies. No suites for men and no pants suites for women.Im sure thats formal wear that they are talking about so that's how they can hold it in the atrium.Im not bringing a tuxedo

Do you think that they won't let you attend unless you are properly dressed? That wouldn't be fair. Not everyone can afford or wants to be in formal attire. It would be great for DVC to give us more details on what to expect for the ball

Good morning Member Cruisers!

We sail in 8 weeks!

We're at eight - isn't that great? :)

Honestly this is Disney and I think they are just trying to make a magical experience. I'm sure everyone will be welcomed. Those who want to dress up and enjoy they evening that way - great! Those who want to go a little more casual I'm sure will still have a great time. Just remember to follow the basic dress code which is no shorts in the dining room.

Happy Sunday everyone:

I am home and not "sad" but not happy. Had a wonderful time on the cruise.

Captain John will be our Captain. Captain Henry left this morning for his time off. He won't be back until the first week in December, which I will be back on the ship then also.

Our cruise director will not be, Christiaan. He will be away also. He will be going to the Magic. He seems to be very happy about that.

WE got into Port this morning at 5 am and they cleared the ship by 7 am and started disembarking at 7 am. I got home before 10 am (Ft. Lauderdale) and it was WONDERful. Happy to be home so early, as I have lots to do
now.

Have to get ready to fly out to SLC (Seaulater's) and then we head out to DL for othe Labor Day weekend.

The weather was beautiful the full three days. CC was awesome.

BTW - in the near future, a family will be chosen to stay over night on CC.

Each trip they choose a family now to board first and be the "dreams" family for each cruise. It will run through the end of 2008.

It rained at CC for about 10 minutes and it was so hot, that steam came up from the ground and there was fog/steam all over. Very, very muggy and hot.

I didn't even eat on the Island, I went back and at the buffet at Parrot Cay and read my book and took my time eating. It was very relaxing.

Haven't read and caught up with the postings since I have been cruisin' but will after I get my pet home shortly.

hey Linda: since we have 3 days at CC, that would be a good time for them to leave us there and pick us up on the last stop. Maybe it will be our "dream" vacation????????????  :dance3:

I totally agree, that's why Kay and I booked B2B and are staying on for 3 more nights, so when everyone gets off Thursday morning, we will be lying around the pool all by ourselves. Maybe I can sneak in a trip down the Mickey slide since no one will be on board? HA

Only in my dreams....................
But they did say this was the year of a million dreams, didn't they? :cloud9:

Hubby has a nice suit and I have a nice gown so we will bring those. He doesn't own a tux and I am not going to rent him one. I would imagine a suit would be fine for the gents.

Hubby said to register the kids for the kids club that evening because they don't have any formal attire, and it will give us some nice adult time :)

I am very excited - 8 weeks. It will really go by fast now as I start school tomorrow.

One thing that they changed on the cruise this time - was the first talk and the last one about disembarkation was in the movie theatre, Deck 5-midship, and not the large theatre on Deck 4 forward. That was a bad move.

Hope on my cruise in two weeks, they change it back to the large seating theatre.

I'm not complaining, just commenting on where the talks were held.

In the first DVC meeting they gave everyone a 15 year blue bag (the nice ones that they give out for trivia all the time) and red hat and lanyard with pins, and of course, the magnet. Not too many onboard DVC members.

The two new ships will be out in Feb. 2011 and Feb. 2012. Everyone already knows that. I told Captain Henry that the two ships should be named "DREAMS" and "WISHES". Just seems appropriate.

Dont' know if I'll point and laugh, but will probably holler and yell!

It's sounds to me like the "ball" in the atrium will probably be similar to the After Golden Mickey party in the atrium. It will be interesting to see if there are "golden colored" ballons in the fishnet from the ceiling in the atrium when we board that Sunday.

Yeah, we will just keep dreaming about it. However, it would be fun to stay there for a couple of days and have the island all to ourselves. Wonder if they would leave our room host, our dining room servers, and a couple of other key people with us. I would hate to have to take care of myself. :lmao: Besides, how would I get chocolate on my pillow?

OK, I've waited till 8 weeks out to join the "conversation", I think that's long enuff. I can't wait to meet everybody--I've been reading and I'm so jealous of all you who are cruising already. Since this is our first time on any kind of cruise, we're almost as excited as little kids waiting for Santa! :cool1: :yay: :cool1: :yay:

I'm with you, MORE info, please!! No way is DH renting a tux--he's grumpy enuff about having to bring a suit now. Solved my apparel dilemma with an ankle-length black skirt, a fancy top and sparkly sandals. I think I'll pass muster, anyway. Oh, and thanx for the tip on sending the stuff out to be pressed as we unpack!

Who was it asking about OKW prior to the cruise? DH will be there starting on the 14th and I'll join him in the wee hours of Sat. morning, the 20th. He gets more vacation time than I do  We're at SSR for the weekend after the cruise, though.

Welcome aboard Beth, tell us about yourself... This sounds like a fun bunch.

We are waiting patiently for the next 8 weeks. The stores are starting to put out the Halloween stuff, so it is getting closer.................

Sent the last one off to college today. So it is now very quiet, I cleaned one room last week and I will do the other this week.

Have a great evening

EVERYBODY Would like to know who will be staying at Old Key West before the cruise Nanc and I will be arriving the 19th staying at Old Key West then after the cruise coming back and staying three more days.
Would be great to meet you all.
