2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

OK, I've waited till 8 weeks out to join the "conversation", I think that's long enuff. I can't wait to meet everybody--I've been reading and I'm so jealous of all you who are cruising already. Since this is our first time on any kind of cruise, we're almost as excited as little kids waiting for Santa! :cool1: :yay: :cool1: :yay:

I'm with you, MORE info, please!! No way is DH renting a tux--he's grumpy enuff about having to bring a suit now. Solved my apparel dilemma with an ankle-length black skirt, a fancy top and sparkly sandals. I think I'll pass muster, anyway. Oh, and thanx for the tip on sending the stuff out to be pressed as we unpack!

Who was it asking about OKW prior to the cruise? DH will be there starting on the 14th and I'll join him in the wee hours of Sat. morning, the 20th. He gets more vacation time than I do  We're at SSR for the weekend after the cruise, though.
Hey Beth,

We're from Fairfax, VA, how many of you will be joining us for this cruise? We will traveling with 8 all together, we are flying JetBlue from Dulles. Can't wait to meet you.

Hey Crazybout Disney,

I thought I was crazy because my 2 favorite things are Disney and Star Trek.
It's good to see I'm not the only one. (At least that's what your signature says). My DW just bought me the fan's choice Captain's DVD (Star Trek) set as well as Disneyland annual passes for my B-day. What a mixture.

OK - then - we'll tell them to just skip us and go to the next family.

I would rather stay in the Castle anyways :rotfl2:

But then again, wonder if the "dream" cruises have been given away as yet???? Shouldn't we have a choice of how we spend our "dreams" ?? :confused3

Isn't it nice to dream and live in a fantasy world :wizard: :wizard:

Yeah, we will just keep dreaming about it. However, it would be fun to stay there for a couple of days and have the island all to ourselves. Wonder if they would leave our room host, our dining room servers, and a couple of other key people with us. I would hate to have to take care of myself. :lmao: Besides, how would I get chocolate on my pillow?

Good Morning All, I've got my middle DS up and ready for his first day of school except he's looking for his uniform shoes. When I ask you to set out your uniform the night before and I get a "Yes, I did it already!" and it never fails something is missing in the am. I've switched out the laundry, changed my clothes and got on DIS. Now just waiting patiently for this cruise to come up!!!

Have a good day everyone.

Theresa: I used to love the first day of school for my girls and boy. I seem to remember those times so clearly. When I see the pics I used to take, I just smile and it is such a good feeling. They are so innocent and sweet at that age - any age under 13 - :rotfl2:

If you're crazy, then so am I! Oh....wait, I already admitted that in my "name" And I think your b'day gifts are awesome!! So I guess we now know that we'll have at least 1 other person on the cruise to talk to!! :thumbsup2

Joannel, it's so funny, everytime someone asks me to tell about myself, I wonder if I should just post my resume! I'm a bookkeeper/tax preparer by day, a scrapbooker/crafter in my spare time, I love almost all things Star Trek and Stargate, I ring handbells and sing in the choir at church, and I'M the one who talked DH into looking at DVC back in 2001!! We're empty nesters--my kids are 26 and 28 (1 of each gender) and he has 2 boys at 30 and 32, the eldest married. Oh, and I'm a grandma wannabe, so if anybody needs somebody to hold the baby, or play with the toddler, CALL ME!!! How's that for multi-faceted?!!

Good Morning PKK/MJK
Glad to hear you will be at OKW when we are there hope we get a chance to meet before the cruise.

Good morning everyone!

We are Disney and Star Trek fans as well. In fact Mark and I met at a sci-fi convention! :)

Now that the cruise is getting to close we need to finalize the button list and start making them. Since we are driving down and there is a lot to prepare for the road trip we're going to make October 1st the cut-off date for buttons.

So if you haven't gotten me your into yet please do (see post #1). If you have in the last couple weeks and it isn't up yet I plan to do that today.

Thanks everyone!

WE got into Port this morning at 5 am and they cleared the ship by 7 am and started disembarking at 7 am. I got home before 10 am (Ft. Lauderdale) and it was WONDERful. Happy to be home so early, as I have lots to do
now.

.

Hi Kay,

I was wondering is this earlier than normal? We have some people that need to be back at WDW resort no later than 11:30 to make an appt at 12:00. I think they will have plenty of time, but if it is this early, it makes me more confident they would make it.

I would also need to think about contacting the transportation company to make the pick up time a little earlier. Right now they have it at 9:00...makes me want to change it to 8:00 or at least 8:30.

Also - is it possible for the early and late dining reservation people to disembark at the same time?

Hi everyone,

OK I'm glad I'm not the only one here who thinks tuxes and gowns is too much! I will not be renting a tux for my hubby or son. I will try to convince my DH to bring a suit, however I know he will not be happy!

Do you think if we just go straight from dinner or whatever in our dinner wear it will be ok?

Should be an intyeresting time though. We will definitely go. I will have to pull out some fancier dresses then I originally planned on packing.

Is a cocktail dress ok?!

We are driving down Saturday. We will be at the meet at 3. Then we have dinner reservations at Boma's. Any one is welcome to join us. We have never been to the Animal kingdom lodge.

have a good Monday.

I am not even sure we want to bring that dressy of clothes. So maybe we will just watch from above. I don't have a gown and am sure not spending that kind of money for one night.

Beth, I am a numbers cruncher also, try to do the scap booking thing, but I am not very good. Lots of stickers.....

I'm kinda excited about the "ball". We never get the chance to really dress up. I'm pretty sure that if I showed up at Applebee's in a gown, they would think that I had a serious problem :rotfl:

Linda here, but you should have no problem getting to WDW in time for your 12 noon appointment. And yes, you can disembark whenever you want when they have cleared the ship. They don't check anyone as they are leaving. Don't know if you are on main or late dining.

I think an 8:30 pickup would be great. If you get off the ship at 8 a.m. and by the time you get your luggage and clear customs, 8:30 would probably be good and then you would be to WDW by 9:45 or so.

That should give you plenty of time.

Joan
Is there a formal night on the Cruise? In 2005 as long as the men wore Sport Coats and good pants that was fine.
Danandnan

What Linda said - yes - you will have plenty of time.

ALSO - you can eat the Buffet for breakfast and not go to the dining room.

The early dining on disembark day is 6:30 - that is what I did this past Sunday and by that time it was 7:00 am and they cleared the ship. I was off by 7:10 and on the road.

Now if you have transportation, you would have to check with them. Don't know how many people they wait for or how long.
