2007 Basic Package Bookings Available NOW!

We have called 2 different times and were told both times can't book a package until August. :furious: We have a room only ressies at CSR for May 2007 and each time we have been told room only is a basic package :wave2:

I would keep trying back until you get someone who CAN help you. I seem to get that a lot, agents who aren't up to date on the info. No biggie. Just call back.

Oh, and a "room only" reservation and a basic package are 2 different reservations.

I have called twice and both CM's said I could not do the basic pkg. just room only. I politely discussed with them that I could but no luck. After talking to them I got more confused as to what I should do considering the following senario: three rooms at POP beginning Aug 5, 2007 (first day of value season) with AAA rate, maybe AP if available, and maybe dining plan. With reserving the pkg. am I
more likely to get a AAA room rate when available and do I need a TA to book it for me. I typically like to do everything myself. Thanks for any feedback anyone gives.

It's my understanding that the only basic packages that they are accepting are exactly that, just the basic package. I have heard on other forums that AAA reservations are accepting basic packages through there and when the rates come out you will be modified. So, i don't think you can book a basic package if you want anything other than the basic "room only" package.

I called yesterday and cancelled my room only reservation for JAN 2007 and booked the basic package for the same time, resort and room type. I was informed that the ticket and other package rates will be out early to mid august.

Once again it's DIS Boards to the rescue! Just called my AAA travel agent and told her what I heard..she said.."hmmm..i don't know about that..let me check" Two minutes later she came back on the phone said "all set...I changed you to the basic package..you will get a credit minus the new deposit" I told her no, I think they cancelled the whole thing and need a new credit card number. Her reply "no..all set" Five minutes later my phone rings..my travel agent with Disney on the other line...oops..need a new credit card number... :rotfl: lol! Then she thanked ME for the update on the basic package...lol...thanks Dis boards!!! :cheer2:

Ok, I have read the entire thread and need help! I am responsible for 14 people traveling to Disney in February....although I always try to get a good deal this is serious pressure! :worried: All 5 families have booked their room only ressies for February, 2007. Do I have to have them all switch to basic packages? They all want their tickets and the meal plan. I just want to make sure they all get to stay where they want for the best price. I checked with Disney today, the CM I talked to tried to tell me October before packages were ready.

Everyone on here seems to have booked basic package for 2007 through AAA and not through Disney. I tried to book twice directly with Disney and they claim no AAA rates are available until October.

Has anyone here actually booked a AAA basic package for 2007 directly through Disney?

I had a really knowledgable CM on Thursday or Friday, can't recall which day. At any rate, I was trying to book a room only reservation for February for 2 rooms at the Royal Palm Concierge at the Grand Floridian. For one night's deposit for two rooms, it was going to be like $1400.00 plus. Ouch.

She said why don't you just do the Basic Package with Mini Golf included. To which I responded that I didn't care about Mini Golf. She chuckled and said that the Mini Golf package was the only one they had available right now and that if I booked that, I would only need to put down $200 (both rooms combined). To which I replied, "Great".

So, I can see where this is an advantage to those who are staying at Moderate or Deluxe accomodations rather than for those who are staying at Value accomodations where your deposit wouldn't have been $200. But for me, that saves me $1200 today.

Now of course, with a package, you have to have it paid for 45 days in advance, but I still feel like I'll have a better handle on everything within 2 months of our vacation.

For now, I just wanted to know that we had 2 rooms at the Main Building Grand Floridian for X days at X time.

Plus, we have a round of Mini Golf ;)

You may want to call back and double check your reservation, the reservation terms usually require a $200 deposit for EACH room, even when they are reserved together. One time I had an agent take a 1 room deposit and the 2nd room was dropped from the reservation automatically! Maybe things are different now, but it wouldn't hurt to double check.

Ok I am confused. I have contacted my ta, and she states that she can't do anything until August, and Disney tells me the same thing. In general will it hurt anything if I wait until August, we are looking at staying at the Pop for 7 nights May 20-27? Thanks

I'm interested to know the same thing. I have family joining me at the end of May and they will be staying at ASMovies. They will need a packaged deal with tickets and food, but I don't think this can be booked yet. Two questions...
1. Will it hurt me to wait and book the whole package just as we want it when the rates come out in August?
2. If I book the basic package for them now, can the package be changed to make it exactly what we want? What I mean is, if we book a mini golf package now and then call back to change it in August will that be possible or are we suck with mini golfing?

Thanks for the heads up. I did call back and another very nice CM confirmed everything, including the $200 deposit for 2 rooms. He said that while the first CM really should have taken a $400 deposit since it is 2 rooms, that they didn't have to change the reservation right now, and that although it's technically required, the fact that it wasn't taken doesn't hurt the reservation; that they will not drop the rooms.

I asked him if I needed to pay it anytime soon and his response was 45 days prior to arrival.

So :confused3 . I'm not going to worry about it right now. He said it was fine and everything was correct on the ressie. Obviously, I'm going to start to pay for the trip within a month or so anyways and they'll surely be getting lots of money from me on just hotel alone.

Just hung up with Disney Travel, and asked about the rest of the package things like tickets/ meal plans and all and was told that nothing will be able to be added until mid september. They are still working out what they want to and do not want to do. They claim they are listening to guests requests and trying to improve to make things perfect, so you can only book rooms through basic package for now until Mid September. They had no info on what they were gonna do with the dining plans but they would have them. Guess just going to have to wait 2 more months to find out what they will be and how much. ugh it's like being on pins and needles waiting to know whether they will bump the price/lower it, or drop things. :bride:

Just to add more confusion over dates, LOL:

I booked a basic package (Poly 4/28 - 5/4) today with AAA, and she gave me a date of August 29th for the full pkgs to be up, can go in any time after that to "upgrade" our basic pkg with what we really want.

Just some more "info", correct or not, who knows??

Sandy

I just called and I was able to switch over from my room only rate to the package rate. It cost me $15 more for 4 nights.

Did anyone say, what you get for just the basic package. He also told me to call back the 1st week of August and the Dining Plan should be available then.

I'm staying at POR-Peak Season for $185 plus tax. Is it 11% or 11.5%?

Just curious if anyone knows this answer..... Now suppose in August you book your full package w/ dining and then they offer free dining for the time you are there, can you get your price reduced (free Dining)????????? :confused3

It's insane how they keep pushing it back. We are going for our honeymoon or should I say Disneymoon. ( Gasp don't flame me this is both our first trip ever to disneyworld). I called the other day and was told they wont have packages ready until mid september. I have the basic done and our airfare done, but would like to get the rest done, and now that my ADR'S are going to need to be made before the packages are even out. It's kind of putting the horse before the cart having to book ADR'S before I can even finish booking the trip. The Disneytravel company CM told me that many people have been calling about it and that they are going to have to announce something soon. I honestly wish they would. First time I booked basic I was told week of july 4th they would have the packages, then any min now, then august, now not till mid to end of september. Ugh the wait is killing me lol. :bride: pirate:
