We are a bit different too. My daughter is starting her third year on a special needs cheer team that is part of the Cheer Central Suns in CO.
This is the website for the Cheer Central Suns:

DD's team cheers in 3 in-state competitions, including state and then this past spring, for the first time, they joined the rest of the gym at Nationals in Anaheim. And they were one of the 4 teams from our gym bringing home a National Title!
And here is a
youtube video of the kids at Nationals:

We have just been told that we will be going to Nationals again this year, but the destination won't be revealed until September. Our gym usually alternates coasts, so with 2007 being in Anaheim, we have our fingers crossed that we will be going to Orlando in March '08. I am so confident that I have already booked the Portofino for a week before the competition
DD loves being part of the Cheer Community and part of the Suns. She took a picture of the back of her National Champion Hoodie and uses it for her screen saver on her cell phone
Although I do have to agree that the wallet is not as happy. With three kids doing almost every kind of sport, cheer has to be one of the most expensive. I never thought anything could be more expensive than horseshowing, but cheer has it topped!
