Hey guys!!
I want to start a new Cheer parent thread!!
for those of you who are new to this, if you have a child who is a cheerleader then you can post their progress, competitions ect... here!!!

I will start!! My DD 11 is on the Gemz!! She is on a Junior level 3 squad. This is her 5th season!! Our official season is starting August. Go GEMZ~~:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

This will be fun I'll join too.

My DKs started practice 2 weeks ago. We do a mini routine at our county fair. We are part of the Just Kickin Starz. DS is in Tiny, he was a filler at teh last competiton last year and had so much fun. So he is going to try the whole season this year. DD7 is in Mini level 2 but we may bump up since one girl got her layout. But I hope we stay level 2 since only one girl can do advanced tumbling.

My girls ages 9 and 10 just did their kickoff barbecue for our local cheer/football teams. They only do one competiion that is a giant stadium nearby. The season last through dec but is fun.

My two DD's 11 and 9 are starting the Pop Warner Season on Monday. They are
on different teams this year, so yeah!!! Two football games per Sunday.

They also cheer for all stars, they had gymnastics classes over the summer but they won't officially re-start all stars until September.

Good luck everyone.

The season hasn't even started and I am down $300. They decided to use a different shoe this year and new warm ups. Plus one needed a new body suit and lollypops.

WHOO HOO!! THis thread is starting strong!! LOVE IT!!

My checkbook doesn't love it so much though.:lmao: It is the competiton fees that will really get me this year. My DD only needed new shoes. Atleast I can get DS whatever uniform wise. Last year I did black windpants and had a t-shirt made. I will most likely do the same this year too.

my daughter did it one year when she was 9, she met her best friend there, and now there 15-16 and shes going to Disney with us for the 5th year in a row. So you also might make some life time friends

I KNOW!!!! Our comp fee's are 775.00 this year!! AND new unifoms!! YIKES!!!!

But like Pop Daddy said they do make life long friends!! And so have I!!
:hippie:

Yeah cheer parents thread!!!! My DD is 5 this is her second year on a mini team Level 2. Our new season starts in September. No new uniform this year just shoes and bows but competition fees were 675.00. Is anyone going to be at NCA in Dallas?

Well I"ll join but my situation is different. I never put DD#1 on any type of competitive cheer squads, although she's danced since age 3. She cheers JV for our local HS. We paid $200 to send her to camp (plus $90 for shoes and various outfits) but that should do it for the year, thank goodness! She may not cheer next year because they are starting a requirement that you need a standing back handspring to cheer varsity. She does not have room in her schedule for gymnastics, and she's almost 5'7" so who knows if she could get that skill at this point. She is a 'base' for the stunting they are allowed to do. She says she'll try out, but if they put her on JV in 11th grade she will quit and concentrate on her other interests such as show choir and plays.
Either way is fine with me. She is finding out there is a lot of politics in cheerleading, and I'm finding out some of the "Texas Cheerleader Mom" types of moms drive me nuts thinking cheerleading is the beginning and end of the universe!

We do a mini routine at our county fair.

Would that be the Huron Co. fair? My DD loves watching the cheer competition at the fair! We have a display set up at the fair for our business so our dd's get a little bored spending so much time at the fair. But cheer day is youngest DD's favorite day! She makes sure I take her over to watch the cheer competition!:cheer2:

Maybe we'll get to see your little kiddos cheer!:thumbsup2

NY mom checking in...My DD is 13 and is in her 2nd year! She in on Jr. level 3. Last year we competed in MD and some of you may have been there!!!

:cheer2: Also.....she was one of those who was selected by AACD to cheer in the NFL Pro-Bowl half time show in Feb '08 in Honolulu!!!! :thumbsup2
Anyone else going??????

Have a safe season everyone and good luck!!

I'm a little freaked myself, Robin. This is dd's first year on the varsity squad (actually, her first year as a cheerleader EVER). She's always been a basketball player and it's a totally different world. We'll see how it goes. I never saw myself as a cheer mom. :lmao: DD is finding out about the politics and we'll see if she sticks with it for her senior year or concentrates solely on basketball next year.

This is great!!! Lots of Dis Cheer people!!! :) :) This will be fun as the season goes on!! We can check in with each other etc....
If you have a website put it on here too!!!
Here is ours

I'll join. My DD7 is at Central Mississippi Cheerleading Soutside she is on the mini squad. Last year they were level 2, but I think we will be a level 1 this year, I am trying to get her on the youth squad, since she has her roundoff backhandspring and if we are a level 1 she won't be able to do that in a routine. Our first competition will be in October at the State Fair. We have been practicing since May and had our camp the week before last.

For those of y'all who saw my post about a month ago, the manager at our gym left and opened his own gym and most of the girls from the squad went there so we have been left with a bunch of new girls, most of whom can't tumble. Not really happy about this, but we didn't go to the other gym because my DDs best friend is at CMC.

We are a bit different too. My daughter is starting her third year on a special needs cheer team that is part of the Cheer Central Suns in CO.

This is the website for the Cheer Central Suns:
www.cheercentralsuns.com

This is a video about the Special Needs Team:

DD's team cheers in 3 in-state competitions, including state and then this past spring, for the first time, they joined the rest of the gym at Nationals in Anaheim. And they were one of the 4 teams from our gym bringing home a National Title! :cheer2:
And here is a youtube video of the kids at Nationals:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-vqA3xy4J8

We have just been told that we will be going to Nationals again this year, but the destination won't be revealed until September. Our gym usually alternates coasts, so with 2007 being in Anaheim, we have our fingers crossed that we will be going to Orlando in March '08. I am so confident that I have already booked the Portofino for a week before the competition :teeth:

DD loves being part of the Cheer Community and part of the Suns. She took a picture of the back of her National Champion Hoodie and uses it for her screen saver on her cell phone :)

Although I do have to agree that the wallet is not as happy. With three kids doing almost every kind of sport, cheer has to be one of the most expensive. I never thought anything could be more expensive than horseshowing, but cheer has it topped!
