20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

Reading the Weather Service website and others, it looks like it is starting to fall apart. I just like the eastward track it appears to be on.

Chuck

It's so funny to watch the different news services put their (pardon the pun) spin on this. One has it as a Cat 3 by mid week affecting the Carolinas but resulting in the evacuation of millions from south Florida all the way to NC. I like the weather channel, a lot less sensational.

I'm really hoping for it to fall completely apart over Cuba and hit southern Florida as a rain storm. I won't relax until eithet that happens or it's out of our way. Plus I've been thinking about the folks on the Wonder right now, due to return Thursday. And the people on the Magic, hopefully Ernesto doesn't go east much an affect the Bahamas.

How long is the ride from CC to Port Canveral I wonder- I mean, if the Wonder is due back in on Th, and the storm is racing thru on Wed, they'd probably have time to be back on Thursday? It will be interesting to see what they end up doing.

So far it looks like whatever it does it will be out of our way for the weekend. I sure hope so!

If memory servers me correctly, they are underway from CC about 1700 and are pulling into the pier at PC about 0630. (If my memory is wrong, I'm sorry it has been about two years since we sailed). They steam about 20+ knots most of the way back. So call it 200 miles or so.

Now if the weather is not so good, they will not even pull into CC and just do circles in the water.

I can tell you this. I've been on four Disney cruises so far, and that last night they HIGHTAIL it into Canaveral. Most of the time you don't even know you are on a ship, but you'll be rocking the night before we arrive home.

Oh, and I forgot to mention yesteday, are there many 7 year olds in our group? I just found out my friend and her daughter who were supposed to be travelling with us have to cancel :sad2: So my son doesn't have his best friend going along anymore. He took it a LOT better than I thought he would- maybe because he still gets to go- but now he has to actually meet kids in the club to hang out with. I reminded him most kids won't know anyone on board either, like his sister, but if I could tell him about someone specific he'll feel better.

thanks,
Courtney

Sorry to hear about the change in your friend's plans. That's great your DS isn't too sad. My DS 7 has seen pictures of everyone and is very excited to meet and play with her new group of friends. :Pinkbounc

Has anyone done the excursion to coral world on St. Thomas? If so, do you have enough time to enjoy Coki beach? We are planning to cab it there and back on our own, but if there is time to wander the beach we may do the excursion.

Only a few more days and we fly out to Orlando! I can already smell the salt air of the ocean as we stroll around the deck.

I finally got the search going and found a topic started by CourtneyMc about Coral world and the same ? I had. Thanks Courtney.

Here's what I gathered from the other topics:

There are lots of cabs waiting to take passengers to their dest. at the dock, just make sure to settle on the fare BEFORE you take your trip. Some are vans and will wait until the van is full before heading out.

Ask the driver when they think you should head back to the ship. Port traffic can be bad in the late afternoon with everyone trying to make it back to the ship.

Doing the DCL excursion does not leave much time for Coki beach.

You will be given a stamp/wristband that will allow you to go back and forth betweeen Coki beach and Coral World.

There are somewhat private, (Shower curtain private.), fresh water showers in Coral world so you can shower before heading back to the ship. Works for me, YAY!

There are lots of cabs waiting to take passengers back to the ship at Coral World.

Check out the tour info. booth at the dock, they may have a free island tour book with a $4.00 off coupon.

This pretty much answers my questions. Now I'm just counting the hours. :yay: :Pinkbounc  :bounce:

Well, it looks like Ernesto will be up above Virginia by Saturday, so for those of us flying in to MCO that day, it looks like we're in the clear. :woohoo:

Morning!

When we sailed in July we were docked by 5:30 at Port Canaveral, same as at Christmas.

Last year when we sailed this same week they had a tug take us into Castaway Cay. It was pretty neat. I am hoping that the Flying Dutchman is okay with all the weather.

Take care!

I can report sunny skies at the pool of Old Key West. The pool slide is in excellent condition. I will check on the weather at the Biergarden a little later. It may be sunny going in, but I forcast it to be foggy coming out.

Yeah, and probably a bit frosty at the Biergarden.

Oh, you're so lucky! Have an extra beer for me! ;)

Holly,

:bday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

:bday:

Lionel

Thank you! It's actually tomorrow because all my tickers came up a day off for some reason. But I'm celebrating a little today! Birthday cards are starting to come in the mail. My little guy colored a picture for me and put stickers all over it and covered it with animal stamps. He says it's my birthday present because I'm the best mom in the world, so I'd have to say that's the best present in the world!

When I picked Tyler up from day care after work yesterday, the teacher told me they had problems with him because he kept jumping up and down all day, talking non-stop all day about the cruise! He was so excited, they had trouble getting him to focus on anything and he really disrupted their whole structure and routine. Yikes! Calm down, boy!

I dont know sounds like mother, like son. You just jump up and down on the boards and talk about the cruise instead of to the people in charge at work. :Pinkbounc

True! Actually, they hear all about it at work too! Everybody there will probably be happy when we finally go so they won't have to hear every day how many days are left! :rotfl:

I made my final decision for our next cruise! While onboard next week, we'll be booking the Nov. 24 Eastern! I know, 2 Easterns in a row....just picking the best date for us. I'm DYING to see the ship all decorated for Christmas! I hear it's absolutely amazing! Now if I can only try to keep it a secret from Tyler so he doesn't bug me every week for 14 MONTHS asking if we're going tomorrow! :rotfl2:

There's already a thread started for that cruise, but anybody in this group joining us that week?

I might go for that. It would be fun to be on during Thanksgiving. As you know, we are already booked on the January 6, 2007 Eastern cruise. If we booked the November 24 cruise, it would be our third bday cruise. The girls bday is during the September 2 cruise (their bday is September 7), my DW's bday will be during the January 2, 2007 cruise, and mine would be during the November 24 cruise. (Don't tell anyone, but I think my DW believes I have gone nuts booking all of our vacations on cruises).

:rotfl2: Don't worry, if that makes you nuts, that means I'm right there with you! I was starting to think I've gone a little crazy with cruises too!

But the Nov 24 cruise is 2 days after Thanksgiving. If I got that wrong, my family will disown me for missing a family get-together!
