20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

Anyone staying at the Hyatt the night before? We are flying via Continental in Newark on the 1:55pm flight on Friday 9/1.

I don't mind posting our names--Lionel, Becky, Rebekah, and Raquel (or Rachael--it depends on her mood). I do have a question about the get together on Saturday. If I recall correctly, we were going to have some "goodies" for the kids. Am I correct? And, if so, is anyone organizing that? And, do they need us to bring anything?
We were going to bring bubbles in our carryon soft sided cooler that might later be packed with margarita making materials, but now that the TSA has new restictions we will not longer be doing so. Maybe we can bring some glowing necklaces. We will be there with bells on!!

I think for sure you're being conned!

Just a request, but would people possibly be willing to post real names with their notes now (or at least if you're going to try to meet us in person)? I'd love to start having a few more names to go with the screen names- or do you want to be refered to as 'tiggerbunny' all week :) If not, that's ok too, it was just a thought.

Actually many members of my family still call me Tigg, it was a childhood nickname. It was my mother’s way of saying I was Tigger like…clumsy, self centered and overly helpful, but still nice. :lmao:

When we got married, Dave (dh) added the bunny and still calls me tiggerbunny…however all of you can feel free to use Robin, but rest assure that I will probably answer to tiggerbunny! :dance3:

Robin & Dave packing as fast as we can!:sail:

I bought one of the those fancy bubble kits, with multiple guns that I thought I would bring to the party.

Since we are driving, we can get anything...any ideas??

have a few questions of the DCL veterans.

Someone (maybe it was Courtney) said they were bringing their two way radios. Do those work well? Will they work in the various ports? We have only used ours at local festivals. Since we now both have cell phones, it was easier to just call but with no service….

I forgot about the Palo reservations till it was almost too late on the 90th day. The only thing I could get was dinner the first night at 730. I really hate this…I want to meet our table mates. Will I still be able to make the early show and Palo? I want to get nice table mates and if we aren’t there the first night we will be assigned to the wackos everyone else complains about on the cruise board? We won’t get to the ship until 2 - do you think I can get different Palo reservations that late? The only thing I really want to try is the soufflé. Can I just order that from the Palo bar?? :dance3:

We are having a cake brought the second night (formal) night to celebrate Dave’s birthday and the third night to honor our 20th anniversary. Have I crammed all the wrong things on all the wrong days :confused3

By the way, Good Job to all you guys who are praising your wives for the packing! But, did you ever think that she forgot those items on purpose so that it would inspire you to pack for yourselves???? I say this as our official packer. I love the whole process though...and have over limited our weights so now weigh them on a scale ahead of time. I am not obsessive compulsive till it comes to packing.
I am beginning to think of delegating some of the responsibilty so that the kids will learn what it takes. Someday!

Our kids pack their own - have been for a couple of years now. My DW just checks it before doing the final zipper. As for me - she dresses me so it only makes sense she pack for me.

So, did either of you get any grief from your daughters about missing sporting events while on the cruise because I got a little. While the girls are really excited about going on the cruise, they are missing a figure skating competition on the Sunday before Labor Day. They both started about a year ago, and have now been in 3 competitions and are quickly progressing toward freestyle level. They love the DCL, but are kind of disappointed about missing a competition with most of their friends entering.

Since I missed our last vacation in early July because they were a competition in Augusta, I told them I would miss the cruise only if US Figure Skating called, said they could skip all of the tests, elevated them to Juvenile Freestyle and that they are going to the Nationals, but they have to skip the cruise for all of this to take effect. I got the obigatory groan (in stereo) and no further grief about missing one skating competition.

We did not get any grief from our DD. But the coach was not too trilled. She will only miss 1 game though. And about 3 practices. I told the coach I would have her get up early and work out. Can't see that happening.

With respect to the Palo reservations, I can try to make the reservations for you if DCL will let me. I had to call the Radisson today to get us on the 10 am shuttle to appease by DD's yearning to try to be one of the first on the ship. Therefore, we should have plenty of time to go try to make the reservations. PM me the dates and times you might want to go in order of priority.

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the late posting on this. We will be a family of 3 (myself, DH, & DS9) on deck 7. Is it too late to email someone a pic of us so it can be posted for you all? I'd love to meet up with the Dis group (I hear at 2:30pm at the Promenade lounge but what day again is this? the first day-Sat?).
I am packing like crazy already (just got all the pirate costumes sewed and accessories bought today). We will be doing 5 days land before the cruise happens.
Question, what time is best to be at the boat by? I have not been able to make Palo reservations (tried and tried for over 2 months online!) and would hope there is still a chance since we are celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary.
This will be our very first time cruising! I can't wait! Talk to you all soon! We have 7 days left!!!!! Wooooooohoooooooo! :Pinkbounc

I'm from that "other board". I hope I won't be made to walk the plank for posting here! From Indiana, taking on this cruise besides myself, my husband, 4 kids (10,8,6,4), my mother in law and her boyfriend. Deck 2 (side by side cabins) and this is our first Disney cruie although we've taken several other cruises.
Getting very excited!!!!

Welcome! I would try to get there as early as you can (betw 10-11 if that's possible) so you can board early and go straight to where you make Palo ressies. That will be listed in your navigator you'll get when you check in. Since it's such a special occasion, I really hope you get the night you want!

Everyone else with Palo questions- I've seen plenty of people say they have been able to get the Palo ressies they want when they boarded. It sounds like they only release part of the total ressies to book online in advance so if you get over there early you can still get ressies. And, you can always get on the wait list and see if something opens up.

Oh, and someone asked about souffle from the bar at Palo, I can't say from personal experience but I've read that you can do that.

You are a wise soul to jump over from the dark side :cool1: Ok, just kidding, I'm sure the other board is very nice. We're just a wild and crazy over excited bunch! You'll have to check with our official leader, Capt. Blue about walking the plank... pirate:

Another 4 year old, yea! Maggie and Tyler are going to make tons of new friends! Right, Holly?

Hi Zcrew. Princess Beth will have to meet Princess Maggie (also 4). There seems to be a pretty good crowd of the 3-4 set on this board. Yea!

-Courtney
That would be great. We haven't told our little princess yet, but I know she will be excited. DW and I are a little concerned that she will want to cling to us instead of hook up with some DD's and DS's. This will be her first cruse and sometimes she has a tendancy to by super shy, but she usually perks up especially if meeting Princess Aurora or Minnie Mouse is on the agenda. What is your or anyone else's experience with kids of this age on the cruise? Do they still offer "kid food" if they will not eat what is on the menu? Also, how is the Oceaner's Club? :thumbsup2

Welcome. Your 10 year will be in the club with my DDs (they are 12). The girls have been on the cruise in 2001 and 2005. In 2005, they spent most of their time at the club. They loved it. And, they are planning on going the very first night and every day after.

Welcome!!! We have a DS10 and DS5 - :thumbsup2 I went to school, lived, and worked, in Indiana for several years, we have side by side cabins on deck 1, and this is our first disney cruise. I'm glad you've seen the light and joined us :)

Good morning and Happy Monday!! :cool1: Only 12 more days until we sail the ocean blue. :sail:

Wow - you guys have been busy bees on the weekend. I went shopping this weekend with my mom for more STUFF pirate: and logged back on this morning and just spent the last 40 minutes reading what I've missed.

WOW!! We have a LEADER!?!?.....all hail Capt. Blue :worship:

Welcome to all the new crew members! :welcome: I am glad there are more kids. Maria - age 7 and Anthony - age 3 will be glad, too. They are so excited that we are getting closer. :bounce:

I am hoping to start packing this weekend, but we'll see how that goes. I start back to work on Wednesday and the kids go back to school next Monday. So at this time, we are all preparing for that as well. Since I am missing a week of work, I have to also make lessons for those days so my high school students can continue their studies. :teacher:

Well - I'm off to search for more STUFF.

Hi everyone: I posted a bit a few months ago, then got busy, so have not been a regular poster. I hope it's okay if I join back in! On this cruise it will be myself, DH, DD11, DD6, DS4 and my mom and dad. We are very excited. We leave Friday for a week at the parks before the cruise. We are a little concerned because we are flying Northwest and that's the day the Flight Attendants are going to start their work disruptions.

We sailed on our first cruise in Oct 2005. We had so much fun, we decided to do it again! Our DD's are missing the first 4 days of school which probably isn't the greatest, but that's the way things ended up working out.

We are down on Deck 2, in connecting cabins. This is the same arrangement we had in Oct and it worked out great.
