I don't have a 2006, but I do have a 2003 and I love it! No problems at all mechanically- a few cosmetic issues in the first year (loose weather stripping and some peeling paint on the plastic parts of the chassis) that were under warrenty and taken care of promptly.

I don't have a 2006, but I love my 2002 Santa Fe. No mechanical issues at 56000 miles. Our only problem has been cosmetic...DH backed into a wall on our way to WDW a few months after we purchased it. I'll drive this car until it dies, and then will purchase another one (or downsize a bit to the Tuscon).

I had a 2001 -- until january when an 81 year old man made a left turn directly into my path.
Even though I t-boned him only the front of the vehicle was shot.
It was totaled because the airbags deployed and the seatbelts locked up.

BUT we replaced it with a 2005 Santa Fe (in January).

If we had not liked our first so much, we would not have bought a second.

Dh also bough a Sonata a few years ago.

We were Ford and Honda owners before buying a Hyundai.

Our car insurance actually went quite a bit lower from owning the 2005 Santa Fe over the 2001. (Four air bags and better security system.)
