2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006

I gotta say I am getting a little irked. 38 days out from the big calling day and we have no idea how much or how many points.... Since I am paying mostly cash... maybe some points, I will need a big chunk of change availible on Dec 3rd. I would like to know how much. LOL

I tried looking up last year to see when DVC gave us the price point, but cant find it.... anyone know?

Ok... off to call MS and get all my points in a row, see what I can use for the trip, and go from there.

A friend of mine from work who went on the 2005 Member cruise, made some notes for me to give me an idea. She videocopied it (some of the numbers got cut off), and this is what I see :
cat 12 standard inside : 90 points or $688
cat 11 standard inside: 90 points or $688
cat 10 deluxe inside: 115 points or $782
cat 9 deluxe ocean : 123 points or $834
cat 8 deluxe ocean: 139 points or $938
cat 7 Nav verandah: 150 points or $1,000
cat 6 verandah : 158 points or $1,058 (hope this is right...got cut off)
cat 5 verandah: 166 points or $1,110
cat 4 Family verandah: 200 points or $1,318
cat 3 One bedroom: 341 points or $2,217

additional passengers :
3rd/4th adult (13 and over) : 68 points or $458
3rd/4th child (3-12) : 57 points or $406
3rd/4th child (2 and under): 20 points or $196

Sorry Maria, what I ment was.. when did DVC let us know the above information... or how far in advance did they release the cost, not just the cost themselves.

When we did our last Disney Cruise, we didn't book onboard, but several weeks later called and spoke to a DVC rep about booking using points for a future cruise. The person I spoke to said that if we called within 3 days of the 11 month window of the departure date of the cruise, we would be eligible for a Castaway Club discount. She quoted me the rates, and they were a good bit cheaper. Do they do a CC discount for Member Cruises?

Being that this cruise is a charter, and we're booking it with Disney Vacation Club, not Disney Cruise Line, I don't expect any Cruise Line discounts will be applicable.

And that's something to mention for anyone who may have missed this, you can only book this thru DVC on December 3rd.

Don't worry, Mark wasn't telling me something that I didn't already know. December 3rd is already marked on my calendar. I know it isn't within 3 days of the 11 month window of cruise, but I was just curious as to whether there are Castaway Club discounts. I guess it would be foolish for them to do that since probably 90% of the ship is probably filled with repeat cruisers.

If they had allowed onboard booking for this cruise I think they would have sold out by those of us on the 2005 cruise.

Hi all!
DH and I just returned from WDW on Monday. Our plane took off at noon, so we felt some of the wind from Wilma. (What is it about me taking trips to WDW and hurricanes this year?) Other than that, we had a great time. Stayed at VWL for 8 days, our longest trip there ever!

This is off topic, but I also wanted to ask you folks to keep my DD in your thoughts on Sunday. She had her interview for the college program today, and is going to audition on Sunday in hopes of getting a placement in character work. There are other areas that she is willing to work (her top 4 were: character, character ***'t, merchandise, and hospitality) but it would be a dream come true for her to be able to make some child smile as a character.

I keep working on DH to give in and just say "yes" to the cruise. Our financial situation is a little tight right now, but when I mentioned that we could pay for at least one of us with points, he seemed more receptive. I'm sure we'll make a decision whenever the points charts come out!

Being sick for long has cause me to think way way way too much about all this... SORRY!

I have a question for those who have booked this before...

Do they secure your room request with DCL and then sort out payment details (IE points VS Cash VS both) or do you have to let them know how your paying for each person before they talk to DCL?

I am trying for a Cat. 3 (if offered... oh when oh when will those charts be out) and would like to split it cash and points BUT is that will take more time before the room is secured, I will just pay cash, to get things moving along.... DOes that make sense?? Plus if Cat 3's are not offered, we want 2 connecting 4's and there are not very many of those...

Any and all tips are welcome (PM's too!) There are only FOUR Cat. 3's for our family of 5 so my odds are really bad LOL I would love to know the order of things once they answer the phone... it would really help me get everything in order on my end.... FREAKING!!! lol Do they ask you ALL of your room choices before contacting DCL?? What if there is a hold up on DCL's end... Can you tell I am freaking??? Maybe I should hope they dont offer 3's.... that would take a lot of the pressure off.... I would try for connecting 4's right off the bat, followed by connecting 6's...
