Congratulations to Walker for wanting to read! This is Fantastic! I hope that he is able to find many interesting things in the newfound world of books.

Woo Hoo Walker!!!! Way to go.

Has he read any of the Magic Tree House Series by Mary Pope Osborne?
Nick Loves those books. Even thought they are now below his reading abilities he loves the series so much he has to have the new book whenever they come out. The last one he picked up he read the whole thing in like an hour.
My boy is a little different. Rather then ask to go to the toy store he wants to go to the book store.

My DS Ben (yes he is 7) LOVES the Magic Tree House Series too. We went to Borders last weekend and bought him another one, he had to line up all the ones we have so he can figure out what he is missing. He has also been bringing home a MTH book from the school library every week. My impression is that they won't have time to read on the cruise - do they have books in the Oceaneer lab and club?

MOVIE CHALLENGE #4
Many more of these and we'll start to sound like a Rocky Movie. (Friday the 13th is up to #20 so we have a ways to go...:rotfl:)

The Rules:

(1) The pic will be posted on odd numbered days (since it was aptly pointed out that we are all a little odd) sometime before NOON. Several DisSers have expressed interest but are prohibited from checking in at work so I MIGHT post it early, just depends if I am working and/or awake....

(2) NO HINTS.

(3) The first DisSer to post the correct answer wins.

(4) Limit one guess per screen name per day.

FOR MARY
Yes I know this is an even numbered day. I'll pick up from here on the uncovering. I just don't feel like staying up till midnight.:lmao:

Ok 4hrs was the last one. Lets see you get this...

OK, I'm going for the old obscure idea - Flipper?

Hope all the Jewish Disers had an easy fast.
Thanks Cheryl. It actually wasn't bad, and by the time services were over (26+ hours after starting the fast) I really wasn't that hungry. :confused3

How are you feeling?

Excuse me while I brag a moment!

Walker has strugged with reading and phonics for as long as I can remember. We've been working with a tutor to try and get him up to speed but not with much luck. Walker will work math problems until there is no end, but usually all I have to do is mention the word reading to him, and he gets antsy and finds 1000 excuses to to why we should do something else.

We've read to our kids since they were babies and both of them would sit all night long listening to us read to them. But, with Walker, it's been like pulling teeth to get him to read.

So, tonight he brings home a form for required reading for the month of October. He needs to read 10 books minimum, 20 books for extra credit. So, here I am, thinking, we'll struggle through 1 book and call it a night.

:cheer2: Three books later, Walker is torn between continuing to read or going with Cameron to Boy Scouts so he can sit with Gary in the hallway and read his Tiger Cub book. I can't believe my eyes or my ears....Walker read all three with very little help from me. These were new books that he hasn't tried to read before and more importantly, books we haven't read to him. I don't know what his teachers have done with him at school, but this turn around today is amazing!

Parent/Teacher conferences are Thursday night ---- you can bet this will be a positive discussion between me & his teachers. I just might shoot them an email right now while it's fresh in my mind and they can hear my excitement!

In the end, Walker chose to go with Cameron & Gary, so now the house is quiet. Time for me to spruce up the place before the hustle and bustle of nighttime routine & morning comes.
:cheer2: Way to go Walker! :cheer2:

That's fantastic that he read so much today. Kudos to his teacher for whatever encouragement they gave to get him going.

I was going to say Finding Nemo, too. But it looks like several have already guessed that.

:cool1: Tina, Congrats on getting the Top of Page 1300!!! :cool1:

Wow, I can't believe we have that many pages here, and less than 500 posts to go to get to the 20K mark. We'll get there before the weekend at this rate!

Just wanted to drop a hello from Southern California. Marc and I are REALLY looking forward to this cruise. We've popped in to visit this thread ever since the phone-call derby began last year. It was from the thread that we noted we could call the 407 number instead of the toll-free number, and "poof" we were in!

It's been fun doing the drop-in-read-and-dash-back-out viewing, but I thought it was time to at least say hello to y'all! Looking forward to a flight on the 21st, a night at the Hyatt, and then 4 WONDERful days at sea.

Wishing all well!

Michael (and Marc!)
Welcome Michael and Marc. We're looking forward to meeting y'all! :sail:

I would have been faster with my response, too, but we were still in Yom Kippur services when you posted this challenge. Oh well, maybe next time. ;)

(Ian and I have been watching this movie a lot lately so it was a no-brainer for me.)

Randy - never fear - all will be included in the Navigator you will get with your buttons. However since I know we have lots of planners in this group here is the run down. Also once the navigator is finished I will save it as a word document for anyone who wants to print it out ahead of time.

Saturday 10/21 - 3pm DIS meet at the Solarium in the Beach Club. At this meet you can pick up your button packets, kids gifts, and those of us in the circle journal exchange will also do our swap. We have a few other surprises as well.

Sunday 10/22 - if you have signed up for the DIS party bus we are meeting outside the main enterance of Beach club at 8:30. Please be prompt so the bus can leave on time.

Sunday 10/22 - DCL terminal. Amy is brining the DIS meet sign so look for the DIS group over by the sofa's. A great time to gather and chat before boarding.

Sunday 10/22 - Deck 10 mid-ship (above the Goofy pool) at 3pm. We will be on the same side as the port (not to be confused by the port side). :) If it is raining go to deck 9 same location. At this meet you can pick up your button packets and kid gifts and maybe a few other surprises.

Monday 10/23 - the group has agreed to meet up at the far end of the family beach. So if you want to sit and play among other DISers head down there.

Monday 10/23 - if you signed up for the DIS banana boats today is the day. Ladies boat leaves at 1 pm, mens at 1:30 pm

Tuesday 10/24 - Julie's ladies meet at 9:30 pm up on deck 9 by the adult pool!

Tuesday 10/24 - Matt's guys meet at 9:30 pm in Diversions

Wednesday 10/25 - the group has agreed to meet up at the far end of the family beach. So if you want to sit and play among other DISers head down there.

Thursday 10/26 - for those taking the party bus back to Beach Club. Meet up in the Promonade Lounge after breakfast.

Thursday 10/26 - for those attending MNSSHP there will be a short DIS meet at 6:30 pm at the Liberty Bell. This is right before the party starts at 7 pm.

Friday 10/27 - for those who signed up ahead of time we will meet at the Contemporary dock at 8:00 pm for the Wishes fireworks cruise.

Saturday 10/28 - not a DIS meet but a very special DIS day as Matt & Julie exchange wedding vows.
Mary, it is a fantastic thing you have done. Thank you! Mark, I know you've really been busy with everything too. Thanks for making our trip more spectacular. I know there are many here who are involved in many of the aspects of planning for all of us. Thanks to you. I can't begin to list everyone for fear of leaving out someone. You are truly appreciated, everyone!

I could have sworn I saw a Castaway Cay Island Cruise listed--but it's no longer a choice.
Is there such a thing, and if so how can I get wait-listed for it?

Sounds like a great time!

Do your Scouts have these? www.minutepiemold.com My dad actually makes them and he sells them to lots of Scout troups.
Those are the most fun things to have while camping. We've used them at picnics too. Lots can be made with those things.

Thanks for all the greetings! We will definitely make our way to Deck 10 for the meet and if that's where the walking group is gathering we'll see you there as well!

This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. The first was last January where we met up with fellow DISers for an evening table of 18. Marc is hoping to enjoy it a bit more this time around as he somehow threw his back out as we flew cross country and spent more time in the cabin writhing in pain than doing much of anything else. I think I got the blame as we were carrying some hefty bottles of wine to share and I may have packed my carry-on a bit lighter....

Anyhoo, with the restrictions on what to put in your carry-on that appears NOT to be a problem this time around. I'll just have to peruse that wine list a bit more!

Pirate costumes are packed, boxed, and ready to be shipped. Oh yeah... we are REALLY looking forward to this vacation!

Michael
