Thank you all for the warm welcome. We are looking forward to meeting everyone.
Good luck to all worried over possible job losses, our prayera are with you.

I am sorry to hear that the pending issues at Ford (and possibly GM) are going to impact our SSMC06 family. Prayers to all of you!

We have a Ford Explorer and I love love love it - and in TX they don't come standard with 4wd (weird) but you can buy them that way if you want. I don't know if we will ever go for a minivan, but I would buy another SUV.

I'll play

1) What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.) I have already started packing all the stuff we don't need on a regular basis. I will continue to do so over the next several weeks. Then at the last minute, I'll be in a panic and I'm sure Gary will finish up.

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals? Besides cleaning the house like the other nut cases on this thread, for fear that the firefighters might actually notice the dirt under the debre from a fire? Nope. :rotfl2:

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location? Deck 6, same room as last cruise. We are mid-ship right off the elevator. I love being able to find my room when I'm lost in the hallways. It helps that I know it's right around the elevator. I found the hallways a bit long and intimidating some times.

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice? Category 6. Same room as last year, because I enjoyed the location and we wanted a verandah.

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? OKW. The only time we stayed there was when Walker was sick and we had driven down. We were afraid to drive home until he was a bit better so we stayed just one night at OKW. I'm hoping this will be a better experience.

Thanks for all the Bon Voyage's. Gail & John should be arriving at Metro Airport as I type. We will be leaving around 3pm and arriving in Orlando just in time for rush hour.

Prayers for all those with pending job losses. We just went through that earlier this year. DH went in to work one am and by noon had been told his job was being eliminated in 30 days. No forewarning, so it was a complete shock. He has since found a job, but unfortunately less pay. Because of the job change we had to cancel the Member's Cruise. Didn't think it would sound too good to ask for 2 weeks off in September for a cruise and another week off in October for a cruise. Gee, jobs sure do get in the way of having fun. We do plan on being in Orlando when you all return. Gotta hear all the great stories from those who will be staying in Orlando for the weekend after your cruise.

Well back to the final packing before dh comes home to pack the car. Stopped at Krispy Kreme already and got Gail some donuts (well some for me too!)

Carol

Nice to see you posting here, Carol.

Have a great time. 11 days, I'm sure it's going to be a blast!!

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you to join us on this cruise. Maybe we'll see you after were back.

1) What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.) We usually talk about packing the week before and don't do it until the night before. The morning we leave I am running around the house trying to remember everything. :rotfl2:

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals? I am another cleaner thanks to all the moms at the gym. A few years ago they were all talking about cleaning before trips and I started feeling guilty because I never worried about it before then. I do like comming home to a clean house now.

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location? Deck 6, we are off the midship elevators too. I think this will work great for the kids clubs

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice? Category 6. I really liked having a verandah last year so we went with one this year. Last year Tom booked the cruise as a surprise and when he finally got through all that was left was cat 4 so he took it. I think I am now addicted to having a verandah.

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? BCV before and after the cruise. We were planning on staying at the port because our flight was not supposed to get in until late Sat. We changed our flight to the AM when we found out the girls didn't have a gym meet that day. I called about 1 month ago and Beach Club was the only place that had a 1 BDR. There were no studios available anywhere for Sat night

We have a few friends that work at Ford and are facing loosing their jobs. I just feel so sorry for everyone. I can't imagine what they are going through. I hope it works out for all.

I just love Ian's new pictures. He is so cute and getting big. :sunny:

:welcome: IWantMyDVC. We are on the bus too and can't wait.

Curt I really hope the Tigers turn this around or maybe Karen won't have to worry about watching any games on the cruise.

Julie I can't imagine what you have to pack. Are you just going to bring everything you own? I think that would be easier. :rotfl2:

No minivan here either. I really love my SUV and hope the gas prices keep going down. They were $2.14 here yesterday.

The dining poll is officially closed.

We now have 91 of us who are going to be linked for early seating. :cheer2: Can you say party:

Voting came in like this:

Option #1 -- 5:30 -- 1 vote - Stacy (the lone vote here ;) )
Option #2 -- 5:45 -- 7 votes - Jeff, Cheryl, Roxann, MaryJ, Erin, Steve & Robin
Option #3 -- 6:00 --11 votes - Kevin, Gail, Mary/Mark, Diana, Julie, Chris, Amy, AnnMarie, Ilene, Romandel and Curt (don't read the thread, it will look different for Curt's vote)
Option #4 -- do not care -- 5 votes - Janet, Marla, Mary (iluvdisney), Lily & Chris (conleyfamily)

So, I am going to send the paperwork off to DCL request option #3 as that's where the majority of votes were placed.

Again, I can only request this rotation, we will not know for certain where we end up until we get on the ship.

:tink: I hope this works out for our group.

$2.14!!! I think I'd get out of my car and do a little dance around the car if I pulled into the pump and it was $2.14!! It's 2.77 here and that was exciting to me.

Funny out of the mouths of babes story--I have a really bad habit of running the gas tank just about dry. It's not the price of gas, I've always been this way. Living way upstate in college my gas tank would freeze frequently because it was always so empty. So we were driving home from dancing school yesterday and DING DING DING from the backseat Emma says--ut oh Mommy, time to get some gas. When my 3 year old recognizes the low fuel indicator, it's time for me to change my bad habit!

Oh man--is he cheating again??

LOL yes it would be! I have a table full upstairs of things that have to be shipped (bridal party gifts, welcome bags etc,) or that have to fly in with us (toasting flutes - we flew them home from Disney in July, memorial candle etc). I think packing the house would be better!

So Curt CHEATED AGAIN???

Curt, you best remember this is I ever need a ::cop: ! I'm going out on a limb here for you, buddy!

Nope, Curt didn't cheat (believe it or not :scratchin ).

Curt politely PM'd me with the information that he checked with Karen and Karen preferred a different rotation than the one he selected here. So, being a smart man, Curt let Karen's vote override his own.

Cute story, Diana.

I'm with you. $2.14 sounds like a great deal. I wonder if it would be worth a trip up to Michigan to fill up? Probably not with my gas guzzler!! It would definately not be to my advantage.

Prices around us are in the $2.80's. I think tops last summer, we were paying about $3.25 a gallon.
