Whew. Good to know. :)
knock on wood, we've never had a fire. That's one of my fears though.....to come home from a trip and find the house burnt down. I don't obsess about it, but everytime I turn onto the cross street near my house all of a sudden I think "I hope the house didn't burn down."

I remember we talked about this last year, but that's one of my fears as well. When I leave for vacation, I totally clean the entire house, for fear that there will be a fire and the firefighters will come in and see that I've left a mess. Like somehow, in the ashes, they'll find dust. I realize that's the dumbest thing ever, but it's something I do. And I turn the corner every time we get home and expect to find the house gone. :confused3

Why is that?

Because I have the same fear.

And, if it's not that one, it's the one that something happens to me and someone other than the 4 of us come into the house and see it dirty. Which is why I always have to clean before going on vacation. In all actuality, if something did happen to us, I don't think we'd really care.

ETA: Diana's crazy thought process too! :rotfl2: Anyone else want to join the club?

A thought just crossed my mind - do you think it's possible that it was Karen who moved all the magnets you made for others to my door ;)

That must be it, Gail. As I know when I put them there and it was early in the day --- before any of the drinks of the day were offered :drinking: :rotfl2:

That's funny because in our house, she's "the lady who screamed something about my lime green crocs across the giant crowd at MGM on the way to the Stunt Show and made everyone look". :rotfl2:

Well, then, I'll add that in our house, it's the lady we ran into at the airport shopping for shoes while we were stuck there for 6 hours and not only did she follow behind us to the airport, her plane took off and landed in Michigan before ours even left the ground in Orlando.

Congratulations, Robin.

14,000 posts -- that sure is a lot of :chat: :chat: :chat:

I'm definately in that club as well. I always have a lump in my throat as we turn the corner and look to see if the house is still standing.

I'm so glad that I have friends just as quirky as I am!

We are a strange group, aren't we. I like Janet's way of thinking maybe I need to adopt that train of thought more frequently.

The compulsive, I'm afraid of what I'll find when I get home club.

I always feel it's wonderful to go away, but it's just as wonderful to come home. There is something in the saying "There's no place like home" where ever that may be. It usually only lasts about 5 minutes, and then I'm ready to go again, but home is home.

Cindy - I totally agree that after a vacation no matter how much fun we've had that it is always great to be home. Of course that wears off the next day when there is no breakfast buffet to go to and no one to come in and make the bed or leave you a towel animal. :)

Ok, I'm catching up again!!!

Favorite pig out food: Hmmm, tough one! Probably mexican food! Chips, salsa, guacamole
Nickname: Aim, Aimers
Favorite Childhood memory: Trips to Brookfield Zoo with my family
Personal heroes: My mom - she was a single mom and always worked hard to make sure that our lives were better than hers
I've never been able to: Whistle very well
If I could do it over,I'd: kept with my major in college (pre-law)
I'd give anything to meet (& why): My great-grandmother - she died when I was only 5, but we had a special relationship
If I could change one thing about myself: My weight
People who knew me in High School thought I was: friendly
My most irrational act: My ex-fiance - he was just not a nice guy
If I've learned one thing in life it's: to be nice to everyone, and most will be nice back
Major accomplishment: Finishing college & graduate school - I'm the first in my extended family to ever go to college
The three words that best describe me: friendly, kind, Switzerland

Only 273 posts needed to overtake the 2005 Member Cruise thread. I think we can do it this MONTH if we try. :lmao:

Favorite pig out food: Chicken Wings--the hotter, the better!

I've never been able to: Stop biting my nails.

Ok, I'm with you on these 2.

The three words that best describe me: Organized (some people call it OCD, I prefer organized), Generous, Dependable
But definitely not with you on the Organized thing. I try to be, but it never turns out that way.

Another counter note. At one point we talked about getting to 20,000 posts before we sail. We have 53 days left so to reach that goal we would have to post 112 posts per day. I know this group is chatty but are we that chatty?

I have the EXACT same fear!! We turn into our neighborhood (we live in the back) and the rest of the short ride to our house, I think, "is the house still standing?"

Ok, I think that we did talk about this last year!

Chris gives me a hard time about trying to clean up before we leave. He always says that the mess will still be here when we get back. When we were growing up, and we leaving town, mom always used to clean because she said that she didn't want to come back to a messy house, along with putting everything away and all the laundry. Sometimes, I don't get everything as clean as I want, but I do try. Plus, I want to make sure that the neighbor bringing in our mail won't be overwhelmed by the mess.

Sounds like me. I had ALL my dance costumes in my closet for years after I quit taking lessons. It wasn't until we were clearing out the house after my father passed away that I finally got rid of most of them. For posterity's sake, I kept a few. (Came back to haunt me at our rehearsal dinner though.)
I don't have dance costumes, but I do admit that I have my sorority letter shirts and fraternity little sister shirts still in the bottom of my dresser.

How's the organizing going? I'm both anticipating and dreading the completion of my new scrapbooking room. I have so much stuff that I fear I'll just move my mess from one place to another instead of really getting everything put away into a proper place.
I'm still working on it!! Whew, it's a HUGE project. I've found SO many things that I am getting rid of, like old papers that are SO out of date. But, luckily, my MIL has been scrapbooking with Emily, so I'm going to send all my old stuff to my MILs this weekend, when Emily spends the weekend with her. Then, Emily can go to town with her grandma and scrapbook.

I found it helps to go to Home Depot pick up all those paint chips come home and hang them on the wall. Through out the day and evening when I see one that I just don't like it gets taken down. The last one on the wall is the color I pick.

Ok, it didn't happen that way with the last room - I put all these yellow gold, orange gold color chips up, looked at them for weeks. I came up with my last one standing, went to Home Depot and came home with the teal color :rotfl:
At least you got to pick some color! When deciding on the color for our office, Chris didn't really want color, so I have a very light yellow/cream for our office walls. It's kinda boring, but it does keep it pretty light in here, since we only have one very small window in here.

I will GLADLY continue adding to your addiction too!

You can add our family to that Hooters addiction too. It's actually one of Emily's very favorite places to eat. It's pretty funny when we go into Hooters and the servers always say how the girls have gotten SO big. They've pretty much seen Madison grow up, since it opened when she was just a baby. And, it's only about a mile or so away, so it's always an option when I'm too lazy to cook.
