Just wanted to give an update on our storm repairs. Not only did the storm get our wireless router, but it also fried the phones in our kitchen and family room. The kitchen phone was cordless with two additional base stations, so of course those won't work either. Our Tivo was plugged into the same jack as the family room phone, so the phone repairman said that at least the telephone portion of the Tivo is probably shot too. Recently I started updating the Tivo wirelessly through the internet, but since the internet router is out until I get a new one, I'm up the creek. Thankfully shows that I want to record for the next week are all ready in the queue. The poor phone repairmen were here from about 9:30 until after 5:00!

We also noticed just today that the lightning must have jumped from the phone line to our pecan tree. You can see where a lot of bark is off the tree near the phone line to our house. The lightning spiraled up the trunk of the tree from that point.

Now I know why people say you shouldn't talk on the phone during a thunderstorm!! :scared1:

I'm so sorry to hear about how much damage you had. I had lightning damage to my computer and a bunch of other household stuff twice in a month's a few years back. I know what a headache it is.

There have been so many terrible storms lately. I just got off the phone with my Dad and he said that 4 kids in the town over from him were playing soccer yesterday and got struck, 2 were killed. :guilty:

Yes. I think you can be a FL resident w/out a season pass and still be eligible to get one, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
Yes, you're right, you can be just a FL resident to get a DDE card. Actually, it started that you had to be a FL resident to get one.

YIKES!! And, they talk about FL being the lightning capital of the world! I guess not!

Anyone planning on being in DVC chat tonight. I should be there.

Mary J - sorry to hear about all your problems with the phones etc.

Sandy - I see Diana and Amy already answered your DDE question.

I may stop into chat for a few minutes but am exhausted from the trip to Philly this weekend. We may be going back again next weekend too! I really hope I can make my reservations in the morning!

I've been online looking at excursions and so I noticed the eco-tour and wondered what kind of water craft you "drive". I can't kayak due to my neck and arm pain so I wondered if these might be like the water "mice" or somehow motorized. Has anyone done this?

Ilene - the eco tour is on jet skis. We did it in May and had a great time. The only thing is you have to get on and off it from the water. I had a hard time of it (and made a bit of fool of myself but still had fun). So it is a great tour and if you are good at pulling yourself up on a jet ski from the water you will be fine. :)

is there a chat tonight and how do I get there...sheesh I'm high maintenance today!

Photo Gallery Update!

Erin (crzy4dals) send me a picture of her family. Come and meet them!

PS - Ilene I see you found us in chat!

Heading off to bed - good luck everyone on your booking!

Oh my goodness Mary! I didn't even think about how I would get on the jet ski! Now I'm not sure if I want to do it or not! Annmarie

OK before I scare everyone off of the excursion - I'm very very pooh sized and not the most athletic person is the world. The guys who ran it were great and very patient with me. If you really want to do it go for it. If I can do it anyone can. :)

Tom just told me not to be a baby and give it a try. Worst that can happen is I make a fool of myself in front of my DISfriends! BTW - do I need to sign up for a specific time for the Eco Tour?

Annmarie - yes I believe it is every hour.

I found that laughing at myself put everyone else at ease and they and I had a great time. I'm really glad I did it!

I'm going to try and sign up for the 10:30 on wednesday. If you want to see someone having a hard time climbing up--book at that time and just watch me! :lmao:

When we were up north a few weeks ago, one of the guys had a jet ski up there. One of the other guys took his son out on it and they both ended up in the water. Watching them trying to get back up on it in the deep water was a sight. Yep, we were having a good time laughing. From the dock they didn't have problem, but from the water was a different story. So you are in good company with having a hard time getting on them. Of course, I couldn't be their source of entertainment because it was just a week after my surgery. :teeth:

Well, you can bet that it's going to be an absolute riot if I fall off that Banana Boat!!!

I'm thinking if one of us falls off, the rest will end up falling off from laughing so hard. I think Life Guard Julie will have her hands full with all of us :rotfl:

Well, I better get to bed, so that I can wake up in 3 hours for those ressies.:surfweb:
