Good Morning :surfweb:

Last morning for us as we all stayed up late last night watching Jaws & Jaws, the Revenge. Probably not the best choice since we're off to Hilton Head and the beach in just a couple of weeks. :scared: I never go in the ocean, so I know I don't have to worry but the kids & Gary enjoy it. I do know that large sharks around Hilton Head are not very common so I'm hoping by the time we're there, we'll all have forgotten what we just saw.

Gary's off to work this morning to anxiously pass along the oncall equipment.

Walker & I went over to the mall yesterday afternoon while Gary & Cameron went to see the White Sox World Champion trophy. Dinner out last night at Famous Daves -- terrible service. Corners in a restaurant our not our thing.

Cheryl, Turf Club sounds great. We'll have to try it sometime.

Mary, hope you are feeling better today.

Ilene, sometimes you have to do what you feel is right and give the doctors a bit of a push. It seems like you have been in pain for a long time. Hopefully this week will be a decision week for you.

Ilene I hope you get some good news this week. If you do need the surgery I hope they do it soon and just get it over and get you feeling better.

Cheryl great reviews and pictures. We might have to check it out in a few weeks. :thumbsup2

Roxann we are also looking for a new car. GM is having a huge sale on 2006 models and no interest for 72 months. We are looking at a Tahoe but there are only a few left in MI and a few in Ohio. Tom is calling around today to see if we can get one.

Not much going on here. The girls have gym and tennis today then I hope to swim.

Diana hope you are having a great time in Ohio. :rotfl2:

Yup, me too! Sorry we didn't touch base at COSI. KT went to a sleepover on Friday night and was dragging on Saturday.....then she started coming down with something. Since she's heading off to church camp on Wednesday, we opted to just chill at home the whole day. We did a lot of nothing!! She really needed that.

Hope you had a great time, and hope you're having fun at the zoo today! Nice cool day and overcast, so hopefully the animals are very active!! :)

Ilene: Hope you get the results you want so that you can have a fun trip.

Mary: Hope you are feeling better.

The food at turf is great! The pasta was excellent, loved the artichokes. Todd loved the rueben.

Hi all! We went to visit our married DD's this weekend. Had a great time with both of them. Went to see Superman Returns on Saturday night. Went to church with DD Rebecca and her DH Mark, then headed home. On the way home, our youngest DD called to tell us that she planned to break up with her boyfriend of over 2 years! We were surprised but we understand her reasons. Then this morning, I came home from water aerobics and heard a strange noise coming from our basement. Our hot water heater had sprung a leak and steam was coming out of it!! :scared1: After 3 tries, finally found a plumber to come and remove it and install a new one. No need in asking Ken....he came home from work and tried to turn off the water, and turned off the wrong valve! He says that's why he's not a plumber....

Hey everybody! We are leaving for CA on Wed.! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I got to start packing! We go to a family wedding on Sat. and then to Disneyland on Monday. We're staying at Paradise Pier. Anybody been there? We are using our DVC points.
We just can't wait! We haven't made any dinner ressies yet. Where should we eat?

Talk to you all soon! Connie

Hi everybody,

I haven't been around in a while and wanted to check-in before I disappear again (have a wedding this weekend in NJ, then my parents and niece are coming to FL for a long weekend - BTW I will be at the Beach Club from July 15-17 if anyone wants to meet.).

Happy birthday and anniversary to all I've missed.

I wanted to share that I rode Pirates Saturday and tried to get pictures and video but only the picture of Davy Jones came out. I didn't use a flash so that's probably why. Jack Sparrow looks just like Johnny Depp. I'm still not sure if it's an improvement to the ride but it's definitely different.

I haven't been able to get in contact with Tanya regarding the Yachtsman Steakhouse, I'm sorry to all who were counting on me for that. I hate to say it but it doesn't look like Yachtsman is going to happen. Would anyone like to meet for cocktails or lunch somewhere else instead because the evenings are pretty well booked? Or maybe do one of the less expensive Food and Wine events like the wine pairings (appetizer-sized portions with a few different wines paired with them)?

Curt - I do remember your reference to my filming of the Flying Dutchman and I WILL accomodate that request! :thumbsup2

Just an update, my son broke his arm on June 23 and the "great" Canadian Health system is leaving a lot to be desired. I would rather pay than stand in line ( & it seems like a long line!). The first orthopedic surgeon did not want to operate as he felt "that it will heal fine and the bones will line up on their own"--I have never heard of this theory before and I am an ortho nurse with 20 yrs experience. Even the next day the xray showed that they had shifted some but again, they will line up--mother at this point said, how can they heal if they are always moving? I was poo pooed and said to come back in 10 days which is today but the idiot forgot that he was not working today (our July 1 holiday carryover) so the Doc in ER rexrayed the arm and it is worse! A new cast was applied and an appt was made for Thursday with another orthopod--I know this one and he will not operate on kids so I know he will pass us off onto Sick Kids and then I start the wait all over again-I just want the arm fixed so my 9 yr old son can enjoy some part of the all too short Canadian summer.

On a bright note--I see 16 wks to the cruise-yippee because I could really do with that right now.

Ilene all the best with your back, hope it all works out for you.

Happy July 4th for all the Americans

Where is everyone staying pre-cruise?

Thanks for letting me blow off steam

Jacqui

Oh Jacqui, that's awful! Here's some pixiedust: for your son. I hope you can get some treatment for him soon!

Well, we have been car shopping (not by choice). My Honda Accord that I just spent $1600 on 4 months ago for new front and rear brakes, tires and the 90,000 maintanence has some new issues. It needs a new catalytic converter and timing chain (another $1600). The car blue books for $5300. We have decided it is time to let it go. Figure it will start nickel and diming us and something major could be around the corner. I am sorry I bought the new brakes and tires but who knew. Anyway, New Honda Accord will be purchased either tomorrow after work or Tuesday morning. Anyone else hate purchasing cars? I am glad we cancelled the Med. cruise for next summer. Looks like we will be paying off a new car and next summer we will spend a couple weeks at WDW and get some good use out of our AP's.

I feel for you.
I've been doing some research on getting a new car too. We have outgrown ours. It har served us well for 9 years now. It kills me to have to make a car pymnt again! I've been looking at minivans.
PleaseCar Gods keeps the 0% financing around for a little longer!! :worship:

Cheryl,
The restaurant looks very nice and your review was good but how did the food taste?

Well I'm a bit in a panic as my spine issue appears may be impinging not only on my nerves but on my travel/vacation plans! I have three trips planned in the fall, late Aug to WDW and drop dd at college, Sept to AZ for work conference and play, and of course the October DVC cruise. I'm concerned I won't make any of them. I'm really scared especially that I won't make the cruise.:sad2: If this doesn't clear up they will have to do surgery with a 6-12wk recovery period. But of course first they want to give it a chance to heal on it's own (another 4 wks?) so that brings me to 16wks! YIKES! I kinda want to say look it's not healing just do the surgery! Seriously! I plan to see some docs this week so maybe I'll know more. It's my nature to worry:scared:

Yikes. That just doesn't sound fun. Hope everything works out ok with the other docs. pixiedust:

Wasn't feeling 100% yesterday so took it kind of easy. I went back and did some searching on the DIS to find posts about the first Member Cruise and Member Homecoming. It was very interesting to see these posts that are over 3 years old. Also fun to see some of what must have been our first posts to each other. If you ever have a boring day and want a walk down memory lane I suggest going and reading old threads you might have been involved in. :)

Hope your feeling better.
I can only imagine what we sounded like as we were first "meeting" each other!

Good Morning Everyone! I can't believe the "weekend" is over (although I still have today and tomorrow too). Tom and I went to Plymouth yesterday. It was fun to be a tourist and check out "The Rock", walked by the Mayflower II and had a seafood lunch at The Weathervane. After lunch, we took a long walk along the jetty but it was very windy out there.

We haven't gone to Plymouth for several years and I was disappointed that a lot of the antique shops were closed. We also stopped by a Cranberry Winery and sampled all of their varieties (7 different wines) but didn't really like any enough to purchase. No plans for today but tomorrow we will be going to a cook out with friends.

That sounds like a nice weekend! Something I would do.
Have a good cookout!

I love doing movie nights like that.
Nick slept over a friends house so it was nice and quiet here. I did a little scrapbooking and did some reading.

Why do things like that ALWAYS seem to happen on the weekends or during some holiday.
Glad to hear you finally found someone to get it all taken care of.

Sounds like you have alot going on. Have fun on your trip back home. Don't be a stranger and pop back in soon!

Knock on wood we've never had a problem like that with doctors. Mine have been very good to us and if we need something looked at they make a call and get us an appointment with the specialist and I've usually liked all the doctors we have been referred to.
Would your son like a postcard from stranger to cheer him up? Send me a pm if that sounds good. I know some of the gang would love to send a postcard too.

We will be at the BWV the day before the cruise and thru Sunday after the cruise. A few other are doing the same, staying at WDW before and after the cruise!

Now that I have about filled up a whole page all by myself I'll shut up now! :rotfl2:
