Amy---I love the shadowbox! It's awesome!!

I'm working on a handprint layout for Emma (the only one I could get to lay her hands on the scanner for 2 seconds) so hopefully I can get that done tonight. I think it's going to give some of you a really cool idea on keeping track of how much the kids grow! I'll post it when I'm done.

Karen and all those other hesitant scrapbookers-- The best part about scrapbooking is there is no "wrong" or "better". What's my style might not be your style, but it's me and the same will go for you. You have to start somewhere, it may as well be with us! You'll find we're pretty good coaches too!

Chat--seeing as it's monsooning here and supposed to all day long, I'll most likely be there.....working on my layout and "cleaning" my office. :lmao: One day Bruce is going to catch on to me! :lmao:

Ok, quick break between lunches and shower (No, I'm not addicted to the DIS.).

I agree Diana! I know that my MIL always says, "I'm not as good as you" (which she is), but I ask her "Do YOU love it?". And she always says yes, so that's all that matters. If you love it, then it's a reflection of who you are. Don't let anyone else's work or the magazines intimidate you. I'm still GREATLY intimidated by some of the awesome scrapbookers that I see in the magazines and on places like Two Peas in a Bucket. We all started somewhere, and I'm amazed by the work of some of the "newcomers" to scrapbooking in this CJ. You guys are making some AWESOME pages!!! I look at my "first" pages and I just laugh, your first pages are SO much better than mine. But, I still love them because they are where I started and the topics (my girls) are a reflection of that.

So, to all of those newer scrapbookers, or people that have thought about scrapbooking, think about joining us next year for the SSMC06 circle journal. We're going to have SO much fun.

Amy the shadowbox is awesome. What a really cute idea - I'm sure they will love it!

Karen, I'm still very intimidated by the entire process. I have no doubt that those with much more scrapbooking experience than I have will out do my pages with not much effort. I have done very little scrapbooking and I'm very lacking in my skills.

But.......I'm really enjoying doing the CJ's. Even though I know my pages will not be as pretty or fancy as others will be, it will be okay. Because they are my pages and they show a part of me. :cheer2:

I can't wait to see the completed books! :cool1:
Karen, I am definitely a beginner when it comes to scrapbooking. The CJ is my very first attempt, and everyone's pages look better than mine, even Cindy's! ;) Come on and give it a try next time. I feel like I learn a little bit more with every CJ that comes to my mailbox. Beginners are certainly welcome! ::yes::

I won't be in chat again tonight. :sad2: We're leaving at noon to drive to Muncie to take some furniture to our DD and DSIL. Well, that is we'll be leaving if we can borrow my FIL's truck. Ken was driving home from Indy late last night in his truck and hit a deer! :scared1: It's really banged up pretty good. The bad thing is he was thinking about getting a new vehicle (maybe a small SUV) but keeping the truck to do yard work. It really has no trade in value because it has over 200,000 miles on it. Because it's so old, there's no collision insurance on it, but it does have comprehensive. We'll just have to see what the insurance will do. The most important thing is that he wasn't hurt!

Amy - I love that shadowbox - where did you find that? I would love to make one for Christopher's parents anniversary this summer!

Don't forget tonight is Cruise chat!

We have one more event to add to our October trip. My DD's taekwondo Fall Nationals tournament is @ the Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex October 18th - 21st. We don't actually arrive until the 20th so she won't compete, but we will be spectators for a day. :thumbsup2 She has competed @ the State level, but never National level. We will see what it is all about.

Amy the shadow box is such a cool idea!

Made ressie's for a DL trip in July. DH can only take a couple of days off so he suggested DD and I stay for longer since I won't be working this summer. DD and I looked @ each other and said OKAY! :woohoo: Don't have to tell us twice! :lmao:

What a great idea. Gail's family, dh and myself and dd, sil and grandkids are going to DL in a couple of weeks. We are only going for a long weekend. Gail, why didn't we think of staying after the guys leave? Boy we must be loosing it :rotfl:

Amy, love the shadowbox. Wish I would have thought of something like that for the grandkids.

Carol

Amy, love the shadow box. What a great gift.

No chat for us tonight - not like we ever make it anyway - because the festivities for DNiece's Bat Mitzvah start this evening. This is going to be such a busy weekend for us; Shabbat dinner tonight, Bat Mitzvah tomorrow morning, party tomorrow night. Of course Sunday is Mother's Day so a big family meal together for that. And to top it off, Ian received an invitation to a birthday party for Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon I just know I'll be ready to drop.

So, what do 5 year-old girls like these days? Ian and I have just a few hours to shop today and I have no idea what to get.

Now about the CJs, all this talk is making me want to get started right now. I know it's jumping the gun but...

Amy: That is an awesome shadowbox

I'm in for the next Circle journal as well.

Amy - beautiful work! Your family is going to LOVE IT :Pinkbounc

Mary - I am glad Ken is ok, those deer can be dangerous. I hope the insurance comes through for you guys.

I may or may not be in chat. We have a spring work outing to the race track (horse races) tonight and I am going to go for a while.

Amy...That shadow box is incredible! Great Job! As far as the circle journal goes, I'm willing to try, but have never done anything like it before.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement regarding scrapbooking! I somehow knew you guys would be willing to help out...

Problem is, it's not just the creative aspect of scrapbooking - I truly know nothing of the subject! Nothing. Nada. Zip. Any suggestions (that won't cost an arm and a leg)? There is so much scrapbooking "stuff" out there, I don't have any clue as to the basics, or what I'd need to even begin.

Man - I really sound kinda sad and pathetic with all this, don't I? :sad2:

BTW, Amy, in my haze last night, I failed to mention how wonderful that shadowbox is. How did you all get so creative? And talented?? :confused3

No chat for us tonight, I'm afraid. We're taking my nephews to see Scary Movie tonight - should be an adventure with twin 14 year olds (who are both considerably larger than me, I might add...)! :rotfl:

I found the shadowbox at my local scrapbook store. They are around $20, but I had a coupon. They are REALLY fun to do, and they fit a regular 12x12 piece of paper, so it makes it easy.

Thanks everyone for all your kind comments. I really hope that my SIL likes it. I really had a lot of fun doing it, but it did take me until almost 2am (but I do admit that I didn't start until around 10:30 or 11pm. Anyway, it really is pretty easy. The hardest part for me was doing all the rub-ons and cutting all the mats, then lining it all up.

Cheryl -- Thank you so much!!!

I take back all the bad things I said about the pink and green shirts! I LOVE them both!!! Not at all how I imagined the image transferred on them. I'm so glad you asked me to put them in the shop, because I'm totally getting the green one now!!

just a note that I used flash, the water on the green shirt does not look 100% blue.

I'm the same way. I've never done it before and don't consider myself very creative so I'm a bit intimidated but would love to see what everyone has done. For now though, I'll stay on the maybe list for participating.

Amy - what a beautiful job on the shadowbox.

I'm hoping to be in chat later but have a few things I need to get done between now and then.
