Karen already voted C for you! Are you guys trying to cheat or something?? :lmao: I'm changing your vote to D. Cheaters!! :sad2: :lmao:

CHEAT!! WHAT ME CHEAT!! I'm a government official :rolleyes1. No this is a simple display of the left hand forgetting what the right hand is doing. (Keep me a D though - just to keep Karen guessing. :stir: ) I can hear it now, "I asked you which one you liked .... (this is where I tune out & start humming It's a Small World) :rotfl2:

Actually, I want to send IAN to school there. I am fairly sure the cruise will win out though.

BTW, Amy... someday when you have a few hours I'll tell you the story where I torqued off my entire family over the choice between a good friends wedding (at WDW) and my Nieces HS graduation.

I know this is going to surprise everyone.....but I agree with you Amy. :lmao: I didn't that much fun at PI either. I always thought it was the rain, maybe the kids....but I'm thinking a lot of it was we were excited to finally get to WDW, tired from travelling, and even more excited to get to the cruise the next day. There was too much going on. I'm also just making my plans like there isn't anything going on and will change when someone tells me otherwise.

We didn't have much fun at PI either and we don't have kids! I think if the weather cooperated it would have been better because DVC did have tables set up outdoors where groups could have gathered and chatted. Instead due to the rain we were forced indoors and it was loud in all the venues.

We enjoyed the one show at Comedy Warehouse which I had always wanted to see but we left right after.

I think part of it was getting in time at WDW after a 2 day drive and the excitement of the cruise the next day.

I really did enjoy getting to meet everyone at the DIS meet before the PI party.

Like Amy & Diana I'm not counting on anything the night before and if something is announced we'll just switch. Guess that is pretty much our WDW style anyway. Make plans but they aren't set in stone. We've cancelled ADR's before when we've found ourselves meeting up with friends or just too tired to stay.

Sounds to me like we should plan an ADR for just us... anybody know where we can get an ADR for 100 or so? :rotfl2:

Just wanted to take a moment and cast my vote for D.

Now I will return to my balcony at VWL!

I wonder if whispering canyon can handle that many :teeth:

On a serious note perhaps we split into groups??

Dorkface!
Oh my god now I know why we get along so well! That is something I would totally say!!

Um wow feeling a bit ganged up on here, which I am positive is not the intent. Wasn't looking to start a debate, we (ok I) like to plan and hate to miss out on more fun with the group. We are secretly hoping Saturday night is a private MNSSHP for DVC members :)

Put me down for D too!

I haven't been here for a while and don't think I can make it through the 100 plus pages of postings I missed.

I have to agree with everyone's comments about the night before the cruise at PI. I like the Comedy show but the rest was a bit boring. It may have been due to the weather or the fact that we had been awake since 4AM. I think I'll make ADR and cancel if DVC does set something up for us. We have never been to MNSSHP and plan to make arrangements for that.

Oh Julie, definitely not the intent!!! I was just expressing my opinion about the last pre-cruise meet. We just didn't have that much fun. And, even if they do something again at PI, I'm sure we'll go, but who knows for how long.

Now, the idea of a private MNSSHP would be AWESOME!!!

Julie - sorry that wasn't my intent at all. Just stating my opinion that we shouldn't expect notifications etc. to go exactly as last time. Who knows maybe we'll end up getting more, but maybe we'll end up getting less. Since things like that are out of my control I personally don't worry about them. They'll happen when they happen.

I also did it more for the newer people. I said this last time and I'll say it again. After 3 member events (2 cruises and Member Homecoming) we just don't plan things around those days. DVC usually comes up with something that we didn't plan for and I'd rather enjoy those surprises. For example on the last cruise we all planned to do the room tour, but between Lisa getting sick and it bumping up against Ducky's talk it never happened.

Do you all want to know the great secret? It's about time I just out and tell you.

You don't approach DVC, you let DVC approach you, when they're ready.

I don't know how many know the whole story of this part of the last Member Cruise, but feel it might just need telling at this point. After us going on the 03 one, we were absolute on going on the 05 one. And booked it and all. And began the meet plans. After the MH one, I really wanted to setup a better meet location. I had formed the idea of getting some public, but quieter location then we had at MH(The Land food court), My ideal idea was maybe a conference room at one of the DVC resorts, and maybe getting it at some discount(yes, I was willing to rent one myself, if need be) if someone from DVC came and made a presentation or something. I outlined this to Doc and he point blank told me I need to contact someone at DVC directly.

Skip forward to December, when we had a trip to WDW already happening, and attended the Merry Member Mixer. We wore our buttons and just walking in we're already meeting DVC reps who know about us, in some part. Okay, this looks good, might get a shot at putting forth the idea. So we go in and hang out for a bit, and one of the reps is tracking us down. This is where we met David for the first time. Now I had been outlining some of my idea in the 05 cruise thread on here, and that has been read, and I outline the rest. He reassures me with an enigmatic promise that there is already something in the works. Anyone who attended in 05 already knows the result, A big precruise night bash at PI with buffet snacks and drinks(kind of like the Merry Member Mixers).

Now as for that result, to be fair the weather put a real damper on the event. It was planned as an outside event with the clubs being a fallback position. If it had remained an outside event it probably would have been stellar. It wasn't bad, but the noise level in the clubs was impossible to do any mixing in.

And don't take this the wrong way Julie, but that event is about the maximum we should expect for a free precruise event, if there is one. Show up early in a private area, then wristbands to remain and enjoy the regular event. They had under a thousand attendees to the last event, and for us to have exclusive access to the second most popular 10,000+ hard ticket event its certainly more than DVC is going to foot. And it is foot, they don't get the access for free, DVC is a separate entity from WDW and has to reimburse WDW for any services. The only way that'd happen would be in the way the event at MH did, as a paying event, and I don't know if they'll ever do something like that again.

I actually have an idea that I think is doable:

How about a Champagne DVC Brunch at the Dock before the cruise. It could be set up from the ship at 10:00AM afrer debarcation of the previous cruise. It would help to shorten the waiting time.

Just a thought...

Karen - you may want to consider calling day by day, esp if you want to stay BCV as it's been really tight to get reservations there!

Really tight. I sent an email Sunday night for two nights at BCV and got a reply yesterday that they were already filled up. There was a one bedroom at BW, but I decided to take a studio at SS and waitlist for BCV. Now I have a problem, my wife says she wants to try SS and I really, really, really want to stay at BCV.

Oh no I don't expect any type of free event, last year was fun, but not necessary. I'm more than willing to pay for these types of events, sorry you completely 100% misunderstood me.

Parking lot does not open until 10:30 am. I think the dock area has too much traffic.
Actually, when we sailed over Valentine's Day, the port parking opened at 10am. I don't know if that was new, or just happened to be that way for our cruise.

That would be so great! I'm all for that.

I know it's probably in a trip report somewhere, but can someone please tell us newcomers what the night before was like? Was PI open only for the member cruise people?
