20050618 - June 18, 2005 - Magic to Mexico

Capt Anne: We got them at the Merchandise shops on the Wonder in 2002. Well, actually we got at least one at Castaway Cay (she sells), because they had some different colors there. No doubt they're more "pricey" than the lanyards, but for the number of times we've used them, and the "souvineer" value, that's been great. Actually I would like the larger size, so that way I could keep a lip balm/lip stick in there. :goodvibes

It's the last day of school for my kiddies! Tomorrow I'm off.

We got no working telephone line in our house at the moment, so can't connect (yup still stuck with dial-up at home) to the internet from there.

Here's a funny...yesterday 3 PM...blip! No electricity! Well, this has happened several times in the past few weeks, but usually it is restored very quickly. Not so yesterday...I left at 3:30 PM because most of our work is computer-based (database, email, word documents, etc...) so we were unable to get anything done! Crazy place to work!

Thanks for the info, C-Ethyl!

Yea!! kids out of school! We still have until the 17th. "work" is pretty much done for them though. Lot's of field trips and such.

Big bummer on the phone lines. pirate: Me no happy w/o me phone! :sad2:
Actually, DH is teasing me about this on the cruise. He thinks I might go through withdrawl. Of course, maybe I bought an "extra" phone card when I got the ones for the CM's ... these things happen sometimes ... :rotfl: :goodvibes

I'll let DD know that Mizz M is offline right now, too.

SoCal weather report: We are having an absolutely gorgeous day to day. :sunny: No June gloom at all! High's in the low 70's.

I am sooo tired. Busy busy all day (except for my "lunch" break). Nice outside too...actually we're hot (mid-80's) and :sunny: so I am not complaining. Actually feels like vacation time!

Hi ho! It's wrap up time. Gotta get a few more things done and then off to catch me bus!

HEY,
I'm a 12 yr old girl and am looking to hear from other kids going on this cruise. I am going with my parents! i have checked out every nooc and cranny of this cruise! i am very excited! this is my first cruise! It would be fun to meet some friends before the cruise so u arent completely alone on the first day or too. what time r u guys going to the ship?
MACKENZIE princess:

cool. I'm 15 but i'm a pretty fun person. my friend is also going, but she's also 15....well she will be. i think it'd be fun to meet you on the cruise!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I haven't seen anything new recently. We've been trying to figure out what time to arrive at the port but it seems like no matter what time you arrive, you'll have a 3 hour wait. :confused3

Do you think we should reschedule the Scoops meet?

We started packing DS's clothes yesterday but it took a while because he had to try on every single pair of pants & shorts to see which ones still fit! :teeth: At least he's growing! (I have a little guy...he's almost 9 & weighs 55 on a good day).

I can't believe Disney can't figure out a way to get people on the ship a bit faster than a 3-hour wait!! What the heck do you do with kids for 3 hours in a terminal? Ack. My oldest will probably be melting down wondering why we're not getting on the ship. For those of you sharing terminal space with us, I apologize in advance. :sad2:

I think my family might shoot for arriving around 11:30 or 12, with the hope that at least all of the passengers from the previous cruise will be off by then.

As for the meet - I don't think we should move it. With the safety drill and departure party quickly transitioning into the early seating dinner, there's not a lot of other times available on Saturday. Maybe we should plan a second (or alternative) meeting on Sunday morning? I know some of you have spa appointments, family plans, etc., but hopefully something around 10AM won't be too early for the late-risers, but not so late as to disrupt the day's activities at sea. :confused3

We are really getting close now. :cool1: I leave on Thursday next week to meet DSIL, DD and DGD. :cheer2: (dlander and family). We are going to do the kayak and hiking and beach tour in Mazatlan :rotfl2: Keep telling DD that in might be too much. Anything requiring tennis shoes is too much. Don't you all think so? :confused3

Look forward to meeting everyone at scoops. :cheer2: See you soon. :bounce:

Good Morning, All

My kids and DH are very curious about this whole DIS thing. It makes for fun dinner conversation. I think it would be great for the girls to met other children prior to getting into the lab. We look forward to 3 PM at Scoops. Whereever that is. :rotfl: We will find it!! It looks like waiting in the terminal for most of Saturday may give the girls the opportunity to meet kids, too! :goodvibes
We are getting very close now!! Yippee. I hope I'm ready. Seems as tho I've been planning this trip forever!!
We will be arriving in San Pedro about 10 AM. Look for us. The family of four, two kids, can't be many of those!!
I have not scanned our family photo in yet, will have to work on that.

Coastal - there appears to be quite a few DD's on this cruise who are within range of your DD's! They'll have a grand time, I'm sure! :goodvibes

Crusin'CA: Got your PM from your DD- printed the message to deliver to "Mizz M" - she's been sad not to be able to contact your DD, but is really looking forward to meeting her on the Magic! Is that foot doing better? Sorry to hear about the pegleg coming aboard...will you wear it for pirate nite? Harrr! pirate:

As with some other posters (DB...) regarding the meet ---
-- we're arriving via the Disney "bus", so we'll probably get to the port relatively "late" (Pick up at PPH ~ 12:10 PM; and I have no clue as to the time to travel to port--hopefully no car jacking/stopping traffic things! :earseek: ) I imagine 3:00 should still be "okay".

We have yet to see how the June 11th boarding is handled... maybe better each time? It could happen!

Tomorrow is my last day at work - thus last day to post here. (Will you guys be glad or what! :rotfl: )

Packing is on-going. Still need to get "suspenders" for DH. Doin' that tonight. Drama Queen Mizz M has decided that she also needs a pair of sandels (other than what she has) and so we may be shopping for that too! I keep taking "stuff" out of her suitcase and she keeps putting more stuff in! Gotta love her -she's the baby!

Well, that's all my chatter for now. Back to the piles on my desk. Thanks for the nice break! See you all soon! pirate:

Woohoo, it's the last day of school  Nine more days :Pinkbounc I think we should carry signs like at the airport with our board names on it, so we can identify each other in the terminal. :rotfl:

Yep we'll probably be able to meet each other in the cruise terminal!! I'll be on the lookout for DISers at the terminal, then at 3pm at scoops.... If I don't see you at Scoops, I'll be delivering something to your "fish" (the little mail holders). I'm bringing a clipboard to stick on my door so the DISers can post messages on meets, etc.

I just read that the Carnival Pride will be in Mazatlan on Wednesdays now because they'll doing a day at sea, cabo, mazatlan, pv, day at sea, day at sea (the reverse of the Magic). I bet the Pride passengers will have slim pickings on the excursions they can take in Mazatlan.

MORE SIGNS??? LOL, I'm already going to be the "crazy lady down the hall with all those door signs". I guess one more sign won't hurt. Maybe I can be the "crazy lady with the sign around her neck." LOL :teeth:

DS's almost done with school. Today he gets out at 12:30 and tomorrow they get out at 10:00. The two short days drive me absolutely batty. Why can't they just make Thursday a full day of school & no school on Friday.

I just found out that DH will be in San Diego from Tuesday until Friday next week. Uggh!! I get to deal with the anxious kids, our visitors, and the rest of the packing all by myself!

Should I wear something lime green? Argh! I think I would look horrible in that color, but then "my favorite fellow cruisers" would be able to identify me as a fellow-DISer! By gosh, I'd be in the season's most fashionable color!

Well, since we're out hunting for suspenders.... :rotfl:

I don't know how we'll find each other there, though. Rae Ann, can you send me the link to the photos again - hopefully I can start memorizing faces.

As of now, it's completely unknown as to when we'll show up at the terminal, however. My sister-in-law won't be in OC until about 8:30 to 9. Then we have to pick up DMIL and DFIL in Whittier. THEN, we finally get to the port - but I'm sure someone will want lunch, have to pick up one more thing from Target, etc., etc.

I feel so left behind - I haven't packed a thing, I'm still trying to find the time to make a room sign, but have yet to buy a magnet or magnetic paper. 2-Way radios, cameras, DV tape for the camcorder, batteries for the travel alarm clock...<gulp>

Since you asked about what other ships would be in port with the Magic several months ago (already! Time really did fly! :hourglass )

"Carnival Pride changed schedules for the summer and now will be in Mazatlan with the Magic every Wednesday."

Found that bit of news ...

Also DB: noted that the two Mexican cruises did not have BBQ on deck as mentioned in the repo cruise...so information there was incorrect. Sad... :guilty:

pirate: Avast! The scurvy dogs be 'oldin out on ol' Cap'n Anne and 'er crew, eh? No grilled meats or shrimps on the barby for us measly 7-Day Pirates?? The bilge rats best be hopin' I don't find a plank on that there vessel, or there'll be some cruise director splashin' in the mighty Pacific, there'll be. pirate:

Da(r)n! No BBQ? Really? First they tell me that pucks are very likely to go overboard if I bring the hockey sticks for the Sports Court (netting is too big), and now no BBQ.

<bummed>

DBinMV

I'm a little disappointed 'bout the bbq too.

DB - just sent you the link for the album. If you see a short Asian lady staring at you with a confused look on her face, it's probably me. I'm not really good at remembering names & faces. :teeth: I'll be wearing my personalized t-shirt that we got made for this cruise for embarkation.

They'll do something fun regarding the "Prem-Ear" of "Herbie -Reloaded". After all, it does go to theaters either the 21st or the 24th (? Sorry - can't remember the commercials...) :confused3

SWEET! I loved Herbie growing up. I'm neither a NASCAR or Lindsay Lohan fan, but hey, the car's still in it, right? My boys would love that...DS lets out a big "Woo Hoo, Go Daddy Go!" if I take a corner a little (ahem) quickly.

Rae Ann, thanks for the photo link. I should be able to recognize at least a few people - I don't have anything "custom" to wear for the cruise to for others to pick me out of crowd, though...maybe I can work on that this Sunday at Disneyland. :cool1:

C'mon Friday - Get here already.....
