20050618 - June 18, 2005 - Magic to Mexico

Most people do not wear tuxes, in my experience. Mickey does, though! ::MickeyMo

Hi again from a newbie - my husband will be celebrating his birthday on board. Do I have to do anything besides let my travel agent know. Does Disney do something special for birthdays?? Also - will they do something cool for the Dad's for Fathers DAy????

I really REALLY hope they do something special for the Dads on Father's Day!
I have read in other threads they don't usually. I think they should change that. We specifically chose our cruise so my husband could be completely spoiled at sea this Father's Day! :love2:

I just sent everyone an updated list of the June 18th cruisers (the DISers that I have email addresses to). Please let me know if any of your info is incorrect.

Have you checked out Barb's site (castawayclub)? She has the latest navigators for the May 28th west coast cruise posted.

HEY,
I'm a 12 yr old girl and am looking to hear from other kids going on this cruise. I am going with my parents! i have checked out every nooc and cranny of this cruise! i am very excited! this is my first cruise! It would be fun to meet some friends before the cruise so u arent completely alone on the first day or too. what time r u guys going to the ship?

Rae Ann- I just sent your our info.
I couldn't post my pirate name because I am too new for URLs. :guilty:

I am up late tonite ironing just so I can unpack and have everything a wrinkled mess!!
Seems like time is speeding up the closer we get to sail day!!
I am having a surprise 40th Bday party for a friend this Friday night, then packing can begin in earnest!! Lots to do this week!!

We are active tonight! :cool1:
Welcome to all of our new cruisers!

For Birthdays, my understanding is that you should also mention to the head server or your server (?) what night you would like to celebrate and they will bring a small cake. This is our first cruise too, so I am just getting this information from this board! Our youngest will also be celebrating her 2nd birthday the day we board!

LOL RaeAnn, I am definitely having the same problem with packing "just in case" stuff since we just have a short drive! :rotfl:

I am so far behind on all the posts from this weekend, but I need to go back to finishing the edits on the last PTA newsletter of the year. (NO, we can not add anything more to the newsletter!) - ok, done venting now - but, I just wanted to drop in and say :wave2:

FYI - Deb Wills has the May 28th navigators posted at allearsnet.com in pdf format (much easier to read than the ones on Barb's site).

It looks like I may be going to the port EARLY on Saturday so that I can check us in with our passports & get a low boarding #. DH is going to drop me off then will return later with everyone else. In one of the posts, a 5/28 cruiser said that some people who got to the port later had to wait up to 3 hours to board. Sounds like embarkation & debarkation at the San Pedro terminal is a mess. They do say that passports are a big plus (all people in your party must have a passport to go in the passport line).

Our visitors have left so I've started taking out my suitcases. :teeth:

Thanks RaeAnn for the info on the navigators. These are exactly the information I need to finish up my "planning"

I hope DCL can get the boarding process a bit more streamlined before we get there. I am glad we all have passports since that will make it a little better, I hope. There is a very detailed description on the main forum board about the whole process. It was very informative. (I don't know how to post links - sorry!)

The navigators are so cool! Deb is just the greatest! :goodvibes Thanks for the info...made my day!

Hi Mackenzie!! I am dlanders DD Taylor and I am 12 also! :cheer2: We will be at the port around 9:00a.m. Are you going to meet at Scoops? This is my second Disney Cruise. I only have 31/2 days left of school, how about you? What are you most excited to do on the ship? Talk to you soon. Can't wait to meet you!

Welcome Mexico Cruiser  It is so great to have more people on our board :cheer2:

Raeann: You have been amazing putting everything together for all of us. Big thanks for all of your hard work :flower:

CaptAnne pirate: I hope the rest of your weekend went spectacular! :cheer2:

VBug: How was dance recital?

DBin: Are you out there? :Pinkbounc

Hollyster: I am also hoping for something nice for Father's Day. How could they not

I'm so excited :cool1:

Geez, I go away for a weekend and you guys go nuts!!

I celebrated Father's Day with my folks, since they're not coming on the cruise, plus helped a neighbor put together one of those redwood playsets you see at Costco - quite the busy weekend. Glad to be back at work so I can get some rest. :rotfl2:

Welcome aboard to all the new folks. It's going to be an awesome cruise!

Just a quick FYI - the Post Office will let you put in a request to hold your mail in some zip codes, so you don't have to bribe the neighbors with a bottle of Cabo Wabo: US Post Office Hold Mail Link

OK, how are you all explaining DIS to your spouses? I mentioned the 3PM Scoops meet and my wife looked at me like I was Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

Can't wait to hear the Magic blow "When You Wish Upon a Star"....

DH knows that I've been corresponding with people on our cruise. He seemed excited about Scoops but when I asked him if he wanted to post anything to this thread he said...."isn't that just for the ladies?" :earseek: I told him that there are many guys who post on the Disboards and only DB has been brave enough to post on the June 18th thread.

LOL -- Most of the time DH is tolerant of my DIS addiction because he likes that everything goes smoothly (Information is power!). However, last night when I was trying to catch up on all the posts from the weekend, DH had that "you've gone overboard" look again!! But there was so much good stuff from the returning cruisers, I had to read it all!!! :rotfl2:

No way is he going to post though! He also didn't want our names on our door sign. You'll just have to meet him in person on the ship! He really is a nice guy!

I really hope that DCL does something for Father's Day. DH deserves a nice day!! I scheduled our couples massage for Sunday Afternoon as a treat (OK, so I want a nice day too!)

Glad the weekend is over. Swim meet went well, but long. The PTA Newsletter goes to the printer tomorrow morning ... hopefully, no more changes between now and then .... :badpc:

VBug: how was the recital? You leave in less than a week! You must be so excited (and busy!)

DB: Double that! Geesh! Away from the computer (alas that's a whole story in itself! Aieeee! :earseek: ) for 2.5 days and a whole lotta catchin' up to do!

Now don't be asking me to help anyone "iron anything out" because I certainly will put deep creases in whatever my iron touches! I am the self-proclaimed "WIW" (Worst Ironer in the World) and will happily prove it if asked. I plan to stay away from the ironing board (what IS that thing?) completely. Don't tell me I look wrinkled, because my clothes may match my laugh lines! :goodvibes

Arrrr! I be in me 44th year, so I should be entitled to them thar wrinkles! In de clothes and mug! Arrrrrr! pirate:

:) Everyone askin' about the recital! Hey! Thank you, thank you! I am pleased to report that "tiny dancer" did just fine and enjoyed it tremendously. This year we did not forget something! (ballet shoes, tap, shoes, stockings, fluffy feather things, lipstick, ...etc) THAT is a first! :rotfl:

No wonder I dread packing! :rotfl: :goodvibes

DMIL and DSIL were visiting and they're convinced to wear pirate costumes, so if ye be sitting in our dinin' rotation (late; requested PLA) then ye be warned! pirate:

We're taking the Disney-bus transfers, so we'll be tryin' to make it to the 3 PM meet, but maties per the news I can't be saying if we be there on times 'ya know. Arrrrr! I be usin' me flint-iron on dem bilge rats -them's not ironin' what needs ironin'! That be the only ironin' for me! Arrrrrr! (translation: We'll try our best to make the meet, but we're depending on the Disney bus to get us there and with the current waiting times to get on board...it's out of our hands unless DCL gets something "ironed out" to make the boarding times faster and smoother!)

Hearty YO HO! pirate: to all the new folks signin' up on this board! It's been fun planning and learning! Nice crew of mates! pirate:

Our family has those waterproof (otter boxes type) holders, which we use for the KTW and DL and $$ and whatever else. I like that they "lock" shut and I can swim with them and not worry. They're in bright colors, so everyone in the family has their own color. Started out with the DCL lanyard, but ended up with the boxes (credit card sized) and have used them ever since for all trips to WDW. Will be using them at DL!

Yes, busy, busy! Today was the monthly meeting and ugh, it went from 11 to 2 PM! Now I got to finish that report and we have to work on the meeting minutes. Lots to do, so I gotta get crackin'!

Wanted just to say "hi" to all and welcome to everyone new! I am soooo excited! Will stop by tomorrow as time permits!

:wave2:

loved the reference to Jack N in the shining - my friends look at me a little crazy when I tell them I am learning SOOO much from a great group I have never met!!! Thanks to those kids (girls) who have responded to my daughters post - she is traveling this trip solo (no friend this time) and is excited that so many "pre-teen" girls are going!!! There is a great restaurant at the San Pedro pier called "ports of call" and it would be a perfect place for the main group to hang out and get in the vacation mode while one designated family member waits in line!!!
Cindy :cool1:

Vbug: Where did you get the "lock close" boxes. DD's have a frightening capability to lose things that are not superglued to their persons! :rotfl: Good luck with your last week before vacation!!
