Robin, I auditioned for "Walk in the Clouds"!!! :rotfl: Needless to say, I did not get the part. :( "Benny and Joon" is cute!! Johnny is always at his best when he's cooky!

Great Idea. Let me see...

What do you do for a living? Do you like it?

I teach Chemistry at a small College. It is the only "real" job that I have had (23 years and counting) and I love it.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Interestingly enough, a teacher; off and on since 1st grade. I never thought that I would actually do it!

If you were stuck on a deserted island what would you bring and is the last person you would want on that island with you?

I would obviously bring lovely wife. Last person on earth? Rush Limbaugh!

Favorite Disney movie? or movie in general?

I love the Sister Act Movies. Also am a Trekker! (Star Trek Fan). We also have really enjoyed the two Princess Diaries movies.

Why the Disney Panama Canal Cruise?

We have always enjoyed Disney (though not as much as some people on this board!). We also love cruises (first cruise in 1998 after my father died). Brother-in-law and wife are also Disney addicts and have never cruised. When we learned about this... it seemed to be the obvious choice for our next vacation!

And silly question: If someone wrote a book about your life, what would be a good title?

Country boy in the Big World! (I grew up in a "city" of 20,000 and throught that this was all there was!)

On a side note, anyone hear rumors about other port changes?

Bill

I am so glad everyone is taking this little quiz and not laughing at me for proposing it!!! If anyone has questions they would like asked, but don't want to ask, PM me or email me....
DH Jeff is going to Reno next week so if anyone needs anything updated, email me at jenkatt@gmail.com

I think the quiz is a great idea - it's been fun reading everyones' answers!

I'll take a shot at it too.

1. Right now I'm a full time mom. Most days I love it - though it can get crazy. Just yesterday I was going from the computer; where my oldest was researching colleges, to the kitchen table where my youngest was trying to figure out the difference between a d and a b for kindergarten homework.

2. Another lawyer wanna-be here.... until I spent the summer after college graduation working in a law office.
Glad I found out I didn't care for it before spending all those years in school!

3. Sure hope my family is allowed on the island with me! I would need LOTS of good books too.
Who would NOT be invited: Colin from The Amazing Race (I hope I'm not the only goof who is hooked on AR) That guy is far too intense to enjoy being on a deserted island and he is just plain mean to his girlfriend! Couldn't put up with that!

4. My favorite animated Disney movie is probably Beauty & The Beast. Non-animated is Pirates of the Caribbean of course.

5. We're with Jin on this one. This will probably be a one time deal for us. We really wanted to do a cruise with all the kids before the oldest two are off on their own. A family cruise on a Disney ship through the Panama Canal - what a great memory to have!

Book Title: Hmmm tough one, depends on the day. ;) For today how about...
Taxi Mom and Proud of it!

Will be checking back for more answers - keep them coming!

Is it my computer or is this site moving painfully slow tonight?

A friend knowing that I like Disney so much brought me a magazine article to read today. Have any of you heard about the "Disney guy"? This guy is amazing! I wonder if he is going on the cruise? I haven't read through the whole site yet, but check out his house!!!! I wonder if he is available?;)

Ok, that Disney Guy is TOO MUCH! I about near fell off my chair looking at those picture. Way over the top.

Hi all...What a good idea! Although I've cruised with some of you (or soon will) I can't say that our casual cruise conversations covered much past the real-time happenings on the ship...or foreign ports....Here's my contribution.....promise to be surprised...!

1. What do you do for a living? ... Right now I'm retired but I spent 20 years working as a technical writer for military and commercial projects... (Read : The type of information guys usually throw out first when opening a new electronic toy, plus some training courses (Tomahawk Weapon Systems...yawn)...

2. Do you like it? I loved it! I also taught school for a while when I was first out of college.

3. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an archaeologist or a veterinarian. Oh, well....

3.If you were stuck on a deserted island what would you bring
Cash, the Wonder Dog

4. and is the last person you would want on that island with you?
My previous job supervisor or any of the Bushes....

5. Favorite Disney movie? or movie in general?

Cinderella

6. Why the Disney Panama Canal Cruise?
It's long, It's interesting, and it goes places I'm not likely to go again...Plus, it's a good excuse to visit family in Southern California...

7. And, silly question: If someone wrote a book about your life, what would be a good title?

Watch out, I'm right behind you...

What do you do for a living? Do you like it?

I'm a database specialist and trainer for our local school system, the 11th largest in the country. I usually like it, but this week I don't, as my deadline for summer work is tomorrow/today (Thursday)!! August is a killer because we have so much to do and no turnaround time. And no, I don't get the summer off--it's my busiest time!

I'm also a Disney Store CM :) 5+ years and I'm now a p/t manager. Thank goodness for this job as it's funding our cruise!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Um, I think I wanted to be a librarian or something to do with computers, and I didn't land very far from that since I work in education. I love to teach and help people learn. I did *not* want to work in retail...funny how things work. I always thought I would kill someone. I haven't yet, but Christmas is right around the corner, there's always hope! ;)

If you were stuck on a deserted island what would you bring and is the last person you would want on that island with you?

Well, if it's Castaway Cay on a day the ship isn't there, who could complain? :) How about a deserted island close by--all I would need is a boat and oars to head over when the ship is there so I could stock up! Otherwise, sunscreen sounds good along with books and music.

Who should NOT be there, hmm, there is a long list of people that fit that description. Hmm, that deserted island is sounding very attractive...

Favorite Disney movie? or movie in general?

Favorite Disney movie is Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Non-Disney movie, dunno...I like a lot of things.

Why the Disney Panama Canal Cruise?

Why not? :) If I had my choice of canals, I would go with the Panama Canal rather than the Root Canal. :teeth: You have to see the Panama Canal sometime, and since we were already planning on doing a 2-week cruise (eastern/western back-to-back for our birthdays) all we had to do was adjust the dates by a month. I love Disney, love to travel, and love to vacation! I can do it all at once!!!

And silly question: If someone wrote a book about your life, what would be a good title?

Que Será Será

Okay, I could'nt think of who I would hate to be stuck on an island with when I posted. Now I know! My brother's wife!!! I can't even call her my SIL! Whats that movie where the boys got stuck on an island and went crazy and started trying to kill each other? Lord of the flies or something! Thats what it would be like!:teeth:

:rotfl: Having had my first ever root canal last year, I TOTALLY relate to that answer!!!

Getting a part-time job at a Disney store sounds like fun!

Hi everyone! Lurker here w/ a question. :)

I know that earlier in the tread you guys were talking about transportation options.....but I'm too lazy to search every page lol.

What is everyone doing for transportation? Transfers....limo...shuttle? I just decided to add a day at WDW before the cruise and a day at DL after the cruise. I'm not sure what my best options are going to be. Here is my itinerary:

Thursday 5/12 arrive at MCO 4pm Stay at Airport Hotel
Friday check in at AKL in morning
Sat. morning Checkout and go to the port

Sat 5/28 morning leave port and go to Grand Calfornian hotel
Sun afternoon leave for the airport.

Anybody have any suggestions? There are 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) Thanks!

I love The Amazing Race. Every Tuesday night!!!!!

Linda

Count me in as an Amazing Race fan! I think it would be so cool . . .

Serena6010 . . Welcome. If I were you, I would just rent a car on Friday morning and keep it until you get to the port on Saturday. I think it will come out cheaper for a 1 day rental then to pay for all those transfers. Plus, you have your own transportation. I always like that.

I am coming in LATE Friday night and probably staying at the MCO Hyatt. We'll rent a car early Saturday morning and drive over then.

I called DCL and was told that transfers (1-way) are $25 dollars each. If you use DCL transfers, you'll be picked up at the resort (at certain hotels; for me, since I'm considering a night at Pop Century, I'd have to get to the Swan or Dolphin resort to be picekd up) at 11:00am. I think there's a pick up at Animal Kindgom, not sure though. I'm sure other folks on this thread could give you a much better answer! :)

I have 2 options: arrive LATE Friday/night and stay at MCO Hyatt, use DCL transfer to get to port.

or, if money allows: arrive first thing Friday morning, rent a car and stay at Pop Century, drive to port/drop off car

I don't know what I will end up doing! But I wish I could hurry up and figure it out so I'm not so stressed about being to get a room for Friday night LOL!!!!!!!

What do you do for a living? Do you enjoy it?

My wife Judi and I are fortunate enough to be recently retired. I was able to take an early retirement from Ford Motor Company the first of this year while I was still in my late 50's. During 30+ years at Ford, I was a Purchasing professional starting as a buyer and retiring as a middle manager. Overall, I really enjoyed the job, although there were some rough years. In retrospect, the rough spots were primarily related to the style of whomever was the boss that period.

While retirement is great, it is begining to get a little boring, so I've started to look for some consultant or part time work. Of course, it would have to be flexible enough to let me take 18 days off now and then for Disney cruises or vacations.

What did I want to be when I grew up?

I wanted to be a mathematician, until I had trouble with the advanced college courses in math. Then I wanted to be an accountant. When Ford offered me a job, they had two positions at the same starting salary - one in accounting and one in Purchasing. I chose puchasing because I thought there would be more variety in the job.

If you were stuck on a deserted island what would you bring and who is the last person you would want on that island with you?

I would like to bring a good Navy Seal, or British Special Air Service (SAS) resource person, a working sattelite phone, and appropriate tools. I can think of lots of candidates for "last person" - primarily some former colleagues who were more whiners than doers.

What's your favorite Disney movie?

My favorite is the original 101 Dalmations. If they'd made 101 Dachshunds, then that would be my favorite.

Why the Panama Canal cruise?

For years I didn't want to cruise, but my wife thought I would enjoy it. We're had two Disney cruises in the last two years and enjoyed them. I've always wanted to see the Panama Canal. Now that we've retired we have the time and are young enough to "hopefully" really enjoy it.

:scratchin Good Idea Cap - talented, efficient and muscles. ::yes:: Yeah I think a good Navy Seal or SAS should definitely be added to my island.

Cap, you are lucky to have retired at such a young age!

101 Dalmations is probably DD's all-time favorite Disney animation. She loves dogs! :teeth:
